Just watched BLACK PANTHER and.......

Lol it' just as marvel movie?

How many black director have made billion dollar movies?

How many all black casts have done so?

You think those achievements wouldn't come with any type of power?
Look up Kenan Ivory Wayans and scary movie and In Living Color. An extremely profitable.. successful franchise.. . that got pulled from him because he wanted more money, etc. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to see all these black people working in this industry. I just don't have the faith this is some new day for black folk and Hollywood.

cause it's not. History and common sense tells us that.

Also chronically Black Panther should follow Civil War in MCU viewing....

Civil War
Black Panther
Spider Man: Homecoming
Dr. Strange
Thor: Ragnarok
Infinity War

GOTG 1 & 2 should be viewed back to back...
According to the director Vol. 2 takes place a few months after Vol.1 and there will be 4 year gap to Infinity War...

Me and the wife saw it yesterday. Overall good movie. Some things bugged me but still good. There were kids there. Pretty quiet to be honest. No one talking to the screen. Folks clapped after some scenes and laughed at others. A lot of folks got up and didn't wait for the 2 after credits scenes. Last AC scene looks to be a huge setup.

Was i the only one not overly impressed with the score of the film? I thought it could have been much better. Also felt that the music during chase and fight scenes could have been better selected. To be clear, i didnt dislike it. Just didnt think it was up to snuff all things considered.

His entire family eats... they are on their 3rd generation based on unloving color.

How many production compaies spawned from the Waynas's lineage?

Scary move led to Marlon and Shawn Exec Producing their own projects under ther own brands... But that'
Not power, right?

Also, you have to add 5 movies and you dont equal a billion worldwide gross.

Good movie

Okoye Killed it.

Wish Michael B Jordan had more scenes as king.

He told them about themselves in a way nobody had. They had never even considered things from his perspective killmonger was all black people are African and therefore your people not just the ones born here who have a mark.

Loved when he took the herb and his dad asked his young self if there were any tears for him and he said everybody dies around here as his adult self had to shed a tear. The moments he was robbed of by his father. The moments he wish he had done by people who left him in the "wild" tchaka could've taken him. Taken him raised him and he'd be one of the best warrior allies they could ever hope for. But instead he's an outsider. That kind of pain. That kind of belonging. That kind of traumatic experience dealing with family all your life drive him mad in every way.

And if you being real you can easily understand his side of it. if we saw the movie from his perspective he'd be the hero and Tchalla would be the villain sitting in his ivory tower while he was cast out after his father was murdered. He did what he had to do to make it home and then took the throne.

That's why it was powerful cause he was right just as right as Tchalla

Yeah I liked his lines. Dude is a beast as a villain. He was spitting straight up hot fiya. Really up his game. He was saying shit like someone would say for real, fuck all that super powers shit.Let's be real. He wanted that #1 spot and put everybody on notice in straight up language!! I laugh my ass off at that line. Some real fam shit!! Heeeeyy Auntie!!!

That line and when he killed Zuri and was like "Bye uncle Zuri" ......dude was a beast.

definitely agree. Aside from Killmonger's vicious tactics and tryin to take the throne, T'Challa basically agreed with him, which is why he was so conflicted fighting him the first time. I thought it was very telling when T'Challa confronted his father the 2nd time in the ancestral plane, his gripe wasn't that he killed his brother, it was that he left the boy. He knew how harmful that was to Killmonger. And we got to see that in how T'Challa treated him after he beat him at the end....like c'mon cuzzo, let me show you the beauty of Wakanda cuz this shit is yours too. Then went back to his hood to honor his vision, but in a (perceived) better way. I thought the whole plight of the interaction between those two was incredible.

And that’s what makes his character special. You could easily call him a hero. Black Americans can relate because our ancestors were stolen from the motherland and no one came to help us or save us. He was left with no one to help him. T’Chaka has a chance to make it right but decided to turn his back on him. A lot of Africans look down upon us because they feel we are not worthy because our ancestors were dumb enough to get caught. I had a Nigerian literally tell me that. Smh! So we can see things from Killmonger’s perspective very clearly. That pain, anger and resentment is a powerful agent.

The more I reflect on the film, one thing that is striking me is how much more this movie is about the Wakanda that makes T'Challa who he is than it is about Black Panther. In this movie, Wakanda is dealing with internal conflict and most of the movie T'Challa is not on the throne. However, in Infinity War we will get to see Wakanda at it's finest and in full on unified war mode. I can't wait!

Best scene in it he entire movie was Killmonger walking to the throne for the first time. They filmed the shit upside down!!! That was a perfect visual depiction of what was happening to Wakanda right at that moment. Kudos to Coogler for that.

Only let downs I had was that there wasn't more Creed-like cinematography. There were some hints of it like the scene I mentioned above, when they entered Man-Apes throne room and Klaw entering the Korean casino the first time. Coogler does this type of thing really well. Its his trademark.

And speaking of Klaw was any one else PISSED that he died?!? I mean, I know exaxtly why he had to die and it made perfect movie sense, but Andy Serkis was fucking killing it. The laugh, the fuckin swag, the absolute craziness and cold blooded smarts he had was incredible. Reminded me a lot of the best parts of the Joker in the comics. Great actor and I was pissed he died. Could have been a perfect ongoing villan for BP. Would not be shocked with the movies success if they don't find a way to bring back Killmonger and Klaw in some way since vibranium literally makes almost anything possible.

Overall either my favorite or second favorite Marvel movie. Gotta rewatch Winter Soldier and see if it holds up.

I rate this one 5 Quaid belly faces out of 5!

The other thing that I thought was great in this movie was the relationship between t'challa and his sister Suri. Anyone in here who has a younger brother or sister or is the younger brother or sister can understand the dynamic between the two of them.

When she was filming him testing out the suit and it threw him across the room and the first thing he said was delete that footage it was cause he knew what her triflin ass would do with it.

I mean its not impossible to bring them back if some shenanigans goes down with the infinity stones

Ha! You are exactly right. I feel like after we see infinity WAR, we gonna be like Kevin Garnett yelling.... ANYTHING IS POSSIBLEEEEEEEE!

Oh and before I forget, my guy Bucky B. is gonna end up with a chick from Wakanda. Mark my words. Can't wait for him to be Cap!

Yeah I feel as if African artists should have filled the soundtrack

I felt it should have been more African inspired :dunno:

and Kendricks soundtrack could have been a inspired by project, or just incorporated the songs for when they were in America

Though I notice since Coogler is from the Bay he used Oakland and incorporated Too Short

Oh I had my killmonger mask on going into the movie and scared the shit out of people. Security was actually a lil too shook to even approach to tell me to take it off lol. Then same thing when I was leaving cat started to approach me then was like naaaaah and let me be

Nerd

Didn't know all of the projects he's done as CGI. He's a good villain.

True shit right here. Sadly I've had more than a few Nigerians call black Americans "slaves".
