Shit is just excessive now. I still haven't seen the current seasons of Walking Dead, Luke Cage, Ballers, American Horror Story, and Homeland. I'm still on season 2 of Tyrant but haven't watched past episode one since November or probably August of last year. Haven't watched the last 2 seasons of Billions yet.

Whats really fucking me up is these DC shows(Arrow,Flash,Legends,Super Girl)
too many fucking shows and you have to watch all of them because of the random crossover episodes. I just like watching 1 show all the way through not this multiple shit. Narcos, Black lightning, Queen of the South, Atlanta,
still haven't got any burn yet and those are the shows I can remember.

Bout to just throw in the towel for real and just focus on making this money and traveling.

I agree. I have DVR and still don’t have the time like I used to. And with the new basketball season comes around I don’t know when I’ll be watching them

Been feeling like that.... show quality has gone up on so many services as well as so many more networks with good programming... FX, AMC, USA, etc

The DVR that I had originally had 4 tuners... with 5oogigs memory....was 7 years old.... added a 2 TB external hard drive.... HD programming eats that shit up.... brought a new one last week with 6 tuners...with 3TB memory... added a Western Digital external hard drive with 8TB to it....:hmm:

They might have to start cutting these seasons to 13 episodes max. But it's like everytime you turn around it's like 5 new shows ready to drop. I don't understand why they are doing this except for trying to distract us from something. It's bad enough I can hardly stay off my phone because of social media but with all these shows it's got me about to burn out.
It's days I wouldn't even turn on my tv. I'd rather watch youtube videos on real estate or travling vlogs to see what other spots are like that I might want to hit up.

My issue is that I want to game with most of my free time so I keep falling behind on tv and movies. So much I want to watch. Maybe I will catch up one day.

tell me about it. too many shows and i don't even bother trying to keep up. same way with movies. everybody be like you seen or watching so and so. nope.

It's absolutely ridiculous! I don't even try to keep up with all that shit. I have a few shows I watch and that's it. My DVR used to be full of shows. There is just not enough time in the world to watch all that shit. Cut the cord about 8 months ago and I couldn't be happier.

Naw you just watch too much or are too busy to keep up

yeh, i would say probably just watch too much or maybe dont have much to do. or maybe too busy to keep up.. gotta drop some and forget about em. or dont pick up any new ones. I just binge watch when i have the time.. usually when taking a day or two off work/holiday

Yep..Like I tell people I still aint seen Mad Men or Breaking Bad and they be like..You WAYYY behind...lol...watching Bosch now..it's pretty good...

I think with Kodi and all these other ways to watch older shows...we can pick and choose what we watch and when watch it...WHENEVER we get around to watching it...lol

Tv? Keep up with a show? I wish the fuck i would. .. I'm in Grand Cayman right now looking at real estate... nan one of them tv niccas gone help me at all..
I'm gonna hit you later bout that. Bout to cop a seasoned corp get it funded then check out some apartments in Pitt first.

naw. only really watch the good stuff BGOL recommends. only show in season is "The 100", been peeping the Handmaids Tale. thats about it.

Mostly trying to understand and get a handle on Forex. wish i had heard bout it before the bitcoin craze last year.

Yeah I'm seeing Forex everywhere. I follow a lot of wealth building blogs so I can get multiple streams of income popping.

Yeah because of the scheduling more than anything.

A good thread topic?

if you could ONLY WATCH 10 SHOWS in a calendar year.

JUST 10.

not talking bgol networks, streaming, dvds, etc.

What would they be?

I remember when nothing but reruns were shown during the summer.... I thanked god when they started doing split seasons and run new series year round !!!

Yo I was just saying this the other day.theres no way I can catch all them joints.even with binge watching.binge watched the shit out of my hero academia
Today.still a ton of eps before I'm caught up.my advice just go for the shit you really wanna see.

yep
there are too many average too good tv shows and its hard to keep up if you arent completely invested
sometimes when DVR gets full watching TV can feel like a chore...espeically hour long dramatic series

there are shows that i dropped that 10-5 years would've been appointment television

its crazy how spoiled we all are and how many options we have
and its only gonna get crazier going forward

DC got their channel coming up
Disney has theirs
Netflix putting out a ridiculous amount of content
HBO is still the King & FX is the Prince promised
Showtime making moves
Hulu, Youtube (still gotta get to Karate Kid), Cinemax (went 3 for 3 with Banshee, StrikeBack & the Knick)
and Amazon Prime trying to get their own Game of Thrones with a Lord of the Rings show

shit is overwhelming and a great problem to have

yeh its become cheaper to get in, but the risks are still there and the big guys still control the market. but i'm doing readings, watching vids and seeing what strategies can work for more wins than losses.
multiple streams and not depending on a 9-5 is the of the future no doubt.. i'll drop what i'm currently reading, watching in the forex tread.

forgot to add, I watch Power too.

Yes. Primarily because I follow sports like soccer which is being played damn near all the time somewhere. Add basketball and college football. Baseball. Some tennis. Hard to get to the shows I want to watch and I watch almost zero commercial TV and no shows that depict Blacks in an unfavorable light.

Yeah it's too many .

However, I like how you can always start something new until your shows reboot - and it be something halfway decent too.

Atlanta
Westworld
Insecure
The Chi
Black Mirror
American Horror Story
Orange is the New Black
Luke Cage
She’s Gotta Have It
Black Lightning

hmmm...

you know I can't hate on this.

sidebar...

I got into it with this young girl at the bbq...

I was like what is the great BLACK shows on tv?

and she went off...

and I said sorry, I got bgol shorthand.

1st off I mispoke

first I don't count cable and streaming as TV anymore...you gotta specify.

and "black" show to me?

sometimes LIMITS the GREATNESS.

Atlanta is BLACK but not cause of the color of they skin

but I'm talking BLACK aesthetic and tone and pace.

its a vibe its a spirit.

like Friends is a WHITE show.

Well said.

In America, we've always been marginalized and segregated in both physical form and otherwise. I remember in video stores there was a Black/African-American section. People used to complain about that - as opposed to quality product by or about Black folks just being placed among the mainstream films. I understood that want for mainstream acceptance. At the same time, I considered our stories to be a goldmine and putting stuff in the "Black" section it made it easier for me to find that gold.

Ever since I was in middle school and began to read Black authors like Gordon Parks, Maya Angelou, Richard Wright and others, I was keenly aware of how DEEP the well is of creative expression of the Black experience. I felt it even more deeply when my father took me to see blaxploitation films at the theater where they'd show older movies very week.

Black folks' creative/cultural well spans literature, music, movies, tv, dance, art and continents.

Ours is an ironclad legacy and a culture forged in blood, sweat and tears - an ongoing saga of rising, overcoming and sometimes just surviving "in spite of".

It feels good to be in an age where we can simply turn on the tv and have a choice of a variety of fully fleshed-out images and stories of, by and starring my people.

There's a lot of fucked up stuff going on around us, but right now tv is in the best place it's ever been, as Black folks go.
