A collection of #ADOS Tweets from @KingTahara that no one cares about

Nigeria recently rejected a resolution that wouldve granted citizenship towards those of African descent looking to repatriate there.

Many ADOS, myself included descend directly from Nigeria and were sold off to the west.

The Trump administration just made its first move in a clampdown on US visas for Nigerians

Nigeria accounted for over 25% of non-immigrant visas issued to Africans in 2018 alone—but that may be set to change.

The United States embassy has announced an immediate indefinite suspension of interview waivers for visa renewals for applicants in Nigeria. Known as “drop-box,” the interview waiver process allowed Nigerian applicants who met certain eligibility criteria to renew their visas by submitting their passports and supporting documents for review without going through a new in-person interview each time.

The process mainly targeted regular visitors to the US who have a history of applying for and receiving visas. One of the requirements for the interview waiver was for an applicant to have previously received a two-year visa.

With the new waiver suspension, all applicants—first time and recurring—will now be required to appear for in-person interviews at US embassies in Nigeria.

A likely consequence could be a drop-off in the number of non-immigrant visas issued to Nigerians. Compared to the drop-box process which resulted in a high rate of visa renewals for regular visitors, in-person interviews will likely result in increased scrutiny, a much longer process and, by extension, fewer visas issued.

There have already been local reports of visa drop-box submissions taking much longer to process over the past year, hinting at increasing scrutiny. Increasingly, drop-box applications have also been returned unapproved with requests for in-person interviews.

The possibility of a tougher outlook for applicants is noted in the US embassy’s statement as it says one of the reasons it has suspended the interview waiver is to “promote legitimate travel.” It’s rhetoric that is consistent with the Trump administration’s stance on immigration.

The suspension also comes one month after news that Trump administration has been considering new immigration measures to impose visa restrictions on countries whose citizens have a track record of overstaying beyond the validity of their short-term US visas. Nigeria accounted for the third highest number of US visa overstays last year.

The proposed measures included reducing visa validity periods, making it tougher for citizens from countries like Nigeria to receive visas at all and the long-term possibility of outright bans.

ADOS is Russian sponsored .....Soon as the election is over watch ADOS go away slowly

It's amplified by Russians and bots and one of the main faces of it is a part of a known conservative group that is considered anti black, but a lot of black folks have been caught up in the deception now. It will die down, but not die out.

After all of this, we're still here huh?

The nicest thing I could reply with is this "sis".

its better to be thought a fool and remain quiet, than to open your mouth, and remove all doubt.

Informative post.

That 2nd sister's got personality, i like her.

The 1st sister focused too much on what separates us. No we not all the exact same, with the same upbringing, history, culture and viewpoints. That doesnt mean we shouldn't come together/support each other on the issues/opportunities that we do have in common.

Haiti and the US are completely different worlds. I still see peeps from there come here and connect with ADOS everyday.

Yeah, she's usually an intelligent poster, but I guess all logic has been thrown out of the window when it comes to these issues. Is she an immigrant?

She's very vague about her background (like most critics of ADOS) but I believe she has immigrant family members, possibly parents. My guess is she is Caribbean or biracial.

I'm not vague about shit. I'm a black woman and unless ancestors coming from Indiana, Ohio or Kentucky makes me an immigrant, I'm not one.

We've also had this discussion recently so don't play dumb @T.

My grandfather on my dad's side was supposed to have been a runaway slave. I have Blackfoot Indian on my mom's side and Cherokee Indian on my dad's. I also have a cousin that lives on a reservation somewhere due to our ancestry. My brother did a DNA test, if I recall correctly Cameroon was the major African country and a bunch of other places.

My ties to this country or ados is not in dispute, I just think the entire way they are going about it is stupid and divisive. Their threads are worse than the flat earth threads and in the age of social media the stupid is spreading. It's just like Trump riling up folks over perceived issues. This is just the black version of Trump voters, only they are too stupid to vote and think someone is just going to give them what they demand.

I don't know who died and made you the decider of all things ADOS but I don't have to answer to you or prove shit. All the years I've been on this board I've never repped myself as anything other than a black American woman. You act like a child trying to taunt some into a confession. Well I have nothing to confess other than you're a dumbass.

Camille, do you have immigrants or white people in your family yes or no? Are both of your parents, black with roots in the antebellum south, yes or no? What city do you currently live in? You call yourself a "woman of color" thats pretty vague. Never met a black man that called himself "a man of color". :(

I don't owe you my family tree. If reparations are ever paid out, I'd more than qualify. I'll say this and it's the last time I'm answering you on this subject. I've told you before I'm a black American woman. African-American. Not Haitan-American or Jamaican-American or some other country-American. Just your everyday basic domestic BLACK person. Nothing exotic. I don't have a country to hyphenate my heritage with because my ancestors were also enslaved. I have native American and other mixtures in my back ground, as do most black Americans, but we know damn well that with the one drop rule that America had to disenfranchise blacks and keep us property that none of that matters.

I've never referred to myself as biracial or anything other than black. So stop inferring I'm trying to hide some nefarious ancestry. Having compassion for other groups doesn't make me something other than black, it's supposed to be one of the hallmarks of blackness to have a generous heart and spirit. Anything that tells me I have to be cold hearted or shit on other black folks because they came from some place else is not for me.

I realize there are black folks from other countries who look down on us and vice versa, but that is because what we've been taught about each other is all filtered through white supremacy. We have supposed ados black folks on this board who look down on other poorer ados black folks because they have also brought into the lies of ws or do not understand how ws has affected our communities. We have non ados folks who have been contributing to this board for years, and suddenly I'm supposed to write them off because you and some chick named Yvette say so? No. Not happening.

It's just more division. If the police beat a black immigrant do we sit out the fight now? The police aren't checking DNA results before deciding whether or not to beat a black persons ass, and white folks aren't asking for our family history before deciding whether or not to discriminate against or hire us. So AGAIN, get back to me when you have a platform that doesn't require black folks to give up what little power we have by sitting out the election process, doesn't advocate against other black folks and doesn't do the work of ws.

What makes you say that?

:rolleyes2:

Do I really need to explain this? Let me ask you a question. What is the literal meaning of the word "bitch"? A female dog, right? Now, I just said "fuck both them bitches" in reference to the bitches in those two videos. Am I calling them female dogs? Of course not, but I'm using the word "bitch" in a pejorative and insulting fashion in reference to women whose comments and presentation are disagreeable to me. My use of the term is rooted in disrespect and contempt. If I were to call any woman a "bitch", it's highly unlikely I could explain it away to her, since it's general use towards women is disrespectful. If I were to call YOU a bitch, then the same applies. I doubt I could explain that away as being anything other than an insult.

"Akata" is the same thing. Regardless of the literal meaning of the word, it's used in a pejorative and insulting manner towards Black Americans. It's rooted in contempt. Those two bitches are trying to explain that away when it's obvious what the intent behind the word is in reference to us.

Check it. I have no problem with any continental Africans, or West Indians for that matter, making a distinction between themselves as Black Americans. They already do, unless it's convenient for them to not do so. And there should be a distinction. I just want US to do the same thing. And I want that formally codified in law; for example, just as we have Hispanic and non-Hispanic Whites. We can have ADOS and non-ADOS Blacks. They can have their own shit and we can have ours. We should stay the fuck out of theirs, unless invited, and they need to stay the fuck out of ours, unless we invite them.

lately you have been doing what you told me to not do which is going back a forth with these fools.

At this point, folks are trolling, because they cant be this stupid.

Re-read what I asked you, then try to respond again.

I've never referred to myself as biracial or anything other than black. So stop inferring I'm trying to hide some nefarious ancestry.

You described yourself as a "woman of color", a label Foundational Black Women are distancing themselves from.

Having compassion for other groups doesn't make me something other than black, it's supposed to be one of the hallmarks of blackness to have a generous heart and spirit.

Nah, more like the hallmark of a "mammy" or "slave" putting others interests before your own. And basically giving them your peoples history and struggle to co opt in the process, is borderline self hate.

Anything that tells me I have to be cold hearted or shit on other black folks because they came from place else is not for me. Where did I write non ADOS off on this board?

I just wont get back to you, and allow you to be left behind. Your 2008 ntersectionalist world view is dated and of no use to black society. And it has no bearing on ADOS bringing reparations to the national stage. We didnt need you shills co sign to make that a reality. You worry bout the white kids at the border, we'll worry about black children.

Its called common sense and respect. But more folks than we realized rely and survive off of co opting ADOS for the "dual nationality" hustle, so they will see it as "divisive" telling them to pick a side of the fence to stand on.

I've told you I'm black. Period. I know reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, but I didn't use big words so I don't understand the problem.

"Mammy" and "slave" are trigger words similar to when black folks were told to get off the dem "plantation" normally used to try to shame black folks and evoke a feeling of inferiority for having whatever view they hold. Save it for someone susceptible to it. You always take care of your own house and put yourself first, but you're advocating letting white supremacy make advances, and I can't support that.

Black folks are 13% of the population. If I recall correctly the largest share we've held is 22 or 23%. We have never made advances all on our own.

The underground railroad? White folks helped out. Emancipation proclamation? Lincoln's possible black heritage aside, it was signed by a white man. MLK and black panther marches? Mixed crowd. Civil rights legislation? All white Congress and president. Pressure to get it passed? Mixed groups advocating for passage. White reporters showing us getting hosed down and advocating on our behalf.

You want reparations? How many black folks are in Congress? There were only two black presidential candidates on the debate stage tonight, and I doubt either one gets the nomination. So the path to your goal is littered with white folks. Which means you either have to convince them to support your cause or scare them into doing so. Threatening to withhold votes from people who don't vote dem in the first place isn't likely to be very effective. You've already said you see no reason to lobby the GOP. I don't know how that math works to get to your goal, but I suggest you make allies and hope they don't tell you to hold your own nuts.

What overseers? Another trigger word I normally only see from white folks and Berniebots. I only have discussions about this on BGOL. I see tweets in passing. But I don't engage over it.

The negative impression comes from what is said by people on here promoting ados.

Y'all taking on the tone of white supremacists that don't understand the difference between black power and white power. You always have radicals on the fringe but black power is mostly about empowering ourselves, uplifting each other, celebrating black excellence, black networking. White power is always about denying rights, denying access, looking down on black folks and other minorities. Black power involves dominance over and command of oneself. White power involves dominance and power over others.

So when I see comments like this:
B4 when I saw a little of it I didn’t sweat it but it’s some conspiracy now. They had some filthy, hideous African play MLK now this. They are using these Africans to replace Ados. Tariq Nasheed pointed out that Steppin Fetchin was carribean not Ados.

Let’s be real here these Africans and even islanders look at themselves as different than Ados.

It's less about uplifting ones own, and more about denigrating others. You're using a white playbook and somehow don't even realize it. Non American actors getting roles over American blacks is a valid concern. How does that make them filthy and hideous when they do so?

You straight out of WS playbook being so anti-reparations and promoting every group above ADOS. Promoting the superiority of every other groups issues over ADOS. We at least got you saying you "black" now instead of that POC erasure BS. Next we gon get you to actually take pride in your ancestors the way you take pride in white womens feminism. We havent budged, but your white heroes in the DNC did, so now you guys are. :smh:

We Russian bots, we Trump supporters, we WS, what else you got? Your shaming tactics and negativity is only drawing more blacks to acknowledge they ADOS and to dissasociate with the racist Democrats. Not the opposite. Yall work for us and dont even know it.

Team Akata, yall better cape for Hidden Colors 5, the way yall caped for that Nigerian bedwench starring in the Harriet movie.

That’s her nail in the coffin

Bitch never had a chance. She only appeals to some cacs in California, immigrants, and black folk who dont take pride in being black so they have the "open membership eligibility" to blackness policy for "allies". So her masquerading as a $5 ADOS don't bother them.

I only use Woc and PoC when referring to people in more than one racial group. I specifically used minorities instead of PoC so yall couldn't latch on to that as a distraction and you couldn't help yourself you had to make it an issue anyway.

I have an entire thread devoted to black issues, which come to think of it I've never seen you in. I don't support other groups above black people. I've never even discussed immigration prior to Trump being in office, however the current mistreatment of immigrants is a time sensitive issue. People are currently in distress and our government is setting precedent of ignoring established law and using our tax dollars to abuse children. Our so called Christian nation is persecuting other Christians. I have not advocated for folks getting jobs or even staying here. Your ass would be in jail if you left your dog out in 110 degree heat with no water and shelter, yet you seem to be ok with inhumane treatment and the same type of dehumanizing language being used toward them as has been used toward us.

Wrong is wrong. I was raised to believe that black folks were supposed to stand for what is just at all times. Some didn't get that same upbringing.

You quoted my post but still didn't answer the question you dodged in the other thread: how is referring to non ados blacks as filthy and hideous uplift ados and get us closer to reparations?
