I've been present with Bloods beating the dog shit outta the KKK, literally ran their ass outta town, then went right back to bangin' as usual when they left. They treated the KKK like a rival gang, just like Florida street dudes could treat Zimmerman like any other killer on their block operating without a pass. It's not necessary to appeal to their "sense" when they'll kill over "principle."
