Ok, so let's have an evidence based discussion. Why did the CDC say to stay at home and to not focus on masks? Why did Dr. Adams say protect your big mama and abuela. Because what we have known for a while is that the phenotype of those who succumb to COVID-19 related complications include those over 65. (75-79%) of all U.S. deaths related to COVID-19 has been this age group. Additionally, of all those who have died, only 8% has been at home and not at the ER, retirement facility, or other medical facility. Right now, there is a 4.5% rate of death in the U.S.
Most importantly, those with underlying conditions were 12 times more likely to succumb from the disease. To quantify this, 90% of all those who have succumbed to the disease had an underlying condition.
This is not to say that we all should not be more vigilant in our efforts to thwart this disease. However, because people are hard headed and won't stay home, the only way to protect the most vulnerable populations is to have potential carriers wear masks. What they are not saying is that the fundamental thought has always remained the same, most people will be fine. You probably had it and didn't know or will have it and get over it soon. What is different now is the effort put forth to protect the most vulnerable groups.

Your first paragraph is flawed. The best course of action is to stay home. Those that can't should wear PPE correctly at all times in public.
A 4.5 percent death rate is astronomical. Part of the reason that death rate is so high is because asymptomatic people are infecting those with high risk factors. BECAUSE THEY WONT STAY HOME OR CORRECTLY WEAR PPE.
The problem is that the messaging from the beginning was awful. And the punk ass SG participated in that horrendous messaging while scientists from around the world said that failure to wear masks will put us where we are now.

The point I was trying to make is that black people will look at anyone like them who does not satisfy their sensibilities in a negative light as a coon(that is human nature). Is there a consensus among health authorities, and health advisors that covid-19 is not a political hoax constructed simply to damage the administration? And do they agree it is in fact a highly contagious disease, with a relatively high mortality rate. If the answers to these questions is yes, then why did he not provide a scientific rebuttal to all the political operatives that advocated it as a hoax? He stood behind the leader of our country who time and again called the corona pandemic a hoax or cosigned others saying it. He didn't have the courage at any point to follow up those statements with one of his own, saying it is not a hoax. For good reason black people are suspicious of the fed govt when it comes to health advisories. He had the chance to speak directly to everyone, including other black people. As the nation's top doctor in the midst of a worldwide pandemic he could have done so much more to debunk the propaganda, grand standing rhetoric, and self-serving spin, but didn't because he’s not apolitical. He allowed the truth to be clouded and twisted when people were dying, resulting in many more people dying. I wouldn't expect Fauci to be straight with black people, and he could never be a coon. Adams must know he is presiding over the country’s worst medical crisis of the last 100 years, and as surgeon general history will nail him to a stake for failing to take the necessary measures to contain or even properly mitigate it. In China some health care authorities gave their lives or got disappeared for speaking the truth. The worst that would happen to him is he’d be looking for a new job, and not allowed to lick trumps boots anymore.
All that said, I agree with you that you can't save everyone. Some people just aren't going to do what’s best or even good for them. We just don't want it to be because they were intentionally misled.

HONOLULU — A lawyer for U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams said Wednesday that his client, who is charged with illegally entering a Hawaii public park that was closed because of the coronavirus, will plead not guilty.
The criminal complaint against Adams, who was on Oahu in August helping with surge testing amid a spike in coronavirus cases, says he and two other men were looking at the view and taking pictures at Kualoa Regional Park on the island's northeastern coast. The rural park offers a view of the famed Mokolii island, also known as Chinaman's Hat for its cone shape.
Adams did not appear in court or on a video call for the Wednesday hearing, but his attorney, Michael Green, said his client understands the charge and will plead not guilty.
Because the charge is a "full misdemeanor," the judge said the not guilty plea could not be entered until Adams decided if he would waive his right to a jury trial. Green said Adams would not waive that right.
The judge set an arraignment date of Nov. 2 in circuit court.
Adams told a police officer who cited him that he was visiting Hawaii to work with Gov. David Ige on COVID-19 and didn't know parks were closed. Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell had closed them at the time to try to prevent crowding that could spread the virus.
Violating any of the mayor's emergency orders is punishable as a misdemeanor, with fines of up to $5,000, up to a year in jail or both.
A few days after the citation, Adams appeared with Caldwell at a news conference announcing a partnership between the city and federal government for surge testing.
"I'm proud of every single one of you who has sacrificed over the past several months," Adams said at the time. "And to the people who are lapsing a little bit, I want you to understand that a little bit of fun right now can result in shutdowns further on down the road. It's important that we all do the right things right now, even if we don't feel we are personally at risk.
