Debate: Was THIS the man who should have played Batman all along?

Keanu Reeves cannot act or have the vocal skills for dialogue delivery.
It depends on the actors around him to articulate what is happening when watching him.

Don't me wrong, I like his movies but he cannot ACT.

My idea?

They should do the Flash movie

Team up style with cyb

Do flashpoint.

Merge the cinematic and tv universes

So you can fully incorporate the multiverse scenerio.

So ALL the movies happened.

Just not in the same universe.

So they can still do stand alone films

AND cheat...

use the Monitor use the Flash use Darkseid etc as the only constant.

Now you can do both bring back keaton and even afflack

But introduce legion of super heros justice league dark etc.

That way you can still make lower budget films specific to genres without messing any over arching story if you want to go that route.

Oooo

I like

Oooo

I like

What i find interesting is so many folks criticizing Reeves acting...

Like any Batman outside West, Keaton, Afflack and Bale.

REALLY got to act.

The costume takes over.

We aint really seen some huge emotional arc behind the mask.

We HAVE seen that in thor, captain america, black panther, iron man even wonder woman to an extent.

Its ALWAYS the young bruce in the alley that ever shows real emotion.

If Keanu could play Neo, John Wick and Constantine?

Batman aint gonna be an issue.

And i got killed on the board earlier cause i suggested a movie concentrating more on The great detective and bruce aspects of Batman.

But now dudes want Deniro in his prime behind the mask.

I been saying this for a while. I'm a mystery/"I gotta solve it" freak so I would love the whole spiel of how Bruce puts it together.
Love it.

And the Keanu Constantine movie was not bad at all. After Matrix I thought he would revert back to Bill and Ted and couldn't be 'serious', but that was a solid flick. Not great, but solid. Honestly though, if he can put as much time and effort to physically train for John Wick in shooting dem guns, he can get with an acting coach and prove some of these cats wrong.

Dude come from the Master P school of performing arts .....

AGREED!!!!!

Many of those pre Marvel renaissance comic book movies REALLY deserve a reexamination...

now that is a REALLY cool podcast we could do together, re watching those EARLY comic book films in the context of NOW!

What I’d like to see....

An Animated Tim Burton directed sequel to Batman Returns, following the story The Long Halloween
featuring the voices of;
Michael Keaton(Batman/Bruce Wayne)
Billy Dee Williams(Harvey Dent/Two Face)

Podcast?
Who got a podcast?

Its time for Batman Beyond, really don't want another Bruce Wayne again as dope of a character as he is, I wanna see Terry Mcginnis

But was that refreshing? To see the villains take the focus? We still don't know which story of the Joke is real...there is a need for that, no?

Not necessarily refreshing because what would be better is an incredibly deep villain
And a multilayered hero who's not pure hero mostly anti but his compass of right coincides with our compass of right
I am a villain fan so I always enjoy expect and prefer a villain with depth
But also the hero should be someone not just a prop

But doesn't ever director forget to focus on Batman?

So far yes
Idk why
I'd show how Batman actually runs in the same Underworld circles as his villains
And in another life they'd all be good friends
They have so much more in common than they have different
But the one difference is everything

Exactly.

But like I mentioned earlier whenever i say we need more of bruce (the public and the private) and especially more of the DETECTIVE.

They yell in outrage that nobody cares about Bruce.

But based on the films?

Nobody cares about Batman much either.

You NEED a proper villian its essential

As we saw with thanos killmonger and the joker...

It can drive the entire narrative...and be iconic

But we can never forget the hero.

We shouldn't root for the hero because we are supposed to... but because we want to and need to.

Who or what have you see that does the villain right? Give them justice? And did their counterpart live up to that narrative?

I'm curious...

Sidebar...

They have been very lazy with villian selection in big screen batman.

The Joker is his greatest nemesis

And his direct opposite

Order vs sanity

Catwoman free will vs obligation

But there are much more villians as evidence by Gotham

You can do a non cartoonish version of Riddler, Penguin, Croc and freeze.

Like @largebillsonlyplease said all the best villians are cracked mirror reflections of the bat.

But we NEED to see the Bat beyond crime alley.

Yes that is his defining moment but there is so much more.

@melonpecan we need the Year One.

We need that se7en version of a Batman adventure.

We need to see the emotional turmoil of playing "Bruce Wayne" for the public.

We need to see the Bat fail.

We need to see the Bat WORK to solve a case. Looking for clues research interrogation disguises

The physical toll.

That is why i don't get the up roar about who is behind the cowl at this point.

Has it REALLY made a difference?

Seeing how it has ended, how did you feel about Gotham? I'm behind so no River Songs!

But you mean Year One. I know Gotham is not that, but considering its longevity, it's close next to the animated ventures. And it focused on the villains.
@largebillsonlyplease same question.

Seems like he might be better going the Cage route - voice overs are the ish.

Either way...

...Keaton for Batman.

The Michael Keaton's Batman are my favorite....
NO BETTER BATMAN THAN Michael Keaton.. bae
Really? I didn't care that much for him as the Caped Crusader. To me, he was like Timothy Dalton as James Bond. :dunno:
michael-keaton-batman-forever-sucks.jpg

Ben Affleck was a better Bat.

Why would you? They don't really drive home the point that all of this shit is just cause he didn't have therapy and work out his PTSD after witnessing his parents murder.
This is his therapy.

Bills was a big fan

I liked it alot but had done criticisms but now looking back as a whole, it was damn good.

Especially the freedom they had with using villains.

They were far from perfect but the casting was great, and they were really brave with the depictions

Again a lot of strike outs but a lot of home runs

Also they gave us the most in depth Bruce ever.

Killmonger was done right. Black Panther was done right. Panther ended up understanding Killmonger and also implementing some of the things that Killmonger wanted him to do in the first place.

Obviously Vader and Luke. With Luke missing something and seeking out several father figures (Yoda, etc) only to find out the father he was missing was the person he was after all along. While Vader's call to be evil override his emotional attachment to his own son whom we now know he thought he'd lost and thus set him on the path of evil in the first place? If the emporer said your wife died but you have 2 children there'd be no Darth Vader and there'd be no Luke Skywalker but one decision set them on a collision course on the opposite sides when it could have actually been so much different.

Obviously Thanos. We didn't agree with his methods but understood his purpose and saw what his vision looked like in completion with the world healthier but the grief was too much so they had to undo it.
But also he had the will to do the things that nobody else could do for themselves.

Kylo is a super tormented villain who knew his father and mother but was set astray but actions and emotions. He now prays to his grandfather the most evil man that's ever lived in hopes of being good enough and surpassing him and his legacy meanwhile his counterpart vaguely remembers her family and has been searching for her place her entire life. 1 has a goal and is trying to reach it. the other is just trying to find out where they belong. Collision course on opposite sides but in the moments they share they realize they're not all that different in the longing and wanting to belong category they just have completely different fundamental ideas on how these things should be accomplished.

Bruce is alternate personality

Agreed why not show that then?

We NEVER do.

He is the great detective too he is the firever greiving broken don he is the mentor to robin the little boy to Alfred

He is a broken mirror the masks

But we only see the same thing

Bruce heart to heart with Alfred

Bruce at a party with 2 women

Bruce arriving late for a board meeting

Batman captures a low level thug hangs him upside down interrogation

Fight scene

Batmobile chase

Gravel voiced speeches

Batman has to try and save the villian who dies.
