I wonder how long x-men will be put on suspension by Marvel.

China end of month gonna give it a big boost ...to b at 180 without China is huge...

Hobbs & Shaw's worth, however, isn't evaluated only on domestic returns as the film launched in 63 overseas markets this weekend with an estimated $120 million, securing a $180 million global debut. The performance is the fifth largest global opening ever for Universal, and tops the $177.8 million global debut for Godzilla: King of the Monsters earlier this year.

The film debuted at #1 in 52 of the markets it opened in, with Russia leading the way with an $8.1 million opening. Additional top debuts include the UK ($7.8m), Indonesia ($7.69m), India ($7.4m), Mexico ($6.96m), Japan ($6.58m), Taiwan ($6.2m), Germany ($5.45m), Australia ($4.89m), Malaysia ($4.67m) and Brazil ($3.9m). Hobbs & Shaw will open in Belgium, France and Italy later this week followed by launches in Korea on August 14 and finally, a debut in China on August 23.

I know they got beef...

But Vin cannot be mad.

Tyrese too...

One more spin off?

They got a ridiculous franchise universe that is truly GLOBAL

Hell... they need to add Jackie Chan or Jet Li or Chow Yung Fat or Michele Yu or Ming Na to this thing

to get ALL the Asia money

Sidebar...

Which studio owns F&F anyway?

@slam

So Universal owns Fast & Furious franchise

That is NBC

And all the monster movies like the mummy, Dracula, dr. Jekyll etc...

Holy hell

They could legit have the Rock fight the Tom Cruise version of the Mummy.

Or

Have F&F go to space and Dom meet Riddick.

Saw it over the weekend. It was just ok to me. Sone good action scenes but the plot was weak. I think they were counting on the action to carry the movie. And Idris wasn’t that great a villain.

not a good look .... Lion King doing almost the same numbers ...

i think this shit gonna fall off a cliff 2nd weekend...

Tyrese gonna b on twitter mon morning again...

Lion King...:money:

Spidey still doing 5 mill weekends...:money: ...wonder if it can make it to 400 Mill domestic...?

I haven't seen it yet, but it sounds like it was just like the other Fast and Furious movies. What more would you expect other than over the top action sequences and a dumb ass plot to justify everything that's happening?

I'm waiting on Rambo and Top Gun.

I dig the "one last ride" for the old guys

Top Gun yes...but Rambo....dont think it has the global appeal Tom Cruise n Top Gun has

then u know its gonna b a hard R rating...

neither will hit a Bill ...

Ehhhh ain't nothing hot dropping until "IT:Chapter 2" so they will probably coast along the rest of the month.

It's not even going to make it until next week

Angry Birds 2 is going to be number one next week

Hell, Lion King might beat it also.

BoxOfficeMojo and Deadline are not nearly as "gloom and doom" as BGOL.
Some of y'all sound like you're WISHING and HOPING the movie will FAIL.
Serious question... WHY?

'Hobbs & Shaw' Repeats at #1
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=4536&p=.htm

It wasn't as close a race at the top of the weekend box office as we thought it might be heading into the weekend as Universal's Hobbs & Shaw held on much better than expected and easily retained the #1 spot for a second week in a row. As for the weekend's crowd of six new wide releases, CBS Films, eOne and Lionsgate's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark led the way with nearly $21 million, followed by a decent performance from Paramount's Dora and the Lost City of Gold while Fathom and Trafalgar's release of Bring the Soul: The Movie appears to have eked its way into the top ten.

Leading the weekend was Hobbs & Shaw for the second weekend in a row. The film held on quite well in its second weekend, dipping just -51% for an estimated $25.4 million sophomore frame and a domestic cume that now stands at $108.5 million.

Internationally, Hobbs & Shaw added another $60.8 million internationally, pushing its overseas cume to $224.1 million for a global tally that now tops $332 million as it enters its second week in release. This week saw the film open in five new markets including a $6.9 million launch in France, a $2.6 million debut in Italy and a $1.6 million opening in Belgium. The film has still yet to open in Korea, where it will debut on August 14, followed by an August 23 launch in China.

‘Hobbs & Shaw’ Pumps Up $333M Global
https://deadline.com/2019/08/fast-a...a-global-international-box-office-1202665985/

Universal’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw put another $60.8M in the tank during its second frame at the international box office. The Dwayne Johnson/Jason Statham-starrer pumped up its overseas cume to $224.1M in 66 markets through Sunday, and global to $332.6M. The drop in offshore markets that opened last session was 52% when comping standard weekends and excluding previews.

Overall, H&S is tracking in line with Fast & Furious 6 and about 40% lower than Furious 7 and The Fate Of The Furious. By way of comparison, although it was coming off a record opening during Easter 2017, the latter film dipped by 60% in its second offshore frame.

H&S added five new markets this session, which are tracking about 30% ahead of Mission: Impossible – Fallout combined. Despite a big holiday travel weekend, France was the best opener at $6.9M for No. 1. The UK is currently the lead H&S hub at $15.6M with a good 40% drop from the debut.

Still to come on the David Leitch-helmed Hobbs & Shaw are Korea on August 14 and China on August 23. The F&F franchise is a massive draw in the latter, while the stars of H&S also excel. Johnson and Statham both spent time in Beijing this past week for a local premiere.

I was like scary stories to tell in the dark sounds interesting, nice scary flick to take a chick thats

into scary flicks.... then I saw it was rated pg13.... so I was like fuck outta here wit dat bullshit...

8/11 Domestic: $108,513,780 32.6%
vs
Production Budget: $200 million

51% 2nd week drop is life support numbers - consider that 48% is death

this movie will not make over $140 million domestic... on a $200 million budget not including marketing$$
+
recoupment of only 25% to less than 50% of foreign box office - depending on country
:itsawrap:

I went and saw Hobbs and Shaw. It’s a fucking disgrace. And I’m not one to criticize films that much. But, Lion King takes a dump on Hobbs and Shaw.

The Rock should be embarrassed to have that shit be part of the Fast and Furious franchise.

All of the trailers you see are from the first half of the movie. I couldn’t wait for that shit to be over.

glad i saved my money ....

i knew it was doomed when i saw the trailer when he included his mama & brothers.....funny style ni99a...

why u aint include the black side of ur family ......:hmm:

Exactly. I said this shit in the John Henry thread.. How the cat is NEVER distinctly black or embraces blackness in his films... but does so when convenient for dollars (see, John Henry film)... BGOL said i was a hater tho.

Fuck Dwayne.

Saw it last Tuesday. I enjoyed it but it really something you can pass up seeing at the theater. If not for Kevin Hart & Ryan Reynolds having surprise roles I probably would have regretted seeing it.

this shit was horrible. Best parts was when Idris was kicking their asses. Other than that, the movie sucked. That last action scene.....come on. Predictable. A couple of funny parts, but i can't see myself watching this again.
