AEW Had their first official show at Double or Nothing in May 2019.

That's over a year ago.

Their weekly show turns one this Fall.

They have had enough time to get over being "new.' Hell, most of their talent has worked for other wrestling companies.
Man... They are not the E' where they can just do that.

In thier situation it's either sink or swim from the beginning... It's very good that they are doing well in ratings.

But I see where your coming from, but on the other hand, the people they have are not widely seen our noticable as yet. Which is why they have ex-WWE guys to help out with promoting

Excalibur and Kevin Owens...come on down!

Old clip of them both calling Black wrestler the N-word surfaces.....

Man, damn... I guess it is true what they say the cat that is going the HARDEST for a cause usually has a lot of skeletons in their closet. Joey Ryan used to roll hard for women in wrestling... 3 months later sexual assault allegations

It's a bad look, but if the wrestler agreed to be called the N-word as part of an angle, not sure there would be much fallout.
And KO has demonstrated lately that he is a #BlackLivesMatter supporter.
Not sure about Excalibur. I wouldn't miss seeing or hearing him on AEW.
It's like that time Vince McMahon said "niggga" to Booker T on TV.
I gotta think that's what this is, but there are other ways to get heat. Where are you at that, THAT'S what you have to resort to in order to get the crowd to boo you?!?!

These low-budget Indy promotions are always looking for cheap heat and they know that's the quickest way to get it.
Not sure what year this is from, but obviously this wouldn't fly today in any promotion.
Also, in the comments sections they're saying it was Excalibur and not KO saying it.

AEW has a lot of money behind them as well as a network.

They CAN do just that. They just choose not to and play it too safe to the WWE playbook.

Hell, AEW came right out the gate with a PPV and a whole lot of buzz but they have squandered it by relying too much on the same thing that has turned off WWE viewers.

You're right though, WWE can afford to be stale. AEW can't and yet, they aren't doing anything to avoid it.

If only Billy Corgan and NWA had the budget AEW is working with, NWA Powerrr would have been a true competitor to WWE.

It's bush league crap like this that has turned me off from ever wanting to attend local indy shows.

This looks to be mid 2000s.

I saw the comments and disagree with those saying it wasn't Owens/Steen. It sounds like him.

If he doesn't come out and defend himself then I will assume it is him.

I agree they have too much veteran talent in front of and behind the scenes to making some of the mistakes they are. I think their main issue is there is no core creative force / vision driving it. Each of the VPs (The Bucks, Cody, Jericho & Kenny) run the different divisions. I think Tony Kahn has final say so, but those guys have strong inputs. That's why it feels disjointed. They're lucky WWE is also putting out a so-so show.

What was that...? havent been following AEW in a while(had stopped after that Cody Rhodes getting a whipping like Denzel in Glory bit )
That was the faction with Brandi, Awesome Kong, Mel & Luther. On a podcast Brandi said that was one of Kong's ideas, she always wanted to do a gimmick where she scalped people. But Kong has back problems, so she can't move like she used to, coupled with the fact that the fans hated it. So they scrapped it. That's a prime example of why they need one creative vision to shoot down silly ideas or help talent craft their vision for television.

Wish he had done some Indy work first but glad he has a job. I've been a fan since the Z True Long Island Stories.

They need to drop the Dark Order gimmick too. Shit is stupid and the Brodie Lee character is lame.
Yeah they kinda dropped the ball with them. They debuted to no one knowing who they were. Ono & Grayson are actually a entertaining duo and the #Join The Dark Order started to get over. Brodie Lee debuted with no crowd and the Vince McMahon gimmick didn't help. I like what they're doing with the Dark Order on BTE. They can turn it around.

That looks like the Human Tornado

True on that. Dude allowed it so not a whole lot of fuss you can say about it. Owens seems like a good guy and he'll likely make an apology about it. Still uncalled for a extremely low effort heat.

Yeah, he has the most potential out of the recent WWE cuts.
He's got the mic skills and was one of the first wrestlers to use social media to get over on his own.
He's a good enough worker (not great).
Not sure about the name though. It's going to take a while for me to stop calling him Zach Ryder.

Why though? Absolutely NO ONE gave a damn about her and when she would come back.
Naomi was the clear star of that duo.
Maaan, i was going to post about this chick last night, but i was so uninspired........

i hope she learned more when she was out all these years, because if she didn't ... :dunno:

She's probably friends with Brandi Rhodes and she hooked her up with a job.
You know, they both like to "swirl". LOL
That's gonna be the death of AEW. All the execs giving their no-talent buddies jobs.

:lol::lol::lol:

I always found it fitting that AEW has a team named "Best Friends".....because it seems like that's how folks get hired there.

Waits for Adam Rose to get a job offer because he was boys with Cody.

I just think that without the crowds in the arena for all of wrestling is hiring the moral of the wrestlers themselves. Least night would have been great if there was a crowd there to cheer and boo.

Wrestlers always say that the crowds gives them energy when they are out there and I can see that motivation is low for some of them.

Yeah man. I haven't watched a full show in weeks. Hell, probably a full month. These empty arena shows just fail to hold my attention.

Wrestlers aren't motivated. Neither am I to watch.

I'll check out a few clips but have no real interest to watch again regularly until they have crowds again.

While this is true, these AEW wrestlers are more used to performing for smaller crowds. And granted your coworkers and friends aren't gonna boo you the same way a fan will, but seeing a sea of empty seats is normal for them.
