Red Dead Redemption 2 (spoilers)

Also be sure to always have hot weather clothing, fair weather clothing, and cold weather clothing stored on your horse at all times...

Trust me...

I made that mistake when I went off searching for the Arabian horse.
How do you store clothes on your horse again? I was way out in the middle of nowhere and the temp dropped to like 28°... I had to hit up the nearest small town and buy a coat

Assist.

When you are at your Camp/Tent, or at a Hotel, or at a Tailor, or at a General Store... while you are 'trying on' different outfits... in the bottom right corner, you will see an option to 'store outfit on horse' by pressing the [square] button on PS4.

When you store an outfit on your horse, the outfit will be marked with a saddle icon next to it, in the main menu. I think you can store up to (3) outfits by default, but if you visit a Stable and upgrade your Saddlebag to the "Deluxe" version... pretty sure you can store up to (5) outfits on horseback. (Sidenote: Be sure to 'equip' the Deluxe Saddlebag while you are at the Stable, or you won't be able to store additional outfits)

You can also 'change clothes' while on horseback... as long as you are either at a full stop, or while moving at a slow trot.

Here's some videos...

So what's the fastest lucrative way of making money in this game? Is it hunting, robbing, bounties, or gambling

Using Glitches (for gold bars) is the absolute fastest way to make money. Hands down. And its not even close.

(Several 'glitch' videos were posted in this thread, a few pages back. And they work.)

But if you don't want to use glitches...
  1. Find/Use Treasure Maps (these provide the biggest paydays without glitching. But there's only a few of them.)
  2. Follow the Main Story & run Side Missions (these provide the 2nd biggest paydays & there are alot more of these in the game... than Treasure Maps. An old guy in your camp named Hosea usually has a 'money making' scheme or two... up his sleeve. So does Lenny.)
  3. Bounty Hunting (these provide the 3rd biggest paydays, imo. And there's alot of 'em.)
  4. Loanshark/Debt Collection Missions (Results vary. :dunno: but these tend to provide decent paydays & involve memorable stories + unique tasks. They are highly entertaining. :D)
  5. Robbing & Hunting (Results vary. :dunno: But you can make some decent paper if you sell the items to Fences & Trappers.)
  6. Gambling (From what I've seen so far / early in the game, Gambling doesn't pay alot in most small towns :dunno:... unless you are gambling in a bigger city like Saint Denis or Blackwater, where the 'pots' are probably bigger as well.)
In that order.

Just my opinion.

I wish there was away to buy explosive ammo instead of crafting it - so far I'm only getting fat from ducks and racoons

those rounds have gotten me out of trouble a few times and sometimes ended shit before it really even gets started...

"What I'ma hit you with you will make you motherfuckers duck
I bring pain, bloodstains on what remains
Of his jacket,
he had a gun he shoulda packed it
Cocked it,
extra clips in my pocket
So I can reload and explode on you rasshole
I fuck around and get hardcore
C-4 through your door,

Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention.... 'stay alert' and pay attention to the behavior of your horse at all times when riding through the countryside, especially off the main roads.

Even if you (yourself) cannot detect / see / or hear a LARGE (silent) predator... oftentimes your horse will get highly agitated whenever 'impending doom' is at hand.

Your horse might start to breathe very heavily, or buck, or shake its head, or sneeze, or whinny, or shuffle sideways, or (briefly) rear up on its hind legs, or turn in small circles... (or do any combination of these)... depending on the 'level of danger' it can detect & how far away it is. (And the more you 'bond' with your horse, the easier it becomes to detect these signals & its mood right away.)

If there is a dangerous (human) enemy lurking nearby, or a Grizzly Bear, or a Mountain Lion, or a pack of Wolves... that is (silently) stalking you... your horse will be the first to let you know... which gives you a little bit time to get ready. Sometimes these 'subtle hints' in your horse's behavior can make all the difference between life & death.

The realism is on point.

The horse will also make these sounds (whinny, sneeze) if you run it through bushes and twigs.... just like a real horse would if you ran its face through bushes and it will give a loud Whine if you accidently run through a cactus.

I think you can buy explosive shit from the Fence.

I know I got some Dynamite and a flaming bottle from one.

I wouldn't go that far. Star Citizen gets shitty framerates on powerful rigs. My setup kills an X and my framerates are in the 20s sometimes. It's just a really poorly optimized game that may not come out for another 5 years if at all.

GAWD DAMN IT...

I just want to play this game for like one second... but I don't have anything close to the power needed to run this.

Stealing the Oil from the Oil Fields at Night might have been the Hardest fucking thing that I've had to do in the game so far hands down.

It's way more ARMED kats guarding that shit at night...

I watched every fucking video on that Mission and I kept wondering why the men weren't walking in a pattern when I played it.. Everyone was standing guard.

As soon as I got on either carriage I was instantly shot at from all sides..

and once I left the Oil fields... those mutherfuckers would chase me on horseback shooting at me for miles...

Shit was intense....

Speaking of ‘Attention to details’...

Has this happened to anyone else? :dunno:

So I bumped into a random CPU guy/civilian... he pops off at me... so I decide to ‘antagonize’ him... and we end up getting into a Knife fight behind a building in some small town (I forgot which one :dunno:)

I felt kinda disrespected that he had the AUDACITY to pull a knife on me... instead of a gun, or use his fists... like a real Cowboy would. :D

In my head, I’m thinking: “I WISH a Nucca WOULD!!!!.... (bring a knife to a gun fight.)”

So im like “fuck it... let me handle this light work.” :hmm: (and I pull out my own knife )

But he gave me a buck-fifty and slashed me across the face... and it was bleeding during the fight.

After I killed him, the wound stopped bleeding while i was recovering, as time passed... but I had a scar on my face for a long ass time.

And I was pretty sure I saw the scar in the next cutscene, when I ran the next mission, awhile later.

I don’t think that was a part of any mission storyline... Because I could’ve easily just shot the dude... instead of trying to ‘shoot the fade’, with a knife. lol

Not sure ‘how long’ the scar lasts, either. :dunno:

I got killed - then I waited for a shift change of the guards (I got lucky)
and just rolled out with no real problem

but also saw that if you wait or intercept it when the oil is being moved there isn't as many guards on the road with the wagon

Yeah I got my ass beat badly by 3 rednecks - had bruises and a black eye for days in cut scenes

But you have to be mindful of how far away you are from a camp or a trader because the skin and the meat of the animal will go bad. I’ve had meat go bad several times.

Also...

I don’t know if this has been mentioned but try to take a bath anytime you are able...

People will definitely treat you different if you look and smell like shit.
I've been trying to find a tub for THE LONGEST... Maybe I'm not as far along as the rest of y'all...
:puzzled:

there’s one in the first town...same spot where you can rent a room...you have to talk to the dude @ the desk tho...needed one the first time I rode into town...accidentally bumped a guy w/ my horse...the ‘wanted’ shit went up...sped off on my horse but forgot to press jump as I tried to clear a fence and he ran right into it which sent me flying into a pigpen...bath was much needed after that lol

swimming and riding your horse in rivers can keep both of you "clean"

also if you get drenched in mud or my case blood you can go in your saddle bag
- so far - for me -the 3rd outfit is always whatever Arthur is currently already wearing
select it and Arthur's outfil is now clean

So I'm next to the trapper, and decided to setup camp for the night there.
I'm bout to get my eat on and then some dude with no shirt walks up like, the fire is warm can I come a squat with u. Before I can do anything his buddy pops up next to me with his gun up to my head! Damn. These niggas caught me slipping. But the first dude give me a pass like next time homey be careful where u camp at. And the walk off. Man this game the shit.

I’m really trying to take breaks with this game but I’m sucked in like I never have on anything before ...

Some days... I just like to shoot a deer and bring it back to camp for some stew..

Shit is crazy.
I'm almost Happy that it's not out on computer yet. Because I'm about to go into the busiest time of the season and I know I would be f****** s*** up trying to play that game

I saw one of those dudes parked in Valentine behind a building, stealth killed him and rolled out. I don't even know how he got that far away.

Just playing the game and doing story missions.

As for outside of story missions I would say robbing camps and homes. Go get the gold bar if you want to do the glitch that's up to you. If you see smoke then there's a camp and you can rob them. You don't get much from hunting unless its an legendary animal.

Every hotel has a Bath. Just inspect the sign at the front desk.
However, not every town has a hotel that you can rent a room in.

got it! thanks!

I just tried the new update. Framerates range from 24fps to 150+. Much improved. I don't they're going for optimization since the development time is so far away and they want to future proof this as much as possible. As long as people are paying 10k for a spaceship I doubt they have any urgency to release it. :smh:
