At major Northwest Side bakery, labor issues pit blacks vs. Hispanics
In a nutshell the company had a policy of hiring illegals through temp agencies and not hiring qualified blacks from the surrounding communities. They did this because they could low ball the illegals and they wouldn't complain about lower wages and illegal working conditions. The blacks they did hire on where paid higher wages and the illegals took issue with it so they froze the blacks out. They did it by not communicating with them on job assignments and giving blacks the shittiest jobs causing a high turn over rate among black employees. This went all the way up to the Hispanic supervisors.
Some of the black employees got together and called ICE on the company and they did a sweep and now the company is 90% black and 10% Hispanic. The owner in turn sold the company claiming he couldn't make his obligations to his customers and now the Hispanic workers are trying to confront the black workers.
If you still think DACA and those safe haven cities that almost always seem to be in high black population areas are a good thing then you ain't paying attention. This is about resources and resources are a finite thing in this country. We can not afford to have to compete with a group of people who are willing to undercut labor laws and wage laws. A $14 an hour job to most of you may not mean a thing but to a lot of us it could mean the difference between life or death. Especially now since safety net programs are being cut everyday.
