Official NBA 2017-2018 Thread - Final day of the regular with playoff seating still unknown

Thunder pretty much play to the leve of their competition because they have no identity as a team.

That kinda makes them silently dangerous, but would not last deep in the playoffs. If they make it. Lol.

They'll make it. Only a two game lead from 5th seed on. Somebody will fall and let them in. Probably the Nuggets cuz those dudes can't buy a road win.

The biggest issue with them in my opinion is they have no continuity. Thats one thing people don't look at when they get all geeked because a group of stars are on the same team. Its like, the coaching staff AND the players don't know how to play together.

Watching them its like, 'Ok, now Russell you shoot, now Melo you shoot, now PG you shoot...'. They really don't know how to play together and the coaching staff is clueless... Also, outside of PG, the other two are really primarily focused on putting the majority of their energy on offense... They are literally the old Phoenix Suns in terms of mentality, but even though he is an amazing force, Westbrook really isn't a championship winning or go deep into the playoffs type of point guard. This team really doesn't have a 'pure' positional player and that will ultimately kill them...

Yeah. They definitely do not have any team chemistry. Russ is just too ball dominate to play with other super stars. I hate to think that he isn't a championship winner because he goes hard for the game, but there is no flow to their offense. This is definitely a coaching issue.

Would be shocking if Harden doesn't win the MVP this season.
He won't. They used every excuse not to give it to him.

When Curry won it, the pundits essentially said best player on the best team... So it was about winning

Fast forward to last year when Westbrook won, Harden helped his team get the second best record in the league, put up crazy individual numbers and not only beat the MVP head to head in the playoffs but also had a substantially better record... So then it wasn't about winning

Fact if the matter is, people don't like his style of play. Plus they still harp on that "Harden don't play defense" bullshit and there it is. All the justification they need to fuck him out of the MVP again.

and people were wondering about CP3 and Harden more than Russ/Melo/George :smh:
Dude I had no doubt about that shit working.

These are two of the smartest and unselfish basketball players in the game now. At the end of the day it comes down to ball, and both of them cats can do that at a very high level.

It's hard to erase the memory of Harden choking in the playoffs

Are we going to give it to him, just so he goes 4-20 with eight turnovers in game seven :dunno:

Well, I agree but disagree fam...

One, the MVP is a REGULAR season award. Yeah Harden has been extra smedium in the playoffs, but that doesn't (or isn't supposed to) count towards a regular season award.

Two, I don't think that's gonna happen this year simply because of Chris Paul being in the fold. In their wins recently, Harden has been a scorer and Paul has had the big assist numbers. Last night Harden had 48 points but only 3 assists while Paul had 7. I'm the game where they played Utah Harden had low assist numbers, high points, and Paul had double digit assists.

I think in the playoffs Paul will really set the tone and orchestrate things while Harden will focus more on getting buckets. I don't expect to see high assist numbers from Harden any more... He may have an outlier here and there but I don't see him averaging 9+ assists per game as he is now.

He’s showing a pattern of being a choke artist.. did it in 2011 in the finals, last season against the spurs and season before that against GS with 13 TOS smh

Still not sold on Htown and not because of the players but more so D’Phoni

It’s easy to catch teams off guard on a nightly basis but now come playoffs when you gotta see teams for 7 games.. D’Phoni has no defensive sets and he always gets exposed

But the Rockets are currently 5th in the league defensively, @BDR

I'd like to see it hold up in the playoffs or for an entire season, but c'mon man gotta give credit where it's due...

On the other end of that 40 point 4th quarter last night was a defensive effort holding Portland to 19 points in the 4th quarter... I'm not gonna let you or anyone blame that on them Portland niggas just going cold...

Breh D’Phoni is a fraud... He had Phoenix lookin all world too... the real test will come playoff time..

As for Portland them niggas inconsistent but when they are on they are on

I won't say he got screwed out of those last two seasons. Warriors broke the single season win record and Russ averaged a triple double. Those two things aren't happening this year so he should be front runner. Just got to worry about Kyrie continuing his play along with the Celtics winning.

He'll get it this year. He's definitely undisputed at this point.

Last year sure yes he was.

Man please. Curry getting two is utter bullshit.

It's absolutely not regardless of how much you hate him he was the MVP both years.
1st year by standard rules and then came back the next year and played even BETTER on a 73 win team there's no debate. And you wouldn't be looking to have a debate if it were any other player that had done the same things.

Now back to Lebron its greatness fatigue which is a problem and shouldn't be a thing but it is a thing unfortunately
Lebron and Rodgers go through the same thing every year they are on teams that they engineer to the playoffs and fall in shambles when they're not there. Lebron should have 7 or 8 mvp's and so should Aaron Rodgers unless someone has a real anomaly year meaning the stats and impact on the team in the standings show up.
cause their impact is proven every year.

Why? We don't need him righht now. Let him get his conditioning back and make sure he's 100%

NO.

The guy who averaged 25 7 and 7 while playing high level defense who left one team and turned it into lottery scum and went to another team that was lottery scum and took them to a finals should have been MVP. Period.

Took them to the Finals in the weak ass East. Curry did his shit in the stacked West fam. How hard is it for you niggas to see that shit?

you're kinda proving my point.

When Curry won it was about winning... Best player on the best team. 73 - 9 season and he was their best player. Rockets were a 3 seed I believe that year, so of the players in contention for the award, the player with the better record won out.

Last year, of the two players in contention for the award, Harden had the better record, beat Westbrook in the playoffs, and his numbers were every bit as good as Westbrook's were.

So which is it? Is it or is it not about winning? Best player on the best team, right?

Again I'm not taking anything away from Russ last year because it was phenomenal... but he shouldn't have won the MVP in my honest opinion. People just became enamored with the triple double and that's what pushed Westbrook to victory.

Westbrook's season last year was no better than Harden's.

Lebron has played in a weak east...

...is an attack the rim player, in an era of weak interior defenders, and he is often the biggest player on the court ...

...it has been proven he can be neutralized offensively if you sag off him and dare him to shoot. Even one of his not so secret admirers, Nick Wright, admitted that the Spurs 'solved' Lebron up until about the last game. They ain't the first team.

The Dubs had solved Lebron with Bogut defending, but when Draymond got suspended, and Bogut got injured, there were articles stating that it'd be much easier for Cleveland now that there was no legit rim protection ...

...and, suddenly, they come back from 3-1.

I know you niggas love filled stat sheets. How many niggas ain't doing that nowadays? Lebron ain't even the best at it. I'm still trying to figure out, how Lebron never averages a double-double, and 6'4 Russ Westbrook averages it more than once, and so does James Harden.

Ain't that your claim to fame? Being an all-around player?

I will at least give Lebronze credit for closing out games this year. I'm not watching the games, and I'd imagine its mostly him attacking the rim, and teams STUPIDLY not playing him for the drive. But he's doing consistently what many said he couldn't.

Make that ugly jumper having ass nigga shoot that bullshit.
