Charles Barkley Will Pledge $1 Mil to Black Women in AL for IT startups: “No weave shops”

I'm confused on why people don't want to give black men their props with what happened in Alabama?

It was a strong showing by both, and there wasn't a huge gap between the two. They could've simply given props to the black community, but you'd think black men were supporting Moore by the way they're heaping ALL the praise on black women.

We don't ever get props for anything. Everything is our fault, we get all of the blame and non of the credit for anything positive.

same way we voted for hillary too
i saw one tweet thread where the person was saying black men voted against moore because they were taught by black women.

like
equality or nah?
cause lol

Fair, but Chuck is a black man, and he is outspoken...

...so I'm surprised. I mean, I'm not losing any sleep, but both black women and men did their jobs. It is just weird to not acknowledge black men at ALL.

Something is going on. So many people, with no connection to each other, seem to understand that ALL the praise should go to black women.

Chuck can come out and joke about black women opening weave shops - which is going to be seen as offensive to some - but he can't acknowledge black men?

And this is literally NO KNOCK to black women. They did their fucking job. All I'm saying is, we did, too. LOL

It's been like that since November
And saying black men did it too shouldn't be seen as a knock on black women it should be seen as we're TOGETHER in our thinking and voting which is what everybody claims they want..
and its independent from when a black woman does something alone. she alone deserves credit 100000%
but if WE did it then WE did it.
if 98% of black women voted for jones and 92% of black men voted for moore guess who'd have won? lol

Maybe this is a era where empowering and acknowledging women is more important than empowering and acknowledging men, because we've historically benefited from the system more so than women.

Not BLACK MEN, but ... we're men...soo...

I think they are saying that because black women were 17% of voters and black men 11%, so black women came out in larger numbers but of the black men and women who came out, they both majority voted Jones.

White men made up 35% and white women, 34% of the voters.

I forget the percentage of black folks in the state population, but black turnout as a percentage was slightly higher than their population percentage.

You would think that 90% of black men voted for pedo Moore...Almost 40% more of the black male vote went to Jones than white women. I have been going hard on all of my progressive white female friends because this insane. Imagine if the black male vote had been split....:smh:

Obviously black women and their numbers were higher, but if the point was to acknowledge the contrast between black voters and white voters, then it doesn't make sense to exclude black men.

You said you were confused, I gave my understanding of the reason why. Twitter and social media were giving black women their props, but the on air tv reporting I've seen thus far has mentioned African Americans as a group, and not made that distinction.

White women are also getting credit, even tho 63% went for Moore, the reason being less voted for him than what usually choose the republican candidate.

It's not that black men didn't do anything - the fact of the matter is, when it comes to showing up against misogyny, sexism and sexual misconduct in this election, black women showed white women that we actually will vote against those who support those topics..and, obviously, majority of white women won;t.

It's a shame when women, regardless of color, don't understand the implications of voting an alleged pedophile into office - black women just showed white women we actually care and won't stand for it. We're nurturers and, if a woman can't understand that, well...that's just sad.

Black voter turn out, in general, though, was awesome in Alabama. But, statistically speaking, more black women turned up to vote than black men.

I agree with all of this but you are leaving out one huge fact; there has been a multigenerational effort to disenfranchise black men in the South and it still didn't work. Also, fuck white women for this bullshit.

Are you niggas a bunch of sensitive bitches? He said he was giving a million for IT startups, not restaurants and hair shops.

We need more fucking. IT startups. Fuck weave shops and stupid restaurants that most likely will go out of business. There’s way more chance for growth and higher salaries from technology. Hair shops and restaurants are isolated and small businesses. Only the owners will make some money, the rest will be minimum wage.

It’s as if someone must praise and worship each and every thing every single black persons has to say, otherwise he’s a coon.

Well I say, fuck You! You bum ass niggas have never donated to ANYTHING but yet you will criticize someone pledging a fucking million? Are you nuts?

I’m certain that if everyone here took an iq test, 55% would be below average, 25% would be average, 15% above average and 5% genius level. Unfortunately, I’m the only genius who regularly posts here. The majority of the voices here are you below average emotional idiots. Nobody here ever has an original opinion on anything. Everything is “coon and cac”.

Agreed - also, remember, white women voted for our pussy-grabbing president in large droves too. They'll vote to continue to uphold white mediocrity, "Christian values," and white supremacy over decency and morals...it's fucking disgusting.

He's presenting a stereotypical, biased view of the only tops of "shops" black women can own...

Sad thing is, in actuality, most hair shops are owned by Asians than African Americans...but, I digress...

Mind you, black women make up the fastest growing group of business owners in America...and, I'm pretty sure they're not all hair shops and restaurants :rolleyes2:

So what? If Barkley is donating money he has the right to decide what kind of businesses he’s supporting.

How is he stereo typing? It’s true what he said.... if black womenare going to open up a shops it’ll likely be a hair salon or a restaurant. He’s trying to get black women on the other side... IT businesses and you people are bent out of shape. I don’t get you niggas. Something is wrong with you.

If some Arab prince says he’s going to pledge 1 million for Arab IT startups and he says no smoke shops, will Arabs be calling him a coon? It’s only blacks who think every single thing is a coonish unless you’re holding up a black power fish while wearing a dashiki. Smh. You guys are wrong 100%

You know good and god damn well that the that's not the only types of shops owned by black women.

Whereas it may be true that many of our industries are service-related, they're not all hair salons and restaurants. In the article I posted, one sister opened up a cleaning service - another one opened up a consultation firm.

Truth be told, most people (regardless of gender/ethnicity) are going to open up shops in arenas in which they feel most comfortable or in which they have the most expertise. Maybe surrounding yourself with educated persons will allow you to recognize that black women can have the entrepreneurial drive to do more than just own hair shops and restaurants...

And..... Barkley has every right to decide which type of businesses he wants to sponsor. That does not make him a coon.

Shaq not no coon he do more for the community than most celebrities
Shaqs a coon because he’s not on the air screaming kill white people. He’s also a coon because he thought that the black gunman who shot 10 people was unjustly beat up by police. /sarcasm

Weave shop joke from a guy who goes home to a cac every night. Nice.
Don't talk about his wife she has held him down for years. He got a good woman.

They been married since 1989. He found a stable woman he can grow old with compared to alot of other cases.
