Spike Lee done watching Knicks at MSG this season



The New York Knicks may have won on Monday night, but they will be without their biggest fan for the rest of the season.

Appearing on ESPN's First Take on Tuesday morning, Spike Lee said he won't return to his Madison Square Garden courtside seats this season.

"I'm coming back next year, but I'm done for the season," Lee said. "I'm done."

Lee's comments come a day after he and the Knicks had a disagreement over which entrance the award-winning screenwriter and director could use. A video circulated online showing Lee yelling at Garden security outside an elevator, leading some to say he was thrown out of the arena. But a Knicks spokesman said that was untrue and that it was simply an issue of Lee using the wrong entrance.

Lee and Knicks owner James Dolan could be seen shaking hands and smiling at halftime, and Lee was in his sideline seat for the second half.

Lee classified the Knicks' version of events as "spin" and said that he's being "harassed by James Dolan. I don't know why."

The 62-year-old Academy Award winner said that despite his moratorium on MSG this season, he'll be back for the 2020-21 campaign.

Like SAS was alluding to, free agents are gonna be soured by this. This is the equivalent of the Lakers harassing Jack Nicholson with any kind of fuckery. Game wasn't even over yet and it was all over twitter :smh:
 
Where's the incentive for future free agents to even consider coming to NY. To do this to your number one fan makes no sense. But that's been the M.O. of the Dolan's since they took over the Knicks.

I'll say it again, the Knicks will never be a contender as long as they're run by the Dolan family. Knick fans need to do like Giants fans did years ago and start boycotting the team. It worked on the Giants. Knick fans have nothing to lose.

Dolen is a fucking idiot!! He's sabotaging his own franchise!! The NBA needs to step in like they did with the LA Clippers fiasco!! Force him out! How you gonna fuck with your most famous fan who's literally a court side icon who probably brings in millions just by his presence on the sidelines!!

Born and raised New Yorker here. Was a huge Knicks fan (Love all my NY teams win or lose) but ever since Dolen came in the picture.....I have not watched a single Knicks game! That Phil Jackson mess!! FU Dolen. That Charles Oakley mess!! FU Dolen. Now this Spike Lee mess!! FU Dolen!

Same here. I tried to stick around but with each year I cared less and less for them. The final straw for me was the Oakley debacle. It's been FUCK Dolan & da Knicks ever since.
