I generally dislike white marching bands but

you know they have a band formation software for this right? we use to use it back in the day....but its pretty simple to select what you want and get the effect...but the real work is in the execution. bravo to thee Ohio state...but they still would eff with the HBCU bands.

Formations tight, but the music lacks soul.

C'mon, pretty amazing they would even put in what had to be a whole lotta time to choreograph those formations just to honor Michael Jackson.
As far as the music lacking soul, you can't reasonably expect them to sound like Motown. :hmm:

I can expect a group of polished musicians to sound better than that... flat-out

I was gonna mention that. I've seen it as far back as the late 90's. It looked almost like a video game, but you could do almost any kind of formation with the right number of band members and the time to practice that shit.

I remember in the 90's the big thing was to do the score of the game at Halftime with the Marching band.

Having gone to the Magic City Classic for over 40 years and watching A&M play numerous other HBCUS I haven't ever seen the formations Ohio State does.

Not saying none have done it but if as you say the software has been out there why not post some examples.

That shit aint shit when you cheating to do it anyway. The whole band has Ipads telling them where to go when they practice. Famu was doing this shit in the 60s with pen, paper, and teaching....

FAMU Star Wars show 1977, I believe
FAMU Football Player show 2000
FAMU Florida Classic 2000

No iPad. Soulful music. These white schools are swagger jaggers.

different marching band styles...regimental vs showtime....not even in the same realm. but the PWIs stay jacking the HBCUs style and showmanship. I have even seen some of them try to break it down in the half time show like HBCUs and do pretty good...but as it is often stated during the halftime....often imitated, but never duplicated!
