Teddy Bridgewater has been looking super in preseason. Fucking Jets are just so determined to start damn Darnold. Use to be a time that NFL teams didn't give the ball to rookie Quarterbacks. I hope Bridgewater lights it up in New Orleans. Unfortunately, Brees is still there. If Darnold gets hurt or disappoints, I'm going to the Jets front office and fuck someone up.

The New York Jets clarified their crowded quarterback situation on Wednesday, trading Teddy Bridgewater and a 2019 sixth-round draft pick to the New Orleans Saints for a 2019 third-round pick, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

This reinforces the widespread belief that rookie Sam Darnold will be the Jets' Week 1 starter. Josh McCown, 39, who didn't play the past two preseason games, is expected to be the No. 2.

Bridgewater found out about the trade and boarded the team bus to say goodbye to his former teammates who were heading to Philadelphia for Thursday's preseason game, a source said.

The Jets went into training camp looking to trade Bridgewater, 25, whom they signed to a one-year, $6 million contract. They've already paid him $1 million in bonus money.

Bridgewater will cost the Saints at least $5 million for one year. He could earn up to $9 million more in incentives based on playing time, yards and touchdowns.

Bridgewater played well in three preseason games, completing 74 percent of his passes (28-for-38) for 316 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. His passer rating is 104.7.

The trade occurred one day shy of the two-year anniversary of Bridgewater's horrific knee injury with the Minnesota Vikings. Bridgewater played in 29 games for the Vikings in 2014 and 2015 but missed all of 2016 after dislocating his left knee and tearing multiple ligaments on Aug. 30 of that year. He has recovered remarkably and hasn't been limited in any fashion. He played in one game last season and signed with the Jets in March.

The Saints appear to have decided to upgrade at backup quarterback behindDrew Brees this year. But Bridgewater is also an intriguing candidate to eventually succeed Brees if the two sides ultimately decide to extend his contract past this season.

Brees, who will turn 40 in January, just signed a two-year deal with the Saints in March.

Bridgewater's knee injury in 2016? "He had a toothpick of a leg he had to rebuild." The trade buzz almost seems like a minor footnote to his story.

Teddy joins the club: Big preseason trades in every sport

Teddy Bridgewater was dealt to the Saints on Wednesday, a move that has a chance to join the list of key eve-of-season trades in sports history.

The Saints have never made this kind of investment in the backup quarterback position during the 13-year Brees-Sean Payton era, although they did come close to drafting Patrick Mahomes in 2017. The Saints are paying a significant price to land Bridgewater, considering they have less than $10 million in salary-cap space and already traded away their 2019 first-round draft choice to move up and pick defensive end Marcus Davenport this year.

The Saints' two backup QB candidates this summer were veteran Tom Savageand second-year dual threat Taysom Hill.

Savage was solid but unspectacular throughout the preseason. The performance of Hill, meanwhile, was more of a roller-coaster ride. He led the Saints in rushing in each of the first three preseason games, but he also committed four turnovers in the first half of the second exhibition game.

Hill will almost certainly remain on the Saints' 53-man roster because they're intrigued by his long-term potential and because he also serves as one of their top special-teams coverage specialists.

Information from ESPN's Mike Triplett was used in this report.

They took Darnold #3. Unless he totally shit the bed, of course he was gonna start. And they managed to squeeze a third round pick out of the deal.

Teddy was always gone be out of there. I just wish he’d a wound up in a place with a chance to step right in and start.

It's been 50 years.

Interestingly, Mr. Jet, Joe. Namath thinks Bridgewater should be the starter.
He should be the starter and let Darnold develop.
I actually think Jacksonville should have traded for Bridgewater

Why not do like the Browns and let Teddy start while the rookie watches and learns. In both cases, the team knows who will lead the team eventually. Why rush?

Teddy's injuries were unfortunate, but if dude can even get back to 80% of what he was..... Man he'd be a problem for most of the league of he had a decent line....

But its still fuck him after what he said about Cleveland....

Yeah I know the Browns have been trash, but mfkr you were coming out of college talking shit about grown ass men that could still beat your ass...

If he gets another chance to lead a team i hope he torches them and gets whooped by the Browns, haha

Didn't know he said that. He's someone that chooses his words carefully... or so I thought.

Glad Teddy out of there fuck the Jets.

It’s gonna be a lot of plea coppin mid season and the end when the jets realize they gave up Teddy for nothing

The Vikings gave up on teddy and gave cac cousins 80m guaranteed and Teddy is a better qb than cousins

Can't wait until this team that's loaded at every position can't make the playoffs cause cousins isn't as good as Teddy is

NFL is full of shit

Sam Bradford has lost his job on 9 different occasions and is starting yet again after yet another injury

These pundents making every excuse including SAS why the Vikings were right to move on from Teddy.. complete clown shit

Sam Darnold gonna be out for the season by week 3.
man i cant wait for all that crying in the car.

Saints got themselves one helluva backup.

Teddy should be happy. He goes to a winning franchise as opposed to being stuck with those tired Jets. Too bad the Giants didn't grab him.

just bad timing. Over pay to resign McCown, you get to draft your “franchise” QB. If Teddy plays good he’s going to command more money so trade and get a draft pick.

All the best to Teddy.

Some of y'all make everything into a black & white thing I swear

Bridgewater was getting traded regardless it had nothing to do with his skin color. The Jets traded up to get a QB in the Top 5[3] for a reason. I don't believe he should start until after the 4th-8th game but that's just my opinion alot of so called experts believe he deserves to be the starting day QB. And alot of Jets fans feel the same. I feel if they waited they coulda got a 2nd Rd pick for Teddy

Jets wanted to avoid the controversy of the fans calling for Bridgwater to step in if the rookie struggles

I'm not sure what more Bridgewater could have done during preseason. Had a 104 passer rating!
They didn't want any REAL competition for the White boy wonder in NY. As soon as that White boy wonder flops they don't have a long-term consideration fall-back, just a one-year stop-gap, so they may as well leave White boy wonder in.

If they keep Bridgewater, the crowd would be crying for him by game 6 and the team would be forced to make a decision. This way, there's no decision...so they may as well leave White boy wonder in.
