LeBron James has been in the NBA for 15 years. He's the wealthiest active NBA player and a global icon. But according to internet estimates, LeBron's net worth falls somewhere in the $400 million range.

With that, LaVar Ball was confident that his sons will reach billion-dollar valuations before LeBron.

LaVar was in attendance at the Pro Basketball Combine at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., this week to watch LiAngelo work out for scouts (here are some highlights). Hoop Journey filmed a conversation between LaVar and the combine staff where LaVar broke down how his sons would earn their first billion dollars.

The exchange started as follows:

LaVar: Do you know much LeBron is worth?
Staffer: Probably close to a billion dollars.
LaVar: No, 400 million. 15 years in the league.

LaVar went on after mocking LeBron's lifetime deal with Nike:

"Check this out. This is nothing. Melo's shoes are $400. Lonzo's shoes are $500. If they sell a million shoes within a year or two, I'm giving them all the money. So that's $4-500 million they're gonna make right there … Lonzo, Gelo and Melo are going to be the first ball players to be billionaires playing ball."

(And no, Jose Calderon isn't already the NBA's first billionaire.)

LaVar reiterated that they would sell a million shoes based on Big Baller Brand's popularity in China and that he would give his sons all the money. He spoke as if 100 percent of the shoes' retail price goes to Big Baller Brand and not overhead costs, manufacturing and taxes. Back in February, LaVar tweeted an article that suggested his Big Baller Brand water would be the path to his billionaire status.

He still has a ways to go.

The same page that LaVar used to get LeBron's $400 million net worth has LaVar’snet worth at $4 million.

Damn LaVar, try White Strips, Peroxide, or get new caps; or maybe just brush those boys more than once a month. :smh:

They didn’t say he was a failure they said he wasn’t smart by saying what he said about his kids will be billionaires before LeBron.

This line wasn't necessary to the story and was put there to discredit Lavar by showing him as a loser compared to LeBron. I'm sure you can read between the lines and see that.

I see two successful Black men, no need to pit one net worth against the other.

LaVar is the one claiming his sons will billionaires before LeBron. Whoever did the article was just making a point about how LaVar is so far behind himself to be saying something like that. He really needs to speak for himself and not for his sons.

It seems like he pitted himself against another black man. :dunno:
