7:37 PM PT -- Law enforcement says Brittney told cops she was attacked by Remy after she entered the backstage area at Irving Plaza.

Brittney claims they "exchanged words" in the greenroom -- relating to an attack on Remy's stepdaughter, Dejanae, that happened a few weeks ago -- and Remy threw the punch. Brittney claims Remy accused her of knowing about the attack on Dejanae.

Brittney went to the hospital for treatment, and then filed a police report.

On Remy's side, sources close to her say there's no validity to this story.

Remy Ma is being investigated by police for allegedly punching another woman at a concert in New York ... law enforcement sources confirmed to TMZ.

'Love & Hip Hop' star Brittney Taylor claims Remy Ma punched her right eye Tuesday night during the Pretty Lou Benefit Concert at Irving Plaza near Union Square. Brittney and Remy have beefed on the show in the past.

Remy Ma was scheduled to perform at the event, which featured a set from Fat Joe.

Our law enforcement sources say there's an open assault investigation stemming from an altercation at the event, which included a female being punched. No charges have been filed and no arrests have been made.

Britney posted a picture of her black eye on Instagram and said ... "So, here am I on my way to a very important meeting and it’s hard to even focus because of what occurred last night. I didn’t wanna bring it to social media because Its pretty embarrassing and not a good look tbh. I tried my best to cover it up with make up and move on but that still didn’t work. My Question is @remyma why did you really do this?”

Remy Ma has been in trouble with the law before ... she was arrested on an attempted murder charge in 2007 and served six years in prison. She is currently on parole.

We've reached out to Remy Ma's team ... So far, no word back.

Chicks so thirsty for attention they will post their Ls. :smh:

They are already calling her "a rat" under her IG posts. She must know her rap career isn't about shit and she's now hunting down a civil case bag. Not sure how much she can get from a "Remy Ma":dunno:? However much it is; she'll get it.

Wonder if she still on paper. If so, she's screwed.

Yeah she's still on parole, but real talk.... I've heard Rem is "about that life," and I'm not saying she isn't,... But I just think she is moving smarter than that now... Like, she has people to "touch" people if need be

Being "about that life" as an adult, especially a parent , ESPECIALLY a mother , is stupid. Who gives a shit if some fineass mom is gangster? What kinda dumbass construct is that ?

I meant "about that life," as in her reputation and record speaks for her....

And when you're from where she's from and your family has to navigate and move where they do each day.... That matters.

If mfkrs think you're soft, you might as well be served up like dinner....

Fuck where she's "from" (btw tons of other people are where she's from and ain't that stupid ), where she IS now, is not there, and she's still acting like a fan animal. Where shes from last was jail. And now she may go back.

She may be 'about that life', but why would she allow Gloria Velez to put hands on her?

Reminisce Mackie (née Smith; May 30, 1980)

On July 13, 2007, Smith turned herself in to New York City police in relation to a shooting early that morning outside a Manhattan delicatessen. Police say that while she was with a group of people outside the Pizza Bar, a Manhattan nightspot, a verbal confrontation broke out at 4 a.m. During the entire incident, a gunshot to the torso wounded Makeda Barnes-Joseph, who had been accused of stealing one thousand dollars from Smith.[36] Police sources indicate that Barnes-Joseph later identified Smith as the shooter.[37] Security tapes from inside the club showed no evidence of any altercations or arguments. Smith pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder, assault, and criminal weapon possession.[38] Smith was later charged with witness tampering and assault after an August 2007 incident in which she was accused of causing several male friends to attack a witness's boyfriend.[39]

On March 27, 2008, Smith was convicted of assault, illegal weapon possession and attempted coercion in connection with these charges. She was immediately taken into custody pending sentencing scheduled for May 13. She was acquitted of witness tampering and gang assault.[40] At her sentencing, the judge noted her disregard for the victim following the shooting—commenting that the rapper rifled through the victim's purse looking for the alleged stolen money, as Barnes-Joseph sat seriously wounded in the car. Smith then exited the vehicle, jumped into a waiting car and drove off, leaving Barnes-Joseph bleeding in the front seat. No money was found in Barnes-Joseph's purse.

The shooting caused Barnes-Joseph to undergo several surgeries. In 2007, Barnes-Joseph filed an $80 million civil lawsuit against Smith for damages, along with pain and suffering. According to her lawyers, Smith was serving an eight-year term at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in Bedford Hills, New York, located in Westchester County and was expected to be released in 2015.

Smith married her fiancée, rapper Papoose, while incarcerated in May 2008.[41][42] During an interview with Hot 97 host Funkmaster Flex in July 2012, Smith announced that in 22 1/2 months she would be released.[43]

In February 2014, her husband Papoose confirmed that Smith should be released during July 2014.[44] On August 1, 2014, Smith was released from prison after serving six years.[45]

A misunderstanding led rapper Remy Ma to punch Love and Hip Hop star Brittney Taylor in the eye, Taylor said Friday.

Taylor and Ma—whose birth name is Remy Smith—had words Tuesday at Irving Plaza over an incident involving Ma’s stepdaughter Dejanae in Miami during spring break.

Taylor told the Daily News she “defended” Dejanae from an abusive man who was beating her up.

“What happened with me and Dej in Miami is I saved her—I saved her life, and [Remy] got aggressive [when Brittany told her at Irving],” she said.

“She was like, ‘That’s not what I heard,’ and she punched me in the face.”

Ma delivered the black eye to Taylor about 9:30 p.m. during a concert fundraiser hosted by rapper Fat Joe at the club. Cops are investigating, but have made no arrests.

Taylor was interviewed in the officer of her lawyer Sanford Rubenstein.

“Brittney Taylor is cooperating fully with the NYPD criminal probe,” Rubenstein said. “We are calling on any witnesses who saw what happened or have video of what happened to come forward.”

Taylor said she feels the episode set a bad example for young girls.

“I just don’t feel like it’s okay for people to put their hands on someone that’s not being malicious to them, that’s being genuine,” she added.

Ma, 38, has not commented on the incident. Nor have her handlers.

Ma is married to fellow rapper Papoose. She served six years in prison for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the torso outside a Manhattan deli in 2007. Barnes-Joseph sued her for $80 million.

Ma got out of prison in 2014 and was still on parole until Aug. 1 when she allegedly punched Taylor. It’s possible she could be returned to prison if she’s convicted of assaulting Taylor.

Yall want to blame everybody but the crooks for the recidivism rate. A lot of people don't give a fuck about jail until after the fact. This bitch had every reason in the world not to go out and do some dumb shit.
