'The Flash' Star Reportedly Leaving Show After Season 5

Despite receiving an early renewal for a sixth season, one of the leads of The Flash could be leaving the show. If new reports are any indication, The Flash regular Carlos Valdes may not be a series regular when the show returns this fall.

According to We Got This Covered, Valdes is looking to "move on to new pastures" and plans to leave the show once this season finishes its run. The report says the show will more than likely make it a soft write-off, leaving it open for Valdes to reprise his role as Cisco Ramon in future episodes across The CW's Arrowverse.

Valdes is one of the most-tenured characters on The Flash, being introduced alongside Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) in a season two episode of Arrow. Though absent from a few of the most recent episodes, Valdes will be back on the show next week.

"IRIS’S LIFE IS THREATENED

After Iris (Candice Patton) lands in serious danger, Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) races to save her mother.

Barry (Grant Gustin) puts the finishing touches on the metahuman cure, leaving Cisco (Carlos Valdes) with a rare night off so he decides to take Kamilla (guest star Victoria Park) on a date.

Rachel Talalay directed the episode written by Todd Helbing & Jeff Hersh."

I actually like Cisco's character... I wonder, who they're going to replace him with....

This is gonna be a SEVERE blow to the on screen chemistry of that ensemble

Cisco helped craft a now central figure to any cw show...

Wynn, curtis and you could argue ray and steel are sons of cisco

And cisco helped streamline Felicity.

Wow...that is a major cog in the machine

And Joe is still out sick.

Hmmmm...

Maybe its time for both Arrow and Flash to say goodbye?

He's the one that come up with the names for the villains....They need to bring in a techie near the end of the season...

The Flash's New Cisco Rumor Is A Total Bummer We Don't Want To Believe

Cisco Ramon has been The Flash's main source for comedy, clever names, and quick travel, but a new rumor has us worried those days are coming to an end. While The CW series is confirmed to be coming back for Season 6, it's possible that Cisco is not. Yep, it appears one of the first main cast members of Team Flash could be on his way out -- if this rumor is true.

The rumor -- just a rumor -- claims actor Carlos Valdes is looking to move on from the role, and wants to make Season 5 his final season on The Flash. We Got This Covered referenced an anonymous source, who wasn't even 100% sure on the intel, but still felt "pretty confident" in its veracity. There was nothing more solid than that. But rumors were already spreading even before that post. So, with that said, should audiences be prepared to say their goodbyes to Cisco Ramon?

It's hard to say, as there's no denying Season 5 of The Flash has been a weird season for Cisco. First, Cicada stripped him of his powers, and Team Flash has essentially replaced him for fast travel services via the Extrapolator. He's also been a little more absent and further from the main story line than in season's past, and when he does appear as of late, he's working on the metahuman cure. Is he going to use it on himself?

That's a possibility, of course, but let's also remember the metahuman cure could be used to strip villains of their powers. Additionally, Team Flash is about as loaded with characters as its ever been, which may be the reason things aren't as Cisco heavy as they once were. Actors always have valid reasons for stepping away from long-running shows for a spell beyond preparing to leave, just ask Jesse L. Martin.

Plus, let's not forget that The CW has "Crisis On Infinite Earths" coming up later this year. One would think Cisco will need to be around to help move heroes. Without knowing the source of the intel, it feels as though someone could be reading into the show's direction and hoping to get lucky on a guess. Granted, this isn't the only person saying this, as rumors have been floating around on social media about Carlos Valdes leaving as well.

That said, the thought of Cisco getting written off of The Flash is incredibly devastating. Let's just hope that if it does happen, he's given the opportunity to ride off into the sunset so that he can return for a future adventure. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee that's going to happen with Cicada still lurking around. Killing off a character as beloved as Cisco would be a great way to add some emotional weight to this season.

Cisco's fate will continue to unravel on The Flash, which airs on The CW Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Keep up on all the other things happening with television with our

Rumors are rife that Carlos Valdes is leaving The Flash at the end of Season 5. According to We Got This Covered, Valdes is taking a break from Team Flash to pursue other endeavors. To be fair, he has been a main character and season regular for five seasons now, from the very beginning, he is absolutely deserving of a break.

Cisco Ramon is such an important character in The Flash, that it is hard to imagine the series without him. His character sets the tone, the comedy, the pop-culture references and helps make the show current and fresh. His character also has some of the darkest and scariest moments, such as when confronted by Reverse Flash or when vibing ominous upcoming threats.

Ramon is one of the few characters who provides clarity and brings the show back to earth (sometimes literally) by being highly relatable and yet a hugely likable character. If he leaves, it will be a loss to the show as Carlos Valdes is such a brilliant actor and plays the different sides to Cisco with such a great personality.

However, it is understandable why now might be the best time to leave for Valdes. First, his character doesn’t have any major arcs of his own, other than his issues with the dark matter in his hands recently and wanting to lose his powers, wanting to find himself a cure. His character is more supporting these issues, rather than dealing with personal matters directly. These are issues that could be applied to any character rather than distinctly Cisco. These are also issues that if they are solved for the character, will take away one of his key contributions to Team Flash going forward, and make the character’s possibilities more restricted, by removing his meta powers. Of course, he could still be the science and tech guy in the chair, like Felicity Smoak but this would also retract from Iris’ role.

Secondly, most of the character’s personal stories have been resolved and already covered. We’ve seen Cisco’s struggles with love with different relationships. We know Cisco’s family and his struggled past with them. We know the majority of Cisco’s history and there aren’t that many gaps left to fill. If you compare this to characters like Caitlin Snow, Ralph Dibney or even Iris West-Allen, there are much more opportunities to expand upon these characters back stories.

If Valdes wanted to leave the show, leaving when most of his character’s story arcs are neatly tied up seems like a good time to go. It’s also been widely reported that if his character is written out, he will be given a soft exit in order to allow Valdes to rejoin the cast as and when he likes. This is great news for the fans, as means, we are not so much losing our well-loved Sci-Fi-Obsessed Cisco that we’ve come to love, but merely saying goodbye for a short duration. He will be back, at some point at least.

It is worth noting that The Flash also makes a habit of bringing actors back and so does the rest of the Arrowverse. Tom Cavanagh’s character has ‘left’ so many times and been constantly reincarnated. Caity Lotz left Arrow to be resurrected and rejoin the Legends a little while later. Katie Cassidy’s character was killed only to return as her Earth-2 doppelgänger. Michael Rowe as Deadshot, Chris Wood as Mon-El, and not forgetting Wentworth Miller frequently returning as various versions of Leonard Snart. I don’t believe this is the end of Cisco at all, rather if it is confirmed that he is leaving, Valdes probably wishes to try his hands at other things and have a change of scene, and I can’t say I blame him. So let’s try and get over the heartbreak and devastation at this possible news and instead look forward to working out how he might be written out and in what format he could return in the future.

I have no idea but I hope they keep the Sherloque character...Also,I think Cisco will come back but as a limited character, just like Curtis on Arrow.

I'm SURE Cisco will be back (unless here is MORE to the story here)

the actor who plays Wells needs a special recognition award when all this is said and done.

I am hopeful that in a LIMITED role We will enjoy Curtis more.

But I also hope we can see a DIFFERENT version of Mr. Terrific introduced.

@fonzerrillii

What in the shit...

You can’t have flash without Cisco...

Hell you can’t have the arrowverse without him...
My man makes all of the tech...

Watch them move Curtis to the flash when this happens.

He's hamming it up. He knows how ridiculous this role/character is.
ok ok ok ok okay correct me if i am wrong..his staff takes metas powers away right so when it boomeranged and hit him then his powers should have been taking away right? so how on earth did hi fly away then.his character is the worst in all 5 seasons.this dude escaped twice which is some bull.

Dude

I thought he would have improved since American pie but my man has regressed

How can you be worse then Tara Reid??? How is that even possible.

I do NOT understand how THIS performance is getting a pass.

It is HORRIBLE.

Its not hammy or overacting, it just a WRONG choice.

Remember how they KILLED Jada Pinkett on Gotham?

and then IMMEDIATELY EVERY VILLAIN did the same acting technique of going OVER BOARD?

This argument over Barry using the cure to prevent king shark from eating Cisco was enough to almost make me completely give up on Flash
