I am going to New York City next month to hang out for a couple of days. I plan to stay in the Times Square area. I just need to know if that's an ok area to stay and approximately how much is an uber/taxi ride from Laguardia airport to Time Square. Is it better to fly to Newark?

I',m also looking at Marriot East Side which is cheaper and looks even nicer than the Time Square hotels. Is "East Side" midtown east convenient to the attractions?

Thanks

Probably about $35. I know from bk to JFK cost me about that much. Manhattan is a good area to stay. You'll be about 30 minutes from all the other boroughs. That's where all the best attractions are. LaGuardia may be a shorter ride than coming from Newark. But I could be wrong about that, never drove from Newark.

Thank you very much. So is Manhattan different from Times Square? I need to look for hotels in Manhattan and not Time Square?

From either LGA or Newark, you're going to find buses/shuttles that will take you, for cheaper than cab fare, to Times Square. Just depends on if you want to travel with a bus load of people or if you're looking for something more personal. But, the buses and/or shuttles will run you about $10-15 cheaper than cab fare.

Also, Times Square is considered "The Center of the Universe" because most, if not all, the subway trains pass through there. Staying on the East side, you'll either have to walk or take a cross town bus to get to attractions on the West Side of Manhattan, etc. Manhattan isn't a big island, but I'd still suggest staying in Times Square if you've never been before. Also, it's probably safer because cops stay in and around Times Square because of the high number of tourists and traffic. You'd be within walking distance of Empire State Building on 34th Street, and can take buses/trains to pretty much everything from Times Square.

Uber will cost you about $70
That’s from the BX so maybe looking at more actually.

Going to NY eliminate the word cheaper.

Take an Uber to Harlem walk around 125. Go to the Black owned restaurants.

If you are in Times Square there is a ton to do but bring your wallet and make sure you get points. You gonna go back home loving the experience but not the price.

LaGuardia is definitely a shorter ride than coming from Newark.

Manhattan is the island which is the center of New York City. It's New York, New York. Times Square is Between 42nd Street and about 47th Street on Broadway in Manhattan. The Marriott you mentioned is good choice. Enjoy yourself and be safe out here.

Juss seen Marriott east side is on 49 st and lex ur literally walking distant from time square or cheap uber ride

Chinatwon, ground zero, theaters, etc.

I usually stay in Jersey and take the PATH train into Manhattan. I find that Jersey the hotels are at least 50% cheaper

If your doing tourist stuff staying in Jersey would be cheaper, but would be a pain in the ass. An Uber ride will be 30-40 bucks easy. The toll to get into Manhattan from Jersey is 16 bucks. So that Uber ride be hurting the wallet. And if he just wants to take a nap then go back out, it will be a pain in the ass

Also google is your friend.. You can Google any train and bus route.. Also eateries, shopping spots, theatres etc

Man just take the PATH train. It's always running it's a very quick ride and It takes you right into Manhattan a few blocks from Times Square

Dogs when I go home I’m disgusted when I get back to Florida with the amount of money Ive spent.

Never thought about staying in NJ that may work the only thing is when I’m uptop I get way to twisted to do lot of traveling at 3am, 4am lol. As a foreigner I would say stay close to where you will be chilling. Yea I’m sure can find a nice AirBNB.

Edit: yea forgot my G @jagu got some paper, you gonna love it my brother. Definitely go to Harlem though, lot of nice new spots.

And take family to see The Lion King. $200 a ticket but it’s dope my son was like oh yea like the movie! But this is like real life

Same here. I hate going back to NY. Slimmed it down to once a year.

You also can catch the 4 or 5 train at this station (brooklyn bridge) and 1 stop away is Fulton street which is ground zero

This is my first time going back to NYC since the plane dropped me off at JFK when I first arrived in the country 26 years ago.

Actually, the vacation package is not that bad. Airfare and hotel for two is just $1000 for 3 nights. I have some point that will knock it down to $600

So you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone using the MTA to see Brooklyn bridge and ground zero.. Total roundtrip by using the train $9

Ook that’s a great deal. THREE days. Man you need least a week to get the smell of NY on your clothes!
