Cape Verdean people I see online often... trouble me.
I've seen videos of young men & women who are Cape Verdean claiming not to be Black, yet they are as dark as any African from the Motherland.
A very perplexing racial identity issue, indeed...

if given an opportunity. Say what you want about Ethiopians, or even people
who live in the Sahel, who might be part Berber, the only thing they have ever
claimed, or wanted, to be is African... So if this little insignificant Island wants
to be European, we will allow the EU to come and throw a chain around it
and tug it to Europe..

Nor is it not some "little insignificant Island". It's very clearly an island full of people of African heritage and descent.
Unfortunately though, far too many of them seem to be deluding themselves about the value of their racial heritage or are blind to its significant importance...
