TV Discussion: New series by Donald Glover - Atlanta UPDATE: FINAL 4th Season Sept 2022!

It was ok. Not 1 of the better episodes... I'm hoping they don't fall to the sophmore slump. It was a lot of shit you would have to know the ATL to get.
@stretchwallz I don't know if you being funny or not, but they stole that work. That's why ol boy had that K busting

I disagree
That was universal
Especially the little things
nobody on earth likes being on speakerphone

Shit real talk, alot of the shit Happening with Earn has/is happening to me. With the exception of having a rapping cousin and living in a storage unit.

But I do have a cousin I'm close with who doing better at life than me

And earn can't really project being homeless because then he feels he'll lose the opportunity to manage his cousin.

He fucked off school
Burnt bridges with his parents and bm

It's just him and his cousin is his ticket out

Peep Darius at the end tho when earn was bouncing out asking if he was good

To paper and other cat it was like are you ok cause you just dealt with Willie

But he was asking him if he was ok cause a few hours ago he revealed that he was homeless

The little things

Thanks man ..I didn’t catch that.
show really had layers...

at the beginning when dude was telling him that the drive thru was selling coke...
dude started listing what he wanted to do, said he might even get a little neck... subtly sets up having a girl in the back of the car
They pulled up to the drive through, they order a meal asked for the #17 - cashier double checked and asked for +$50
Actors reacted non verbally to the confirmation of the tip

great writing - incredible directing -topped off with strong acting

Atlanta is extremely cerebral ....just doesn’t give off that appearance

Yup, soon as the guy said your total is $58- they knew what time it was.
Crazy how they went from just chilling on the couch to executing an armed robbery.
Dude has a job and couldn't pass up the lick.

agree....the first ep set a tone or mood but I hope they don't forget they're building toward real careers in music. I see this easily getting bogged down in non-sequitur seinfeld-ish episodes that don't lead to anywhere.

more fail than succeed in music... the show will be great as long as it keeps telling good stories while spotlighting pitfalls and contradictions in our culture and the business the characters are trying to break into
true very true...but if we go thru a whole season and all we see is paperboy sitting on a couch and earn dealing with bizarre issues that have absolutely nothing to do with music whatsoever..i'ma feel a little like :hmm:... but then again the show is called ATLANTA...not THE STRUGGLE TO MAKE A RAP CAREER..so :dunno::dunno:

it’s only the 1st episode...sooo... :dunno:

last season a lot of the eps revolved around dude’s aspiring career

if he is under house arrest / restricted bail... it would be accurate - especially if they show them still promoting

Ern at the PO office was fucked up but eye opening for many - most had no idea how fucked up Georgia's criminal system is and depending on the county the child support system is much worse.

IMO Paperboy in an ankle bracelet and Ern on Parole / probation predicts a season of stories different from what you are hoping for
