I've heard over the years a lot of these rappers ( and other black celebs in general) are not the people they claim to be, many are Africans or from the Caribbean for some reason pretending to be Black Americans. May explain why so many black entertainers distance themselves from the rest of Black America.

I lived in the dirty south for 5 years. That's apart of hip hop culture for many young Black men and women. Youngsters from his era idolized Lil Wayne and a slew of other rappers with tats all over. Coming here from Dominica as a child doesn't make him less acceptable or susceptible to the culture.
