Netflix Discussion Thread: Iron Fist (New Trailer!)

I go Luke Cage and then Daredevil. It is mostly the chick that plays JJ. I am not feeling her.
I can see that .. After season 2,i don't like her either .. But this Danny character, has to be the the most unliked marvel hero ever... He's such a dummy everything he does is dumb & makes no sense I'm only up to episode 7 on season 2,so I'm not reading reviews or spoilers but it's painful....

Finished it. Way better than the first season. Good action, better story. Looks like there's gonna be a spin-off.

better than the first season, confused about the guns at the end .Did any of this happen in the comics?? I like Mary and misty. But I truly hate the blond iron fist he has to be the most hated marvel comic movie universe character, he is just corny and whining all the time

Look up Orson Randall.... The Immortal Iron Fist #1-6. (2007)
I'm gonna read'em but judging by the synopsis, not looking forward to it.

The fight choreography especially was a HUGE improvement.
Though the one with Colleen and The Crane Sisters/Daughters did come off a bit stilted.
And Ward has actually become my favorite character now.
I already sat through the first seven hours straight through.
Finishing it tonight.

Okay. Just finished. (So what I'm late, shut up)

#1 - Misty lost a little weight and she looks fucking scrumptious.
#2 - Danny looked better in the fight scenes but Colleen looked weak this time. Can also see where doubles were used pretty easily. But all-in-all the fights were much better.
#3 - Danny wasn't a grade A dick, so there's that. The acting was better, the story more focused, which was good. I think the 10 episode arc helped too. Not so much filler.
#4 - Marvel gets some tasty supporting actresses. Julee Cerda (Mika Prada), Natalie Smith (Bethany), Lori Laing (Avalon {Crane sister}) and several others. Not to mention Alice Eve.

But, what I don't understand is the ending.

So, Colleen has the Iron Fist/Katana and Danny has the Iron Fists/Guns???? :dunno::dunno::dunno::dunno::dunno:

I thought overall it was leaps and bounds ahead of the first season. Granted, that doesnt take a lot, but I actually enjoyed this season. Seeing Colleen with the Katana at the end was dope and I like how they tied her back story to the first woman Iron Fist being her ancestor. Danny with the chi choppers was kinda dope too even though I had to go back and dig out my handful of Immortal Iron Fist comics to get the reference. I loved the Typhoid Mary character. She was a highlight of the season for me. I wanted to see the Mika Prada chick get naked but I guess that was asking for too much. It looks like they set themselves up for a very ambitious story if they do a season 3, which I'm guessing they will.

Okay, so explain what's happening with Danny's guns. Does it mean the guns are Iron Fist? Or does he have Iron Fist that energizes the guns and they're just regular guns? That shit has me baffled.

I'd say it's pretty certain they'll explain it in season 3 but a brother is wondering.

http://marvelcinematicuniverse.wikia.com/wiki/Joy_Meachum

She is abhorrent of dishonesty, which caused her to push away her brother and Danny for lying about Harold (her father) being alive, even when they explained that they were doing so to keep her away from the Hand. Despite walking out on her father after discovering his ruthless and manipulative nature in betraying Danny after the latter had helped him escape the Hand, she later came to regret turning her back on her father right before his death. Leaving the company, she would grow to harbor a deep resentment to Danny Rand for "ruining her life", more than eager to accept Davos' offer to kill him whereas before she would have been repulsed at the very thought, such as when she would not approve of her father and Danny's plans to kill Bakuto and the Hand.

Davos offer to Joy to kill Danny, and her acceptance was in the last 5 minutes of the S1 finale.

Yeah, I totally missed that last scene in season 1. I had to go back and watch it. It's a weak setup but it gives you a little bit of reasoning for it.

So, Colleen has the Iron Fist/Katana and Danny has the Iron Fists/Guns???? :dunno::dunno::dunno::dunno::dunno:

The way I took that is that Colleen basically stole the fist from Davos the way he stole it from Danny. But Danny, haven gotten it legit from the dragon, always has the potential to get it back as long as he's alive and still has the dragon tat. So now he's chasing Orson Randle, who is another classic Iron Fist. The chi choppers were something he (Randle) used in the comics. The scene at the end, the Japanese dudes mention how Danny and Ward stole something from him and he wants his property back. I'm assuming it was the guns. As far as the fist itself, I guess Danny got his shit together and found his light somewhere in the months between the end of the season's events and the last scene. And if they are bringing in Orson Randle next season, I'm sure we will see him use the fist as well. So I guess we will potentially see 3 fists next season. How they explain that will be interesting. I aint gone lie though...I got excited seeing Colleen with the fist/katana looking like she knew exactly what to do with it. Danny had the fist all that time and couldn't even consistently keep one hand poppin, but Colleen channeling it through objects within months, which I'm guessing is due to her lifetime of training and her newly revealed ancestry.

They belong to another Iron Fist named Orson Randall.

I see. Yeah, I'm sure it will be explained. And I agree, I always thought Danny never lost the Fist/Heart of the Dragon. In fact I was expecting it to come out when he and Colleen were fighting Davos.

I dug this up off a review site

So, the big detail in the last few scenes of “Iron Fist” Season 2 is that Danny and Ward Meachum (Tom Pelphrey) set off on a trip to East Asia in search of Orson Randall, the person who sent Davos that old Iron Fist corpse early in the season. In the final scene of the season, Danny and Ward have been traveling all over trying to find Randall without much luck — though in Jakarta, apparently, they stole some of Randall’s stuff. Specifically, those guns Danny was using.

The important thing to know about Orson Randall is that he was an Iron Fist in the past, and he had martial arts skill called gun-fu. But Randall doesn’t use guns normally. No, he uses the power of the Iron Fist to channel his chi into those pistols — with the chi providing the ammo.

I was slick expecting it manifest as well. That's why the final scene got me hyped.

So, wait, they GIVE Danny the Iron Fist or he has to have the Iron Fist to make them work?

I think he has to have the power of the Iron Fist already to make them work. Iron Fist is just a mantle you can achieve, there are many Iron Fists, Danny is the 66th. Plus Colleens Katana was just a Katana until she received the fist.

List of notable Iron Fists here.

My understanding is its just them channeling their chi through the guns just like the Pirate Queen channeled it through her arrows. Why Randle's guns in particular are significant will probably be a plot point for season 3.

Yeah, me too. But that one line from Misty - Last time she saw Luke she didn't like what she saw and Colleen might be the only one that could handle him. DAMN. That sets up some serious shit in either LC season 3 or IF season 3. Or both.

What I'm hearing from folks close to the show is that Danny still does NOT have the iron fist, but the twist is that Orson Randal's guns don't work the way they do in the comics by being able to channel his chi/the fist through guns. Instead the guns are imbued with chi and thats why Danny is using them and is able to to use them because he was an Iron Fist. Also note that Orson Randall stole the book(s) containing all the history and techniques of the Iron Fist from Kun Lun, a book that only the Iron Fist can read which is how he is able to imbue the guns. So next season will be about Danny getting up with Orson and getting the fist back and learning more about the origins of the Fist and other ways to use it.

Okay. Makes sense. That sounds like S3 will be much more interesting. Especially if they crossover LC into it involving Colleen. And Misty already said she was getting a new "blinged out" arm, hopefully from Stark. Then it'll be much more badass than that wimpy shit she had and more like the one she has in the comics.

BTW, there used to be a member here named RED who used to post music links like crazy. That wouldn't be you would it?

Thanks for that. Makes a lot of sense. Sounds like they set up for a hell of a season 3.
