Secondly actively participating in races and voting no matter the outcome matters because the only thing political groups and politicians care about is numbers. Therefore the higher our voter turnout (consistently) the more they'll have to take notice if us as voters and our issues.

A lot to unpack here. The Republicans were against slavery. The party was founded by abolitionists. Slavery was what was tearing the Union apart. The south wanted slaves, the North didn't. There were some abolitionists who believed in complete equality and some who only wanted to abolish slavery. There were a lot of poor whites who were fighting to end slavery. They may not have believed in equality of races but they knew that slavery was holding back the country. An employer won't hire me for a livable wage if he can buy a slave cheaper and worker him longer.
To say that people opposed slavery is not the same as saying they wanted equality, many were in support of what was called "free labor" meaning that the laborers were free people. It has been well noted that the south was far behind the North and European countries because of the dependence on cotton and slavery. There was a lot of money in the South but only in the hands of the large plantation owners. Cotton so dominated the economy, food had to be brought in because all the fertile land was being used for cotton. Items requiring skilled trades were imported from Europe or the North.
There is a lot of debate about Lincoln's intentions. Lincoln was not known as an abolitionist but he did not believe in slavery. The entire Lincoln & Douglas debates were about slavery. While he didn't believe that slavery was moral, he did accept that it was legal by the Constitution. That' why you have the Emancipation Proclamation only freeing slaves in the states that rebelled. Lincoln had an opportunity to prevent the Civil War but would not do so if slavery continued. Lincoln knew that only compromises on slavery were just going to bring them right back to the edge of war. It had been building up since the Missouri Compromise in 1820. Thomas Jefferson wrote that war was just narrowly avoided at the time.
Something people still don't know to this day. It's like the "40 Acres & a Mule" phrase.

Where are the studies showing how we were impacted and would be impacted by slavery, Jim Crow etc? LGBT had studies about how income was affected. Not being able to file taxes jointly and all sorts of other stuff. And you know what? I'm not an active supporter for LBGT, rarely read anything regarding it, but their message was so pervasive and saturated the discourse so much, that I couldn't avoid getting some of the details. We don't have that sort of machine. The main vehicle we have y'all want to opt out of participating in. I'm not saying no such studies have been done regarding the black experience, I've seen some in regard to other topics, but if they have and ADOS is using this as a factual basis in their arguments, this info is not filtering through the noise.
Y'all want something tied up in a bow for black folks that no one else can touch. Besides reparations, which y'all are all over the place on, what do we experience in this country that no one else experiences where legislation could be written that would be race specific?
There are black immigrants and blacks with immigrant backgrounds on BGOL that see them as brothers over us ADOS. Most of these folks think the Southern strategy was a myth and that there was no separation from/realignment amongst members of the parties in opposition to the civil rights act.
