I like watching basketball. All types. I liked the WNBA in the early 2000s (Detroit Shock - now the Dallas Wings - was my squad). Now, the league is marketed so badly, you forget about it - even when there's a team near you! You hear about the games almost as an afterthought, like, "The Mystics played last night? I didn't even know they had a game!" This is happening even now - and the playoffs are almost over! If it were advertised better, then I would know when a team is playing, and I'd watch or go to the games. Nobody even mentions the games, not even on the news. You have to make a special effort to go to the WNBA's website or ESPN's website (where the coverage is buried and hard to find) to find out what's going on in the league.
To have even a ghost of a chance of getting more attendance, the WNBA needs to market themselves more, and market themselves better. Until you get people to the games, you can't realistically expect the salaries to be higher. Can't get attendance up when nobody knows when you're playing.
If Wilson doesn't like it, then she should play overseas, where the money's better, and the teams are supported more.
