Very predictable so far but the pace is so damn fast frenzied and chaotic...

I binge watched 6 episodes last night. I like it so far. The Walking Dead pissed me off so much I completely jumped ship after the whole Rick bullshit ended. These zombies are more aggressive and fast. I like the long continuous shots here too. They really show the physical exhaustion of dealing with evading and escaping. It seems to capture more of an "authentic" characterization of the scenario than other shows in the genre. I credit the ability of releasing through Netflix helping this also, AMC could NEVER do this type of dialogue but they have surprised me with the graphic violence.

Black summer is referenced, and yes, both films have zombies. The difference is that the zombies in Black summer don't behave the same way they do in z Nation. For instance, in black summer you rarely see them travel packs unless they're chasing the same person or group. They are so pack like in z nation they literally have zoonamis. The black summer zombies are also much harder to kill

Z nation is the zombie show that had a herd a state wide that made anything on TWD look like a few zombies loitering. It was so loud, the ground shook for miles and miles. Much like this show referenced the same heard, but in its early stages. Black summer is also when they first started having problems with water and food(you can't eat anything that has died). Same reason 3 of these characters were about to drop dead.
And harder to kill? Z nation hit the scene with a baby zombie taking out people and zombies in both universe are fast as fuck and figure shit out. It's just in Z-nation they 3 years in and skilled.
I don't get why the actress was trying to distance this show from both the zombie genre and Z-nation and make it some profound shit. She like one of the porno actresses going on and on about art. Bitch it's a zombie show and was sold as a prequel.

Z Nation literally had several zombies being killed by a giant cheese wheel. The zombies in Black summer need almost a full clip of automatic gunfire before they die.
Yes, you hear references to a herd in Black summer, but that's not the way you see the zombies acting in the trap house or the final episode.

Schaefer and Hyams also serve as showrunners for the prequel series.[1][13]
At the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con, Schaefer noted that "Black Summer is before the apocalypse got weird and was just scary." He said that the horror series is not intended to be the funny version of The Walking Deadthat Z Nation is, but would instead be more of an "old-school" take on zombie lore.[14] This was echoed by producer Jodi Binstock, who stated that the series is "not tongue-in-cheek, it's very very serious: it's as if the zombie apocalypse really happened in 2018 and explores what that would be for all of us."[15]
As the series will not feature any of the characters from Z Nation, Binstock later distanced the series from the "spin-off" label, explaining that "Black Summer is referred to in Z Nation as the summer where everything went to hell, so that is where Black Summer picks up."[15][16] Elaborating, Schaefer described the event of Black Summer as "the low point of the apocalypse" and established it as taking place "about four months into the apocalypse, [...] when 95% of the population dies over the course of the summer."[16] Within that context, Hyams stated that the "essence" of the story is about a mother being separated from her daughter. .... Except that this show really doesn't have a plot. It's nothing more than a horribly written low budget action-packed gorefest.

Exactly what I was saying about this being set in the same world as Z nation.
Black summer was super nasty because it was when all the food went bad. People died from trying to eat. Znation universe unique in that you have to keep animals alive to eat them. Shit went to hell in black summer and this season just touched on initial chaos. Zombie animals are a serious problem in the znation world.
Hope they do a second season so they can do more about all the bad shit that was said to have went down. They have a lot they can work with and always wanted a more serious show.

The humor on this show is very under appreciated
Its cause of the speed and pacing...
Its so chaotic there is so much going on
But the dialogue is solid
Fat far from perfect
Disney is coming for that ass lol.....and for half the price of Netflix
