TC Carson Reveals He Was Fired From 'Living Single': "We Were Getting Less Than"

FIRST SENTENCE: No, I got fired... I got fired.
SECOND SENTENCE: It wasn't that I got fired, it was the way it was done.
:rolleyes2:
there's nothing contradictory about that.... in the first sentence he's correcting the story...in the second sentence, he's commenting on how it was done...

from the way he talked about it it sounds like he allowed himself to be the lightning rod....if anyone should have been the spokesperson for the cast it should have been latifah since the show was basically built around her. Second they should have all been speaking with one voice and made it clear that grievances and issues are coming from ALL of them.

EXACTLY

Just like the nbc friends did.

Good to hear the brotha admit what most people (white) don’t know and that is ‘Friends’ was stolen from ‘Living Single’... just like the movie ‘The Town’ was stolen from ‘Set It Off’.

CAC loves to steal our ideas and pass them off as their own. I’m not sure they have invented anything of relevance in entertainment without jacking the idea from a so-called black man or woman.

I knew it was some bullshit involved when he was gone and they had another dude trying to take his place
They just acted like he never existed

Friends definitely stole its whole shit from Living Single.
But even though The Town is officially supposed to be based on the book Prince of Thieves , I don't think it was that or Set it Off.
I think it was based on the real-life dudes, Anthony Shea and the No Name Gang. They were actually bank robbers from the "town"(Charlestown) up in Boston.

Check this out when you get a chance:

Just like the nbc friends did.

them and the big bang theory crew did that too....

the problem is solidarity like that isn't easy to come by...

one of the biggest issues Janet Hubert had with Will Smith was that she went to him about contract negotiations and some kind of collective bargaining with the network and his response was "My deal is my deal and your deal is your deal"

on that talk show The Real...the two lesser known chicks went to Tamara Mowry with the same collective bargaining suggestion and her response was the same as will smith

and the biggest example was 3s company... Suzanne summers went to John Ritter and Joyce DeWitt about asking for substantially more money...ritter was the highest paid actor on the show and posited as the star but Summers was extremely popular in her own right by the 3rd season and all of them started at the same time so she felt him getting like 150k an episode vs 75k for them wasn't fair and while they all agreed to ask when the time came Ritter and DeWitt backed down and essentially left Summers out there alone. We know the rest. The fucked up part is that history showed she was right.

and not that's just Hollywood...shit like that happens in all professional fields.

Even though I didn't really watch the 6...i thought what Michael Smith did for Jemele Hill was great...He was like If you get rid of Jemele, then I'm gone too..Jemele seems to be doing well, but Michael never really stood out to me..haven't heard much from him lately..

The Will thing to me is more complicated

He was so damn young and the pressure he was under

I completely understand.

Wow.
Is that a common thing in Hollyweird?
If so, WTF do I need an agent for if the charge being led is actors uniting?
I say that to say:
Those people had some hard decisions to make. Co-workers in one ear. Agents in the other.

and it does NOT always work..

Dick Wolf was FAMOUS for being the one to tell the NBC head at the time?

To fire the ENTIRE cast of Friends and replace them.

Honestly?

I think that damn show would have been fine.

Based on their success? individually.

you have a point...his maturity level was not where it needed to be for a move like that.

And i think if UNCLE PHIL had told him to do it?

MAYBE it might have been taken a different way...

I wonder what was Uncle Phil opinion about that decision?

He was the most SENIOR of that group and a VERY success carrier

I NEVER heard HIM say Will did anything wrong?

I was gonna mention New York undercover cuz those two did collectively try to get more money but they didn't have the leverage they thought...while the show was extremely popular among blacks and latinos it consistently ranked in the mid-30s in ratings....not bad enough to get cancelled but not good enough to demand more money and all kinds of riders in their contracts either....so the showrunner decided to split them up...kill off one and the other would buckle down and that's how the spanish dude got fired.

Hawaii 5-0 dropped the two asian cast members after 7 SEASONS when they asked for more money and the two white dudes leading the show weren't even as famous as those two...Grace Park had come off Battlestar Galactica and Daniel Dae Kim was on Lost...the guy who plays McGarrett is some canadian actor and Dano is more famous for being James Caan's son than anything he's ever done individually...yet they didn't get their backs.

Back in June 2017, it was announced that both Park and fellow series regular Daniel Dae Kim would not be return for Season 8. At the time, it was reported that they failed to secure pay parity with co-stars Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan — but in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Park says that “there were a number of factors spanning the show that affected the non-renewal of my contract.” And while she’s “grateful for the lessons learned,” she says, the choice to leave was ultimately “what was best for my integrity.” (but when monique says that word black people call her crazy)

^^^^^^

That whole “Must See TV” NBC Thursday night lineup was a bunch of BS.

Nobody was watching “Seinfeld”, “Friends” or “Frasier” back then.

Majority of the country was tuned into FOX watching “Martin”, “Living Single” and “NY Undercover”.

Yeah, the Neilson ratings said NBC was on top, but everybody knew those ratings were BS cuz they had those Neilson boxes mainly located in the Midwest like Iowa or up in Montana where it’s all White folks or heavily predominantly White communities.

I have talked to plenty of White folks since those shows debut and they all say they were watching FOX. Especially mofos in the Gen X age group who those shows were targeted too.

They would say they would watch the NBC shows when they repeated like during the holidays, Easter time and during the summer tv hiatus break.

You talk to white folks you know who were around in the 90s and they will say the same thing.

Try and think back on the history of Fox shows with black shows and leads. How many made it past 5 seasons. Shows like "New York Undercover," was killed off in the 5th season. But I remember Fox treating that cast like shit. Fox blamed it low ratings.

"In Living Color" needed to die after the main cast split after season 3, tired of fighting the censors. The last 2 seasons were brutal.

Living Single so did the cast end the show in support of TC?

IMO all these shows seemed to get cut short and ratings had little to do with it. Seems Fox could always justify their reasons for dropping shows of black interest. Yet that trailer trash show "Married With Children' got 10 seasons.

Why that response? I have never seen 1 minute of any of those shows. An I know of no one black ever bringing those shows up in conversation. FYI for whatever reason those shows did not appeal to black people.

White people LOVED those shows. Your post implied they didn't.
