"WW C"- COVID-19, GLOBAL CASES SURPASS 676 MILLION...Here we go again 2025 are we ready for Trump to fuck this up again?

Don't spray disinfectants to kill coronavirus, WHO advises

Spraying disinfectants outside or across broad spaces indoors to try to kill coronavirus can do more harm than good, the World Health Organization advised Saturday.

And spraying people is a really bad idea, WHO said in an updated advisory on infection control.

WHO cited studies showing that trying to spray bleach or other chemicals over a wide area is ineffective. The same goes for ultraviolet light disinfecting, the agency said.

Some governments have fogged streets and some groups have been washing down sidewalks, but WHO said it’s probably a waste of effort.

“Spraying or fumigation of outdoor spaces, such as streets or marketplaces, is also not recommended to kill the COVID-19 virus or other pathogens because disinfectant is inactivated by dirt and debris and it is not feasible to manually clean and remove all organic matter from such spaces,” the agency said.

i sprayed down my lifting gloves when i was still going to the gym...i wonder if it works on fabric

Here is how that works and what I train my staff for cleaning infectious diseases. Spraying your gloves will not sterilize them. When you disinfect you are removing the contaminant 100%. Spraying your gloves could not 100% remove bacteria or viruses because like the article stated, dirt deactivates the disinfecting properties of a cleaning solutions. Essentially the dirt binds to the chemical and changes the composition and makes it ineffective in killing viruses.

But cleaning your gloves is not all lost. When you sprayed your gloves you did reduce the number of viruses. For example if you started with 1000 virus particles on your gloves, spraying them reduced the number of germs down to about 300. When the viral load is low (Number of virus particles) your immune system can easily defeat them. Plus the remaining virus becomes weakened and basically sick so they are not as potent if they gain access to your body

Who could have seen this coming.... :smh: :smh: :smh:

As you can see from a couple of the maps I made, that the upper Midwest has been getting hit pretty hard, especially when you look at the percent increase over the last two weeks.

North Carolina’s cases are rising fast as well, but the Governor announce last week that we have doubled our testing, so we are going to see a spike in confirmed cases.

Yes, great work on the maps! I complain all of the time about living in a high cost blue state but I am thankful right now that we dont have idiots in charge rushing to open it up...

Governor Cooper did all he could for N.C. He has gone as far as opening up in Phases. Phase I will end next Friday.

NC has been steady and no hospitals have been overwhelmed, but the skeptical rednecks and negroes are not make it easy down here.

It’s almost like the reason for shutting down went right over people’s head.

Well said. I've been saying to friends & family that I'd rather we have crappy weather this spring compared to the early summer vibes in the past week or two.

The better the weather, the more people out and about at beaches and parks.

Friday was beautiful and sunny. Many people without a care in the world.

Saturday was cooler and overcast ... rained here and there. Less people out and seemingly carefree. Summer can chill for a bit - it's still a month away.

Really Wish I could have taken a picture of this carwash down in Charlotte yesterday...you would have thought it was like back in the day at the bowling alley, bikes were out..there seems to be more people out riding bikes (choppers and harleys) than in the past..

I found out it interesting that people criticizing Gov. Whitner have not shown that the growth of the virus has slowed in Michigan, while it has exploded in Minnesota and other Midwestern states..

Latin America and Caribbean record 500,000 virus cases

Latin America and the Caribbean have recorded more than half a million coronavirus infections, according to a tally based on official reports.

Almost half have been recorded in Brazil – the country worst hit by the pandemic in the region – which also has more than 15,000 deaths.

The tallies, using data collected by Agence France-Presse from national authorities and information from the World Health Organisation, probably reflect only a fraction of the actual number of Covid-19 infections.

Many countries are testing only the most serious cases.

More than 4.7 million people have been infected around the world since the virus first appeared in China late last year.

At least 313,000 have died from the disease and more than 1.8 million have recovered.

Brazil's confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus rose on Saturday past those of Spain and Italy, which was once the epicentre of the pandemic, making Brazil's outbreak the fourth largest in the world, according to official figures.

Brazil's Health Ministry registered 14,919 new cases in the preceding 24 hours, taking the total to 233,142, behind the United States, Russia and the United Kingdom. Brazil has done just a fraction of the testing seen in those three countries.

The global distinction is likely to pile pressure on President Jair Bolsonaro, who lost his second health minister in a month on Friday as he defies public health experts and calls for widespread use of unproven medicine.

Mr Bolsonaro has been fiercely critical of the orders by many of Brazil's state governors for strict social isolation and quarantine to combat the spread of the virus, including closing schools, shops and restaurants.

Mr Bolsonaro argues that the toll on the economy is becoming unbearable and businesses must be allowed to reopen as soon as possible. The government now expects Brazil will post its biggest annual economic contraction this year since records began more than a century ago.

Brazil's Vice President Hamilton Mourao underwent a Covid-19 test and was placed in isolation at his official residence on Saturday, after a public servant who had been near him last week tested positive.

Downtown Raleigh had armed battyman walking around protesting 2nd Amendment rights when no one was even talking about taking away gun rights :smh:

If this country cannot get past racism, how is it expected to tackle sexism?

I think it’s been documented about the great women who have led their respective countries in this global crisis.
