Sugar - Insulin

As I get older, all my weight is congregating in my stomach. I'm not really even gaining weight, but the stomach was getting bigger. I'm not even waiting for new year goals. I'm starting tomorrow.

This is church. I am back to less than my college playing weight thanks to intermittent fasting and moderate exercise. I feel like I can line up right now.

Fasting causes spikes in insulin production it’s not good for you. It harms your body it’s a shock to the system

Went from 270lbs to 215lbs using intermittent fasting, and I've never felt better. Weight has been off for almost a year now. I had to stop because I was losing too much weight, had got down to 208lbs...

Good for u, man! Will u plz elaborate on how u did it? How many hours was your eating window? Did u count calories? Limit carbs? Thx!

You should go check out that thread that @darth frosty posted the link to. We've been talking about intermittent fasting for a few years now.

To answer your question(s) my feeding window was 8hrs per day. Since I work evenings, mine was 3p to 11p. I limited the types of carbs I ate, didn't necessarily limit carbs. I ate lots of veggies and protein and drastically reduced my sugar intake... so no candy, soda, anything with HFCS was off limits altogether.

That alone helped me lose weight. Couple that with a decent workout plan and I was losing weight like crazy.

i cut out sugar...high fructose corn syrup...sodas..juice...etc..

i lost 30 pounds in like 2 months...and i'm still losing weight...

i'm down like 50 lbs total...
I think overall I lost almost 100lbs.

I got down to about 240 from 308 initially, then my mom passed and I put 30-35lbs back on while going thru depression and coping with the loss...

I finally got out of that funk when I saw a picture of myself on New Year's Day and decided I didn't want to look like that anymore. I re-dedicated myself to my diet/exercise plan and got to 208 at my lowest.

At 6'3 I felt 208 was a little too thin, so I cut back on my intermittent fasting and limited it to 5 days on, 2 days off. Now I am consistently between 213-217 lbs...

I just follow this as a guide:

How Many Calories Do I Burn Every Day?
When researchers evaluate the total number of calories you burn, they refer to the number as your total energy expenditure (TEE) or total daily energy expenditure (TDEE). TEE (or TDEE) is a combination of these different factors:
  • Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). Your resting metabolic rate is the amount of energy your body needs to maintain basic functions like breathing, circulating blood and building cells. Things like age, body size and gender affect your resting metabolic rate. Your RMR accounts for 60-75% of the total number of calories you burn each day.
  • Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT) This is the amount of energy that your body uses to do daily activities like washing dishes, typing on your computer, or walking around your office. The number of calories you burn from NEAT varies greatly based on your activity level.
  • Calories Burned During Exercise. The actual number of calories you burn during your workouts will depend on the intensity and duration of each session. Calories burned through exercise and non-exercise physical activity account for roughly 15-30% of your TEE.
  • Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). Your body burns calories to chew, digest and store food. Each type of food (macronutrient) has a different TEF. Eating protein burns the most calories by a small margin. TEF accounts for about 10% of the total number of calories you burn each day.

Y’all don’t have to listen to me my wife is a Physician. If you think starving yourself every few days is good for you then keep thinking the earth is flat. Eat small meals through the day , cut out as much sugar as possible, work out and don’t eat past 8. If you think tricking your body into a shock is healthy well.
