I liked it, but I have no idea what it's about

Aight, once we start posting spoilers, let's see if you feel differently.Peace,
Because cats want Jordan Peele to win so badly that they’re lying to themselves. This wasn’t a great (or even good) horror film. It wasn’t even remotely scary and some elements were just plain ridiculous. I’m glad he’s still making his loot and continuing to promote blackness on screen but Us was mediocre at best. If not for Lupita it would have been terrible.

Hadnt seen it yet... But these are/were kinda my sentiments on "Get Out". Great premise.. subpar execution. I will go and purchase the ticket tho. Still looking forward to checking it out.Peace,

when i left the theater i said to myself that the movie was just ok, and wasn't what i expected. But as i thought about scenes over and over, it all started to make sense.Peace,
That’s just it though. I shouldn’t need any further explanation in order to enjoy it more. It's supposed to be a horror movie. It's supposed to affect you on a visceral level. If you have to dig for the deeper meaning it didn't do its job.

Peace,
I actually loved Get Out. I thought it did a fantastic job of telling a compelling story AND delivering a powerful message about this country’s fucked up racial dynamics. Us may provide a statement about race, class, identity, surviving psychological trauma, abandonment, etc. but what it does not successfully do is serve as a highly watchable horror flick. Maybe it works as a think piece but it definitely doesn’t work as a coherent story. I’d love to hear your thoughts after you peep it.
If everyone was asked most everyone liked the movie except for you, it’s probably not the movie...

i didn't view it as a horror movie or expect to be scared (real horror movies don't exist anymore), i saw it as more suspense or psychological thriller. There was only one part that made me say "oh shit".Peace,
See that’s what I mean. You should have a gut reaction to a film that’s being billed as a horror movie. I was in a theater Thursday night that was PACKED and literally the only time we had a collective “Oh Shit!” moment was when the doppelgängers all started walking towards the house. AND WE SAW THAT SHIT IN THE GODDAMNED TRAILER. Man that’s a fail.
Peace,
Or it may be just a group of cats who don’t realize that they’re operating inside of an echo chamber.

@Ill Paragraph
I don't know what the hell you are talking about saying it doesn't work as a horror flick.
It most definitely does.
Stop looking for jump scares.
I know EXACTLY what shot you're talking about...i just wish it was longeryeah, there was a nice shot of it, and she got some nice lips too.
Horror doesn't have to be scary.Peace,
It doesn’t work as a horror movie. It wasn’t scary in the least. It was actually pretty disappointing.
Saw it last night. The movie was on point and it'll make you think way after you leave the theater.
Horror doesn't have to be scary.
Look at Heriditary, not scary, but its disturbing .
Scary is subjective as well
Maybe I've watched far too many movies and my own background as a writer might be working against me, but I was able to predict the majority of developments and plot twists in this movie early on. The movie was really entertaining, but not very suspenseful for me.
Horror doesn't have to be scary.
wow, which acting are you referring to?some of the acting was GARBAGE
Typical BGOL crab in a bucket mentality i see.
Guess we just want black people in BBQ’s or hood movies.
Shout to Jordan Peele for putting us in different movies.
For those who say the acting is trash...i disagree. The main cast had to play to completely different versions of themselves. Lupita was excellent in this.
For those saying it wasn’t scary, it wasn’t. It wasn’t meant to be a jump scare horror movies but a movie that resonates with you long after. It was creepy and psychological but not a scary movie.
There are a lot of layers in this movie. It requires a couple of viewing like Get Out.
But as usual, if it requires some sort of thought, we will trash it. We are our own worst enemy sometimes.
wow, which acting are you referring to?
Well, I did say it was "really entertaining." It's not a "diss," but it does work against the "suspense" part of a suspense horror flick if you can see the plot twists coming from a mile away. I figured out the big reveal for this film in literally the first few minutes. I enjoyed the film, and I do recommend it, but it just lacked the suspense I'd hoped for going into it.Does predictability work against the quality of a film though?
I heard people say this like it’s a diss.
I had my wife watch In the Heat of the Night with Sidney Poitier and she said it was very predictable. I’m amazed like “you just totally missed the entire social commentary of race relations and character dynamics because you was trying to solve the mystery?”![]()
i got no problem with people saying the movie was horrible, but the acting? nah, that was one of the better points of the movie. The Father, The Kids....Their cac friends....
It was kinda annoying to say the least
Mostly, the dad... the acting mismatch between him and Lupita was glaring. She pretty much carried the movie. The Father, The Kids....Their cac friends....
