Maybe Kanye is so brilliant we are looking past his genius. On the surface he is showing us how easy it is to manipulate Trump by simply paying a complement and wearing a red hat. Trump Fox News and others will all co-sign this and when the album drops. He gives his "New" Fanbase knowledge on the corruption of those in power. This could all be a ploy in order to start that dialogue. How else do you draw in that other side to have a dialogue and to get them to engage. We are all too polarized to listen to one another.

First off it was a theory. I not a big Kanye but just because you are not a part of the conversation does not mean you can't join in later. That’s true, of course. Kanye absolutely has the right to associate with whomever he wants. But Legend’s point — which he went in depth on in a series of tweets last night — is less about whom Kanye is allowed to admire and more the fact that his support for this president has stung much of Kanye’s fan base for much more personal reasons than he might care to realize.
Legend’s point is that Kanye might be able to afford indulging in abstract “free thought,” but many people affected by Trump’s actual policies — many people who may overlap with Kanye’s fan base — can’t.
