you cannot have your pets near any body of water in Florida

You have to respect your surroundings especially in Florida you can’t get mad at the gator for doing what it Supposed to do

Nope, he’d have to respect me as the apex predator of this biosphere too. Eat my dog mf I’ll lay traps to kill and eat every gator I could find. Yknow, all things being equal. Freezer would be filled with gator meat. Gator shoes, belts, hats etc. Man fuck a alligator :hmm:

Looks like a crocodile. Though gators are more common, we do have crocodiles, mostly in southern Florida.

Keep pets, kids and yourself away from any body of water that isn't a pool here.
There was a crocodile on Hollywood beach a couple weeks ago

Isn't that near Lauderdale? Haven't been to Hollywood Beach but I've been to Dania Beach which is near I think.

Sharks in the water, crocs in the water and land...lolz smh

That's wild that y'all have to live with that caution.

Just another example of how environment really affects a person's mindstate.

Just something we are used to.

I have a lake behind our current home. I haven't seen gators yet in the two years we've been here, but I always assume they are there.

I used to see them when i would go fishing in the lake near our old home but they always swam away if you got close.

Not to be funny but this is why are you rarely see black people getting eating by gators or crocodiles. I was raised in South Florida I could tell you we learn at early age in the black community to stay away from inland bodies of water.

O well... fido aint no more!! I told him to stop bejng so curious.. he would not listen! Now u see the end result!! :D:D

I'm just getting a little philosophical, so don't mind me, but your comment got me thinking.

By you saying "just something we are use too" was exactly what I meant by how environment affects our mind state.

Gators is something I don't worry about at all becuase we don't have them in our area and I live about 300 yards away from a lake.

Even if you was to come to my crib and we went to the lake to go fishing, you may still have some reservations of there being gators in my lake even though we don't have them at all.

I can apply that same concept to race, sex, religion, and so forth.

So when we (not just you and I, but anyone) have discussions about people, how much do we really consider the person's environment when it comes to decision making or thinking? And the mythology or truth they would have to tear down to feel comfortable to do something outside their normal thinking?

Like, would you still feel comfortable being around my lake even if I told you there were no gators?

I know it's weird that a gator comment can take me down a rabbit hole like that, but that's how my mind be working when I read stuff.

Funny cause when I read this post in was like....'how you feel about not living with gators is like how white people live with no threat of police officers and the thought of ALERT is a foreign concept to them'.

Environment effects you...

*two cents*

Yea living here Im just getting into that mind state. I think this is an old video or there is another one like this. Have a friend who lives with a lake in the back and Ive seen some small gators in there. Its wild cause I don't mess with nature at ALL. I don't get close to the water here. I live by the river, same thing. I think its less likely up here in North Florida though.

When did this happen?

I actually wouldn't. I grew up in Buffalo, on Lake Erie. Have gone fishing plenty of times in my life, have only been in FL for 7 years and got hip to the "assume there is a gator there" mindset whenever I see a body of water anywhere here just after moving.

Like, would you still feel comfortable being around my lake even if I told you there were no gators?

Absolutely. It's the same mindset I would have if I went to a fresh water beach up north vs jumping into the Atlantic. I dont think about sharks if/when I swim in a lake up north, but if i jump in the Gulf or Atlantic, i stay close to the shore. Fuck that.

Read this earlier. Apparently the dog was playing dead and ran off as soon as the croc loosened his bite.

Glad it ended well.

That's a good observation. That is a Croc.
Just moseying along with the dog in it's mouth all slow like a damn float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.
