Same here. Dude was the champion, with a weak ass finisher. The only time I kind of cheered for dude. Was when he was the Hollywood Hogan character. I always thought Hogan was overrated.

Not to mention the opponents. Flair did a way better job of putting over his opponents in their feuds. Flair just had all around better opponents and angles. It wasn't just about the guy being larger than life physically. NWA/WCW and the majority of the promotions WWF picked wrestlers from just had better personalities that made them larger than life. Of course there was a noticeable size difference between a Ricky Morton, Barry Windam, Sting, or a Eddie Gilbert, but it wasn't primarily the focus of the feuds.
WWF would shoot wrestlers from the floor up a lot so the viewer would be put in the perspective of a kid watching wrestling ultimately eventually insulting the intelligence of the adult viewer if they weren't super mark. NWA/WCW, before they went on a higher every WWF guy in the mid 90's had a better grounded atmosphere. The focus was what was in the ring, not how "Look how huuuuge everything is!"/Vince voice.
