*****UFC 239 - JONES v. SANTOS and HOLM v. NUNES******

MMA got his judging system from boxing, that’s why to be the champ you have to beat the champ until further notice. :dunno:
mma has its own scoring system developed by John McCarthy, also in boxing that’s not a rule it’s a saying as well. That’s it. The person who wins the most rounds wins the fight, those are the rules. If the judges ignore that then they’re wrong.

To heat the champ you have to beat the champ is what people say to justify bad decisions or when the fighter they’re a fan of loses a close decision and gets the win anyway lol show me where I’m any sanctioning body rule set it says that to be the champ you have to beat the champ or anything about championship rounds lol now imo jones could have easily beat sontos and if there’s a rematch it’ll be ugly

people don’t know how to score fights. That having to beat the champ and championship rounds is bullshit. That’s just what commentators say, you score each round individually that’s it.

You can't almost win against any champion...you have to visually and mentally dominate in the ring to get that split decision against a champ.

To my knowledge then judges submit their scorecards at the end of every round. At the end of the fight they tally up the scores.

So at the end of each of the five rounds more judges felt like Jones won? That’s BS.

Like i said, I’m happy he won but he didn’t “Win” that fight.

There was some serious leg damage applied by both fighters.

I wouldnt be upset for Jones vs Santos 2 fight

THIS...I dont know why nobody on here or in the UFC (Joe Rogan) is acknowledging the fact that Jones leg got fucked up too...THATS why he didnt go for takedowns, his shit was lit up look at how much help he needed to leave the octagon! Everyone keeps saying Jones should have done more, and that he should have went for the leg....watch the fight again you will see that Thiago kept that leg protected by leading with his right and switching in any situation that had that left leg out front, also in order for jones to kick that leg properly he would have to use his left leg and it was clearly fucked up. Good Technical fight that could have gone either way but lets not understate how fucked up Jones leg was as well.

Wouldn't mind a rematch. Both were fighting on one leg for four rounds.
Not much else left at 205 for Jones
