The House voted on Wednesday to table a resolution from Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, to impeach President Donald Trump over racist comments he made about four Democratic congresswomen of color, effectively killing the measure.

The vote — 332 to 95, with one lawmaker voting "present" — marked the first time the Democratic-controlled chamber had weighed in on impeachment, an issue that has created a widening schism within the party. Progressive newcomers and several 2020 candidates have pushed for impeachment proceedings, but the House leadership, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has been resistant.

Nobody was losing their seats on an impeachment that would be squashed in the Senate.

The public polls have been telling Dems for months that impeachment isn’t popular. And Pelosi is has been signaling for months there aren’t the votes to impeach.

Right now, the administration is in court seeking to take healthcare away from millions. Normally this would be a problem. But have you heard a single Dem talk about it?

Trump throws out a distraction with the “leave the country” squad attack and Dems fall for it yet again. So Trump can get rid of Obamacare in silence while we talk about “send her back” chants and Mueller.
 
Maybe we should just focus on surviving the next 5 years and after since his affects will linger on beyond our lifetimes. How in world did Black People survive the times during and after Reconstruction.

We as black people are strong and we faced real racism and real white supremacy. So trump is nothing.

It’s the other groups that are shaking in there boots. Trump has his foot in all of there asses. Which is why I’m not so bothered with trump at least he is sharing his white supremacy with other groups.

I'm slowly starting to see that this is the reality. Not just for Black people, but for everyone.

America has a million serious problems that Donald Trump has nothing to do with. impeachment isn't going to fix our healthcare, infrastructure, insane college loans, partisan gerrymandering, white supremacist terrorist groups, etc to Infinity.

perhaps we shouldn't be putting so much trust in the federal government to handle these things and instead focus on our state, county, city and community governments.

At the end of the day it's the states and cities that are instituting the $15+/hour minimum wages, universal basic incomes, public health care, free college tuitions, sanctuary for illegal immigrants, gun control, legal abortions, legal marijuana, green energy and everything else on the Democrat wish list. This federal government we keep talking about matters a lot less than everybody thinks.

Maybe the next president should be somebody hands off. Somebody who can cut ribbons, break ground, and let the rest of us handle our own problems.

Trump is only a symptom of a failing federal government. One that has been completely coerced by right-wing Republicans.

Speaking of which, how did they get the means to completely co-opt the federal government in the first place? It was by focusing on the state, county, and city governments that the Democrats neglected.
