Documents show Ajit Pai met with AT&T execs right after the company started paying Michael Cohen. Now Congress needs to overturn the FCC’s net neutrality repeal and investigate.

TL;DR: Ajit Pai has denied hearing from Michael Cohen, but FOIAed documents show he met with AT&T execs a month after Cohen began receiving payments from the company.Call your lawmakers before they vote on the net neutrality CRA tomorrow and demand they overturn the FCC’s corrupt net neutrality repeal.

This past week, AT&T apologized for for its “serious misjudgment” in hiring U.S. President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen to provide “insights” into how the new administration would handle issues like net neutrality and AT&T’s proposed merger with Time Warner Cable.

Although Pai denied hearing from Cohen, new scheduling documents obtained through FOIA by corruption watchdog American Oversight show the Chairman met with with top AT&T executives at a private dinner in Barcelona a month after the company began paying Cohen. One of the top AT&T representatives present at this meeting was noted net neutrality enemy Bob Quinn, who hired Cohen and has since stepped down over the controversy.

These revelations come on the tail of one of the most problem-ridden and undemocratic consultations in the FCC’s history. Throughout the comment period, the agency refused to address problems with fake comments, alleged DDoS attacks that prevented Internet users from commenting, and failed to release of thousands of important consumer complaints over net neutrality violations until the last minute.

At this point, members of Congress must vote to support the CRA and reverse the agency’s disastrous net neutrality repeal when the resolution hits the Senate floor in just over 24 hours. Then they need to hold a public hearing to investigate what went on between AT&T, Cohen, and the FCC, and give the public the answers they deserve.

The corporatocracy is real. While conspiracy theorists are busy jacking off to the absurd idea of child sex rings operated out of pizza chains these motherfuckers are quietly drinking our milkshakes.

And the irony is it's not even some grand conspiracy. It's the logical outcome of unfettered capitalism. When these folks argue for deregulation.... THIS is the outcome. It's as true now as it was during the Gilded Age of robber barons. The difference is that propaganda has reached untold heights.... folks making a pittance argue on BEHALF of their new feudal overlords. Shit is kind of amazing. I low key admire the hustle even though I see it for what it is.

One day folks will wake up out of this deep slumber and demand change. Campaign Finance Reform. Strong limits to the revolving door between public office and K Street. Tax transparency for public officials. Transparency in corporate media ownership etc etc.

Shit isn't rocket science.... but the folks being fleeced are buying jackets made from their own hides right now. We live in weird times. Also fuck Ajit Pai! Lol

Well-written.

Pai is an Indian piece of shit. Obama should have replaced his Republican ass when he had the chance.

Obama was right with them! They all fleeced everyone! There needs to be a cleansing on the hill and in American Politics!:angry::angry:
Not quite. In 2014 Obama called on the FCC to take up the strongest possible rules to protect net neutrality, the principle that says Internet service providers (ISPs) should treat all Internet traffic equally. Obama's failing was not recognizing that Pai, a Republican, would renege on his promise to protect all users and treat all equally. He had an opportunity to replace Pai but didn't.

I have a "friend" that lives in this dude's nutsack (NO HOMO). I'd love to hit him with this info about his good buddy Pai, but I can already hear him brushing it off as not a big deal or something. Which will just piss me off, so I'm not even wasting my time.

At this point, if you aren't shooting somebody in the face, you're probably not going to get into trouble. Heck, even then...

You worry too much bruh. The DNC will save you. Just vote for whom ever they shove before you and everything will be swell.

I keep hearing this argument. Why do you assume Trump wouldn't have brought Pai in or found someone who shares Pai`s views? Republicans hated Net Neutrality and where going to kill it no matter what. Once Trump was in office, he had the power to flip the FCC to make it more Republican friendly.

Correction. Obummer is a racist race baiting radical mooslim, who did nothing during his 8 years in office...lol.

Did i miss any of the Fox News talking points?
Divider in Chief most racist president in my lifetime, if I had a son he’d look like Thugvon, blah blah blah

You're missing one very important fact. Your whole argument rests on Trump winning, a possibility not very likely at time of Pai's reappointment by Obama
If Obama doesn't reappoint Pai the assault on Net Neutrality is delayed until Republicans gain a majority of seats on the Commission. Now, since assumptions are being made on both sides let's assume Clinton wins, what happens? The assault on Net Neutrality is again delayed for the reason previously stated. The difference between your position and mine is I think you feel Net Neutrality's demise was foregone conclusion and Obama reappointing Pai was of no consequence. The way I see it is if Obama does get rid of the prick and Clinton wins Net Neuturality is safe for at least four years until 2020 and maybe longer.

We agree Republicans have always wanted to kill New Neutrality; we just disagree on how soon they would have been able to do so had two things not occurred, (1) Pai's reappointment and (2) Trump winning the Presidency. :hmm:

Voting doesn't matter remember.

Hell who's to say he would've even been able to replace Pai. The pubs gave him hell for trying to get a Supreme Court justice in before his term ended.... He thought Hilary had it in the bag so he cooled off on that and the FCC.

With hindsight being 20/20 its easy to say Obama should've did this or that... And while I share that sentiment on some things... I really don't think I can fault him too much on this one... The democrats lost that election, flat out... They proped up Trump thinking he was an easy mark and he got the upper hand.

With that being said, Pai is a piece of shit and i won't miss him when he gets fired, lying piece of shit

Shouldn't have used the word replace. The FCC is directed by five commissioners appointed by the President and confirmed by the United States Senate for five-year terms. Obama knew Pai was a conservative Republican and should never have appointed him in the first place as he did 2012. But he fell for the okey doke and accepted Pai's pledge that he would treat not favor ISPs over users and we see how that turned out. :hmm:
