Avengers: Endgame (2019) Discussion Thread (SPOILERS)

Okay, so Captain Marvel tracks down Fury's pager, jump scares Black Widow and is told about Thanos, Rocket tells her about the signal he got from his ship and asks her to get it, she says yes but first she insist on not using her advanced tech to tell Tony that help is on the way and insists on getting her hair done and putting on make up before heading out. Brings Tony back and then converses with people as if it's her first time speaking with them.

I am NOT sorry that I didn't think of that.

Her entire introduction and presence was poorly presented, written and edited.

First of all, I think one must take into account they had a ton of shit they had to squeeze into the movie. I'm sure they left a lot of stuff on the floor. I'm hoping the directors cut is at least an hour longer. That said, I think they did a great job with the time constraint.

It was Tony and Cap's movie. Hawkeye, Thor, Widow, Nebula (!), Banner and Antman (!) were secondary characters and everybody else was basically a cameo. The plot was quite good, I thought but because they had to resolve many, many things there weren't too many battle scenes compared to earlier movies.

Bottom line is I enjoyed it. I'm going to watch it again a few times and then revisit my critique.

BTW, Danvers looks way better with short hair.

Actually they cant without Sony's permission, same way they had to for Spiderman.

Hulk and Namor are different because Universal doesn't have character rights only distribution rights. Sony has character rights. Same way they couldn't borrow the Xmen or F4.

There is nothing to clear up in this universe. The stones are not needed anymore in this universe. In the comics I don't think the stones were destroyed, just placed in different areas through out the universe.

i also understand there are numerous stories within the comics involving the stones, so im asking in the event of stones being destroyed in the comics what did that mean for that particular universe?

Correct. The movie gave the stones limitations thankfully unlike the comics. That way they can't be brought back over and over and not just anyone could do the snap. Marvel whores them out like the Phoenix Force in the comics.

The problem with Namor is that there are 3rd parties attached to Namor's film rights in addition to Universal having distribution (producers = money that brought Namor's rights to Universal kinda similar to F4 @ Fox)

Marvel would have to partner with Sony on BP2 to do what you are suggesting with Moebius and Kraven
or do something like give Sony a HUGE discount on licensing fees on a future Spiderman project

They are negotiating - Hulk has a 3rd party involved too - but those guys were able to get paid from 2 Hulk movies
My guess is the terms for Namor deal are different or those investors want to make a profit or keep finding ways o declare the licensing fees as a tax write off

This maybe the unpopular opinion, but Endgame Thanos >>>> IW Thanos BUT both were effective for the tones of the movies

Thor decapitated the infinity war thanos. That version was more so remorseful, honorable and seasoned. With the stones, he was on God level but he knows that there was a heavy toll that came with that level of power. Also by having the stones, he didnt have to fight anymore, and didnt even use armor. Eventually the bill came due for him.

Endgame Thanos from 2014 was more of a ruthless warrior that was slightly younger, strategic and quite frankly, did not give a fuck. The fact that he sat there and watched his own decapitation from the future and not have an ounce of emotion about it, only saying "thats destiny fulfilled" made him more terrifying. He didnt want half of the universe gone... that nigga said fuck EVERYBODY, fuck a 50% I want 100%. That nigga BOMBED...damn near NUKED the entire compound, without a question asked, then sat in the middle of the crater he left for the avenges like Cell and waited for them. SAVAGE LIFE.

If you ask me he was lowkey better without the stones, he still WORKED Thor, Steve, Tony, and even Carol.

Don't know if this has been brought up in here already (don't feel like looking). This idea suddenly looks possible now with some tweaks. I can see the government wanting to experiment with the quantum realm and sending in volunteers.

I would set fantastic 4 around the avengers/age of ultron timeline,Reed Richards and his team are pioneering a privately funded(Future Foundation) deep space exploring program. Reed got access to some alien tech from the chitauri ships, giving new options for the ship durability and propulsion system making leaving earth very easier. The team Ben Grimm(pilot) and Johnny Storm (Intern/mechanical expert) and Sue Storm (radiation specialist), Victor von Doom (physicist) plus a small-ish crew of extras. They soon gave a functional model and a mission is given the greenlight.
- day of launch Von doom is nowhere to be found, cut to the Sokovia incident we find he's from Sokovia he's taken his research on science and the occult and went back to his homeland. (No more mention of Doom that should be enough of a tease)
- cut back to the mission in space the team prepares to conduct its first incursion while in deep space when the ship gets hit by radiation (most of the crew gets dusted)
- Being hit by radiation in the middle of jumping into another realm alters the team(link it to ant-man), granting them fantastic new powers.
- Reed realizes they're not quite in the milky way....enter the Negative Zone.

The rest of the movie would be the fantastic four trying to navigate and escape the negative zone back to Earth. The main bad guy would be Annihilus who tries to follow them to Earth after Reed discovers a way out. By the time the make it back the world is post End-Game they've been in space for over five years(a day for them) explains why they weren't there to help.

Post credit scene: you hear lots of metalic marching inside a government building, bodies of dead politicians on the floor "All facets of the state are under your command my lord" cut to a metalic glove

So...in order for Namor to declare war on a sovereign country that is basically landlocked (think there's a lake near the Land of the Dead but that's it) in the MCU is....kinda farfetched without all the other parties involved.

that mf waited like a dude at the lake watching ripples in the water. but what he realized was by snapping away half the people in the universe , those that remembered couldn't move on with life due to the trauma of remembering. so he planned to strip earth specifically down and rebuild it without those who are left having memory of the world prior. also, he wanted to eliminate the avengers because they would not stop at trying to correct what thanos has done. he thought they would be satisfied with killing the 2018 version of him. but since they wasn't he took this shit personal with them.

Thor wouldn't have been able to do that if he was full strength. He was a shell of himself.

When I first saw it, I was wondering if he was limping going up the stairs. Then you saw the side of his face burned.

In my opinion, this was maybe the greatest cinematic achievement in Hollywood history. An EXTREMELY rewarding experience.... and as an aspiring writer, this is what i call a writers wet dream, i have never seen a film that lines multiple elements like this. One of the things that stood out to me the most was the fact that, how everyone says ant man was a throw away movie... this film has HEAVY ant-man influence. The quantum suits resemble ant-man costume, the pym particles that were later used by thanos to travel to the future. Dr pym told scott that he never wanted his tech in the hands of a stark... and eventually stark had to use his tech to develop his plan.

Gotta work in the morning but i will leave at this and continue my dialogue tomorrow: This is the only movie i have ever seen that is the greatest visual and storytelling achievement in history, but at the same time has HELLA plot holes, unexplained inconsistencies, and tons of missed opportunities. Time travel is my favorite type of science fiction.... but that shit has potential to get messy... real messy. They said fuck the rules and made their own. So instead of the future being changed when you in the past, all it does is create a separate timeline.... however the main timeline still exists.... so essentially they created the MCU multiverse. So this means that infinity war didnt happen in that timeline from 2014 but endgame did happen in 2023.... and if spider man come back to school and the whole schoolhouse got snapped that would be the biggest bagg of bullshit in fictional history, if half of the population vanished there is no way in hell the whole school went. And there were no paradoxes. present day neb killed 2014 neb... so umm... dont present neb fades from existence?? Time travel man....
