Future has more hits than Nas

This. And quiet was kept, and I fuck with Future, but when he can visualize a track and a moment or a series of moments the way Nas has done in songs like “I Gave You Power” or “Blaze A 50”, Future gets in the same ballpark.

In fairness, Future has made some dope ass music for this current generation of hip hop but I don’t know that his music will be generational. 20 years from now folks with still talking about Nas; can’t say I think they’ll be talking about Future.

Right. Future isn’t wack. Not saying that at all. It is a valid statement that generationally: people value different aspects of music.
“Old heads” treasure lyrical content whereas I’ve noticed the younger listeners value cadence and the track. Whereas people would always use that fallback “... it go hard in’na whip!”
Not realizing Nas got a few joints that will pop a tweeter and shake loose some shit.

Perhaps I've heard them and not known who ot was. But I dont listen to the radio, only download music from artist I actually know and like. So... Naaa man... I cant think of 1 song that I've heard that I knew was him.

Which proves my point even more. The measures you take to ensure that you only hear what you want to hear and you STILL couldn't escape his music because he makes hits. Those are hits.

I don't be listening to no Lizzo
I've heard both her singles though cause I'm not a hermit
She's got 2 hits.

My man... I cant place 1 song... I left open the possibility that MAYBE I had actually heard something of his because I really wasnt trying to argue about the shit. But I literally cant name 1 song of his... Ive not heard 1 Lizzo song either. I see shit posted on social media, I knew who she is, but I have not heard any of her shit either. Dont know what to tell you bruh...:dunno:

Have you been in any club, lounge or strip club in the past decade?

Nope... Last time I hit the club was like 2011. Bars. yes, but... They normally have typical lounge music. Dont do strip clubs. Sportsbars... I left open the possibility that Ive heard his music. But I dont know what the ninja sounds like to the point where I can say "Yo, thats that ninja Future!!!" Youve never been somewhere, and music was playing but none of it resonated with you to the point of really listening to it??? I dont know why its so hard to grasp. In the event that I have heard his music, I wouldnt have known it was him. Youll act like hes Jacko or some shit.

Even I know Future has more "hits".
Impact is another story.
Weird Al Yanovic has hits.

Future is a better beat picker, Nas is a more skilled writer/lyricist.

Future has more mainstream hits, Nas has more "cult classic" songs/verses.

Damn y'all niggas get butt hurt. It's not that serious. Nothing wrong with this statement. A hit song means a song the casual hip-hop listener recognizes. Whether they like it or not. They have heard it because it's getting play. If I put on If I ruled the World. My lady would say that turn that up. If I put on Mask Off, she'd probably say the same. I think Future would have more songs that she'd say that about then Nas. Don't mean future is better at anything Nas does

Nas was never a party music type of rapper to begin with? Even in Nas's heyday the mainstream artist were going more for the party vibe and money chasing and less of the boom bap, lyrics, and the culture.

Ain't nobody playing Nas music but people that complain about new age music or an oldies station.

Only album that I'd consider a classic is the one that features the song, "if heaven was a mile away."

People been saying Future would be forgotten for over a decade, he still making hits.

Nas is cashing out with investments.

Lyrics are subjective to the audience.

If it is so easy to make a hit now days then why hasn't Nas had a hit in close to a decade?
From the very song you reference:

Making hits is easy
Put a famous bitch on the hook there you go with a platinum CD

fuck that, I'm done giving young niggas a pass for not being informed about music that was before their time. It's a wack excuse and we allow that shit.

Ray Charles' prime was before my time. I know how great he is. A GOAT.
Stevie Wonder's prime was during my first few years of life. I always knew how great he was. A GOAT.
Sam Cooke. James Brown. etc. etc. etc.

But in Hip-Hop, we allow youthful ignorance without it getting checked. Because we'll be called "old ass haters". FOH

Nukka trying to say you gon learn today .....

While I am not a NAS fan he and Future are not making the same type of music.

Rap is not judged objectively. Other genres recognize and point out one hit or 2 hit wonders. Artists with only 1 or 2 great albums are not even considered as being the best.

But in rap there isn't an accepted criteria for greatest list.

Album sales = Nope
Longevity = Nope
Awards = Nope
I think he is the goat = bingo

Its an emotional argument and you can not win emotional arguments.

That you don't go places people play music

Which is fine.

I think y'all just be hurt over stuff that ain't serious

Nas was never a hit maker it was never his lane as an artist

Future is a guy who intentionally tries to make street hits and Athens
It don't make future better than Nas
He's not. Not even close

But on hits it is just fact

One dude listed dozens of Nas "hits" like Rewind.

Great song on a classic album but it wasn't even a single, nevermind a hit.

Transcript:

Lonzo seizes the opportunity. "Let's really get into this," he boldly suggests. "How many classic projects does [Nas] have? Honestly, because people be saying he's top five."

Stop.

This has nothing to do with “hits” anymore. He’s now questioned Nas as an emcee and his place in hip hop as one of the GOATS. Remember, this is past just “hits” now.

Continue...

"Future has put out nine projects in a row that's all hit," says Lonzo. "Dirty Sprite 2 is one of the best albums ever. 56 Nights one of the best mixtapes ever. What are we talking about here? Monster?! Like, come on."

Stop.

Dirty Sprite 2 (which is garbage on garbage imo) has now been classified alongside Illmatic and It Was Written. He’s lumped Future’s last 9 projects alongside Nas’s catalog and put it up for interpretation.

This has opened the door for ANY hip hop head to comment and destroy.

You’re attempting to defend the indefensible.
