HBO Series: Watchmen (2019) (drops 10/20/19) Thread

Playing Life On Mars as she brings him back.
Getting rid of the tropes of running through plans or playing dumb.
Lady Trieu actually being ABOUT IT.
Also Lady Trieu's logo is an elephant
and also Lady Trieiu for those that don't know actually rode into battle ON AN ELEPHANT

ALSO
Full amnesia is RARE almost never happens.
Cal's accident.
Never happened.
Reeves knew. Trieu knew.
His name is Cal Abar.
He's Laurie's ex
Ex-Cal-Abar
the ruler
I can go on and on.

Interesting.. with cal reveal. Explains a few things gs. Like his heaven or hell conservation with the kids. Possibly how Angela survived the white night. Looking glass bodied them cacs and got in the wind. And how the fuck does keen knows who dr. Manhattan is? And do 7th Calvary have something to subdue dr Manhattan or will he go willingly? And what’s up with the elephant?

I'm wondering if Judd was one of the 7th Cav who broke into her house on the White Night and that's how he found out about Cal.

My thoughts on episode 7:

WTF...

Cal Is Doctor Manhattan
...

the camera holds a shot on Cal’s surprised face when he sees Laurie at Chief Crawford’s funeral; and at the end of the graphic novel, Doctor Manhattan suggests he has a renewed interest in humanity.

This seems to suggest Cal's consciousness of the situation, which the ending debunks.

Although maybe there was reason to read into that which I'm missing?

Okay, I'm through episode 6 now.

And the reaction here reminds me of the Jemele Hill line "Straight black men are the white people of black people."

Because some of you sound exactly like the "cacs" you were mocking about being mad at all the black representation in the first episode.

Was it necessary for Hooded Justice to be closeted or bisexual? Of course not. But that would not diminish him or the story in any way. (And I say that for those without knowledge of the comic-- the fact that he was in there actually makes it necessary for the TV show and all this whining even sillier.) Certainly nothing to be mad about or throw away the whole series saying "I don't have representation on TV now." Because nobody would mirror you 100% in any circumstances so unless you're a 105 year old black man from Tulsa who went through all the shit Hooded Justice did except you happened to be totally straight, this episode did not change your representation on TV one bit.

It's just a story. And a damn good one. CACs need to be able to appreciate stories with black people or revolving around black people and the CACs of black people similarly need to not seek to discard anything that does not conform to their respectability politics as diminished or an attack on them.

:dunno:
Angela Is a Clone

Watchmen has already had its fair share of clones thus far, between Mr. Phillips and Ms. Crookshanks and the pet cloning company that Wade Tillman’s ex-wife works for. That would leave the possibility of a big reveal of a human character being a clone—not unlike the Bernard reveal in Westworld—and Angela has emerged as a likely candidate on Reddit.

When Angela was shot on the White Night, as driller2x pointed out, she took a shotgun blast to the chest, and when she woke up in the hospital with Judd Crawford at her side, she could recall the first attacker with the knife—but she never asked about the second attacker. It’s possible that the real Angela died that night, and the Angela we’ve seen is a clone whose memories have been fueled by Nostalgia. It seems like a stretch, since we’re currently unaware of any possibility of Nostalgia having a long-term effect like that, as well as the fact that Angela’s memory of the night might be a little hazy since she was, you know, shot point-blank. But the White Night is a pivotal moment in the HBO series, and there are still many lingering questions as to what actually went down.

Big Blue dildo named "Ex-Cal-ABar" :giggle:

Watchmen is now about black people trying to stop white supremacist from making america great again and I'm here for it.

I've really enjoyed this series ...but this ^^^^ is why I don't think season 2 will happen.

CAC's will not allow the idea of their white supremacist leanings being wicked and destructive to survive.....

Plus Hooded Justice is a negro & Dr Manhattan falls in love with a sista and becomes a negro (I can sense the white tears falling every episode)

Lady Trieu said both her parents are going to be present during her greatest achievement /
.....so the COMEDIAN will return ?

I'm not going to lie.. I was worried about this show. going to far into the Civil right stuff. no doubt I loved that angle but it was not sustainable. now that it all is leading so something this big. this just might be my favorite show right now. and I hope it's not a one shot

it can be both

I thought veidt...if not her biological father her spiritual one

she bought his company
he was somewhat an inspiration and think has a statue of him
trying to save the world
and who's satellite was that veidt was messaging
and what was that thing that crash landed in the field of that barren family
