As I said earlier, Fresh Prince is one of my favorite shows of all time and honestly I think this darker, more serious take on the show would be pretty interesting, even going back to the sitcom some of Fresh Prince's best moments were it's more serious and darker segments.

As a fan made trailer this is very well done and I hope the director can get Will's attention and maybe they can do something with it.. This is much better than trying to do a continuation with the (now middle aged Banks children and Will) or attempting to reboot it with a girl...

I do think if the tone goes darker, some elements will have to stripped away, Geoffrey is no where to be seen because obviously a wisecracking butler would not fit in this version and while I can see elements of Hillary and Ashley in this darker, modern version I'm curious about Carlton, in the original Carlton was a nerd, a Black Republican but a funny foil to Will and a beloved character but in a more darker and serious version. Carlton can quickly become more of a villain when the ideas and politics of a young Black republican began to clash with a kid from the streets.

In just that trailer, I missed the lightheartedness surrounding the Carlton character.

I think he could exist as an anti-socialist anti-2019 left type without being a Trump Republican or embracing the anti-Black Lives Matter or more generally racist elements. Carlton getting arrested was one of the better episodes as I recall, though, so certainly a lot of room for exploration there.
 
id had prolly never watched it, as good as that trailer was, it's not the funny i demand from fresh prince of bel air.
 
Corny....Where is the drama on the mean streets of Bel-Air? Uncle Phil should have been an ex-con who created something that made him a fortune. James Evans Senior and he will whip yo ass. Kayne can play Carlton.
Aunt Viv was a KEY figure in the development of that show. Will never listened to Uncle Phil. Once they changed Vivs that show got lame as hell. I need to see a strong black woman for her role. Fine middle aged woman

Weak. Is this supposed to be fresh prince of bel air or Losing Isaiah?

The fact the original show was a comedy was genius mainly because when they did have true serious moments (like when Will and Carelton got harassed by the police or when Will met his Father) you would really feel the emotions they were trying to capture and the laughter would stop.

I'm sure he's seen it. I know somebody has posted him a link on his youtube channel or something.
 
I’m on the fence about this one, I feel like don’t be fucking with the classic shit ... Then I feel like it’s worth a watch ... I wonder how Will Smith feel about this, I’m sure he had to give the ok ...
