Official BGOL Crypto Currency Thread ★★★★★

Exactly, these dudes hoping for the best and putting faith
in Humanity. I wouldn't trust NADA with my shit...Fuck that

true you really do have to be careful, I read a story of one dude opening up one

he purchased from a third party and found an additional chip inside that bitch piggy

backin off the chip that came with it.

In addition to buying directly from Ledger, I'd also recommend that you buy two if possible. That way if something happens, you won't have to wait three months for a replacement.

BS, the same vendors that sell on Ebay sell on Amazon.
I know cause I was one of them. If you are going by "Sealed" "Blank Sheet"
You are bugging. That is the EASY part for them.
Bottom line there are very very few Official re-sellers of this and too much is on the line
DO NOT GET IT FROM ANYBODY ELSE

I hear ya... I won't. Take that chance

I placed my order for my hardware ledger wallet, but since it won't be shipped until March, what's the safest move from the exchanges to save my coins in the meantime? Paper wallet?

Man @Mrfreddygoodbud . You and I went at it in history threads. Talked shit. But always left it in those threads and carried on as men. No sensitive bullshit.

Here we are in the crypto thread and you contributing. I am. All the other cats putting in work. Just building. If more cats got down like that and left disagreements and moved on, this place would be insane.:eek:

:cheers:to all the cats in here helping to build.

I'm not sure what the absolute safest way would be, but some options are:

1. As you said, a paper wallet.

2. You could get a Trezor hardware wallet. They appear to still be in stock on the manufacturer's website.

3. If you have a "clean" PC, one that has a fresh windows install and won't be used for anything other than crypto, you could use a desktop wallet on that and keep it offline unless you're moving your coins.

If you have a good amount of money in this game, get a dedicated computer for it. Period. If you can afford it, get an apple. Don't take risks. The more you gain, peel off to minimize risks.

Don't share the computer you have your exchange info on. Shit is like gold. Seriously. Peel off profits and get a computer just for this game. Can't say that enough.

I'm planning on investing more and didn't want to miss a foreseeable risk. I'll have to make some adjustments until my ledger gets here. Thanks for the advice.

would an android phone with no data plan be able to serve a similar function? I have Note 4 just chilling in my office drawer not doing anything after I upgraded to a new phone

If you go that route, you probably should do a full factory reset and then make sure you completely update the OS...If you can't, cause it is no longer being supported, I will consider using something else. If you can use it, I would buy an android anti-malware/antivirus software (I use lookout for my phone). Even if you are using a personal wallet of some sort, you will still need to go online from time to time to conduct transactions.

NEVER underestimate hackers and never overestimate someone who doesn't know shit about Crypto buying a ledger
Just a lil wisdom
I do this (infosec) for a living from my research prior to purchasing there isn’t any attack vectors on their tech as yet. human error will always defeat good tech i.e installing a non ledger approved app or going to a fake exhange. That being said it’s nothing wrong with being extra cautious with all the money on the line.

For the newbies, I would venture to say you missed wave 1. Many coins made their initial push over the last 30 days. So the key now is to identify which ones are real as they settle from the push. The real coins with a good community behind them and actual products will base and be ready for another push higher. The fakes coins subject to pump and dump wont.

Then, you also have to determine if you want to ride the coins that made the biggest moves Etherium, Litecoin or Ripple. Or can you find another coin under $1 that can make a move.

So, I ask the fellas.

What's the best coin above $1? I say it's gonna be hard to beat Ripple because of current price and potential.

What;s the best coin under $1 - This one is harder. I'm waffling between

  • Siacoin (SC)
  • Verge (XVG)
  • Kin (Kin)
  • PACcoin (PAC)
  • Cardona (ADA)
  • Tron (TRX) - added to the list

I have money in all of those listed except Cardona. I’ve waivered back and forth on it. If it goes below $0.80 again I’ll grab some.

I’m hedging bets on KIN and TRX taking off. If either touches a dollar I’m done working.

My girls wants to buy xrp just incase it hits coinbase, yes we know the price is high but I think it’s still worth a gamble. Have any of you used poloniex to buy? It asks for SS and street address during sign up and tat seems a little much. Any advice ?

the game has changed... you need to proved that info now

You can also buy xrp from bitstamp and Kraken.

What are alternatives to buying Bitcoins using a debit card. I haven't been able to buy on Coinbase for a couple of weeks. It tells me "Account Restricted". I have a trouble ticket in but it is taking forever.

Does she have a coinbase account?

Have you bought on there before?

I agree, but we have to go base on current day. i.e. 2 weeks ago systems that were deemed secure are insecure due to the “discovery” of meltdown. There are risks in every choice.
