Tory Lanez Says Instagram Has Suspended His Live Broadcasts: 'They Didn't Want Me to Win'

Fans will have to wait at least a week before the next installment of Quarantine Radio.

The show's host Tory Lanez took to Instagram on Tuesday claiming the platform had revoked his live streaming privileges until March 14. The rapper posted a screenshot of an app message that read: "Based on previous use use of this feature, your account has been temporarily blocked from taking this action ... We restrict certain content and actions to protect our community."

Lanez captioned the post, "THEY DIDN'T WANT ME TO WIN"—a reference to the broadcasts' record-breaking viewership.

Shortly after Lanez announced the temporary block, he created a new Instagram page specifically for Quarantine Radio. But it wasn't long before that account was also stripped of its Live capabilities.

"This is crazy at this point ... I had 350k live, Instagram cut me off," Lanez said in a subsequent video. "I made a whole brand new page n***as ain't never heard of ... I just got to 100,000, Instagram shut me off."

Lanez has since launched the hashtag #FreeTory in an attempt to speed up Quarantine Radio's return. The Chixtape artist launched the program as a way to entertain fans during the coronavirus lockdowns. Audiences have been treated to twerk contests and some big-name celebrity guests, including everyone from Drake and Justin Bieber to Megan the Stallion and Chris Brown. It's unclear what exactly prompted the platform to block Lanez's live streams, but several Twitter users noted it had something to do with a phallic snack.

His shit got blocked because he was broadcasting sexually explicit content. Nothing to see here.

I guessed this, before knowing anything about the situation. It was either, sexual content, or an issue with music copyright. Not complicated AT ALL. It was cool when Fendi and Boosie did it. Everything after seems lame

This. The same thing happens on Twitch all of the time. People acting like they're surprised they get their access cut when they straight up broke the rules, and they know it. granted, Twitch has an issue with letting popular folks get a free pass on that sometimes, but saying that the system ain't fair or balanced is just life.

I kinda agree with the notion of somebody launching their own platform for their own content. The main issue that places like IG, Twitch, YouTube, etc. have is that they know that adult content is a slippery slope. Once you crack that door open, your site will be primarily a porn site, and that's that. But if someone else wants to drop in with whatever they want to do... well, obviously, there is an audience for that.

I just returned to IG and I added like the 300 women and I'm blocked from adding, liking, commenting or uploading pics until later today.. IG has been trying to clean itself up for a while now...

No unofficial apps, no like4like, no desktop uploaders.

I know he mad because this is his only contribution to entertainment. Now he gotta rely on that rap shit again.

RoadRage what's up man :)
You've been gone for awhile, I hope you are doing well

HNIC
After my daughter got over her cancer, it humbled me, so I stepped away from all social media. This corona pandemic has me back, but it's good seeing the old family still kicking and talking shit. But yeah I'm safe in NYC, you know me I was prepared for this over a month ago.
I hope all is safe with you and your family.

why wont niggas make there own platform to do what they want? They have the money to, but rather be waiting for crackas to "free" them

Tory Lanez is an entertainer. He used that skill to put together a great variety show.

But somehow that's not good enough. Y'all expect him to single-handedly launch an Instagram competitor and have it up and running with 350,000 followers in less than a month on top of it all? SMH

Black programmers and tech Moguls have spent YEARS trying to make a competing social media platform. So far it hasn't worked out. When it does we are going to see a golden age of livestream content.

In the meantime Tory Lanez and the rest of us have to make do with the tools that are available. It sucks, but so does coronavirus.
