For years we sought validation for loving this dorky ass sci-fi series. Then, the one time the movie seems to get universal respect & acclaim from critcs, we don't really like it. Though we can disagree on storyline decisions, we can't understand how critics no longer care about obvious plot holes or underdeveloped characters like they normally do. Finally, we gotta see multiple articles that say we're racist & sexist for not liking the same shit we were criticized for liking "unconditionally" before.

It was pretty evident that this was going to happen. The bullshit
was bereft of ideas. Where as Lucas took us to places like Camino,
Geonosis and Coruscant, in which he depicted such a modicum
of the unexpected, so that we could persuaded to think we were
seeing alien worlds, this last movie looked like everything was
happening on earth. The story was convoluted, and contained
no less than 3 pointless subplots. And then, they had the nerve
to violate our faith by having a Sith fight side by side with
a Jedi, therefore introducing confusion about merits of virtue
or the demerits of evil. It succeeded in destroying the mystique
of Luke Skywalker, by depicting him even as diabolical. Then
it had the temerity to impugn our intelligence, and have Leia
fly in open space without a space suit. To top it all, an untrained
Jedi, Rey, exhibited more force-powers than Yoda or Windou
ever did...
The incredulity enervated our energy, and sapped our desire
to see the bullshit. Our antipathy toward that bullshit certainly
carried into the next weeked, which usually is the time when
casual fans and fence sitters are moved into patronage by our
endorsement of the movie. In this case, all they heard was
condemnation. I predict that the numbers this week will be
even worse than last week's.

This is the 3rd star wars movie in a row. Where I haven't gone back to the theater and watched it again. The force awakens was alright but to me didn't really warrant. A second viewing. Now rogue one I was being lazy. And just didn't go back. This shit hell no.
When the phantom menace dropped. I saw that shit 3 days in a row(Friday, Saturday,ans Sunday). I saw attack of the clones on just the Friday and Saturday viewing. Revenge of the sith I saw it on a Saturday. And got ahold of a bootleg copy a few weeks later.

Now, if we gonna talk about the Matrix we gotta think about the source material. The brothers turned sisters took this story from a Black woman and I think the original story was only enough to fill the first movie, (please correct me if I'm wrong). So in my mind, movies 2 and 3 - which don't exist - were sad attempts to fill plot holes and finish a story they had no ending to.
Those two are not the best storytellers, (still haven't watched episode 2 of Sense8), but they have an eye. However just like with Snyder, having an eye only gets you so far. Reloaded and Revelations are trash. Point. Blank. Period. And this whole thing about starting out for mankind and ending with a pussy hunt - totally agree! If you were mankinds last hope, why are you going to kill yourself? No one considered a savior or martyr lived easy lives...this dude was not the second coming. Like The Last Jedi, Age of Ultron opened big but not quite as big as its predecessor, managing a $191 million first weekend versus the $207 million of Avengers. More instructively, though, Age of Ultron also experienced a fairly severe second-weekend dip, falling 59.4 percent versus Avengers’ mere 50.4 percent dip — and in Ultron’s case, against nearly nonexistent competition, with the next-best performer being the debut of Hot Pursuit at a measly $14 million. No other movie managed more than $6 million that weekend; compare that to The Last Jedi’s second weekend, on which Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and The Greatest Showman both debuted — not to mention weaker performers like Downsizing and Father Figures, also in wide release. That is a sizable amount of competition, especially considering the success of Jumanji, and the comparison looks even more favorable to Last Jedi if you factor in the whole Christmas Eve Sunday hit.

Once you factor in that element, a completely different picture emerges: At day 13, The Last Jedi boasts a remarkable $445 million, which looks awfully good when you compare it to Age of Ultron’s $329 million at the same point in its release, not to mention Civil War’s $311 million. In fact, it renders all second-weekend evaluations completely premature: While the ten-day charts saw The Last Jedi fall behind Avengers and Jurassic World, the nature of this holiday dynamic allowed it to immediately surge past both films by the following Wednesday. (This doesn’t even get into international grosses, which are just fine, with a China release still to come.)
So yes, if your only comparison points for The Last Jedi are the three highest-grossing movies of all time, all of which rode massive, years-long waves of nostalgia and anticipation, you could conceivably call it a disappointment — and even then, you’d probably still be wrong.
