Breaking: Giancarlo Stanton to STANKEES....SMH

Yankees bullpen is one of the best in baseball. What makes the pitching so suspect?

Starting pitching is suspect. Severino shows promise but he's inconstant. Not yet an ace. Tanaka is always hurt and really up and down. One game brilliant, the next pitching batting practice. C.C. is what he is. Certainly not a #3 and he doesn't give enough innings to be a back-of-the-rotation starter. Yeah, they need pitching help. A solid 1 or 1a and an inning eater is what they need to add.

I don't understand how this is good for baseball. SMH

The Yankees remain baseballs number one franchise. So yeah anytime your top franchises are doing well its good for the sport. Imagine basketball without the Lakers and Celtics, the game would still do well but the rivalries is what makes the games special. Keeps the fans talking and puts fans in the seats.

Besides baseball wants the Yankees competitive its the New York market.

i agree. but what about sonny gray, jordan montgomery? i'm not saying the yankees have the best pitching in the league, but they have a competitive group. severino and montgomery are only going to get better. they can trade clint frazier for some nice pitching prospects or for a solid veteran. yankees are on the move up.

Ehhhhhh

Too much money for too many years

Should have held out for Bryce or when Trout wants to be traded

I seriously doubt the Yankees want anyone else named Trout on their team. The last guy (Steve Trout) was a disaster.

Finished 0 Wins 4 Losses and a 6.60 era he was horrible. Yankee outfielders had to purchase addition life insurance coverage, they kept running into the walls. Just terrible! :smh:

Could end up working against the Yankees in the long run. With them having to give up so much could be the Hershal Walker deal all over again.

Yankees aren't giving up anything. Just equal values in contracts. None of our prospects are being touched. Castro was gonna have to moved since Torres is a better player anyway

On paper. If I'm the Marlins I do this deal. Replenish the farm system. Could be more beneficial to them in the long run.

Jeter knows the farm system is the way to develop a franchise. He'll trade the boat anchor of a contract and build his farm system and putting a team on the field. He knows he can begin to compete until the 2020's.

Yankees are taking on the contract. I doubt the Marlins get the world for him. It could be good for the Yankees, but a great pitcher might get 20 strikeouts against them the way Judge and Stanton strikeout. Stanton goes on the DL a lot too.

Sonny Gray had me scratching my head. I know Cash wanted to do something but Gray and Garcia? Garcia sucks, and Gray just hasn't shown he's back to being a front line pitcher. What has Montgomery shown? Flashes. There's an old saying in baseball: the unemployment line is filled with guys with potential. Unless they show they can do it a few years in a row, you're just hoping. Like I said, they a guy they can trot out there every fifth day like Sale or Kluber or Bumgardner. Will Severino be that guy? Maybe. Then you need a strong #2. Tanaka is a #3 at best. Then you need an innings eater. Maybe Montgomery can be that. And you can find room for C.C.. Then you need a couple more ready to step in because pitchers always get hurt.
So, yeah, Yanks staff is far from worry-free. Look at the Mets.

but thats the perfect example. the mets have a killers row, on paper. in reality, they did not produce.
yankees have a good staff, and they have enough chips to trade for pitching. they will be fine.

My point is the Mets staff was rated #1 and injuries decimated them. Production had nothing to do with it. All you need to do is look at Verlander to see what an ace can do for your staff. The Yankees were the only league series team without an ace.
And as far as chips, do you actually think other teams are going to give up star players without asking for all the Yanks top prospects? Which the Yanks say they won't give up.
Stanton is a perfect storm. Salary dump.

Now if the Yanks can turn Stanton and some top prospects into Trout....

your points are valid. all i am saying is, they yankees were a game away from the world series with their current staff. a few additions should only make them better, and players will always want to be a yankee. as far as top prospects, the yankees dont need to fleece the farm. frazier is a blue chip prospect that the yankees no longer need. i would keep hicks, but he is tradeable now. the yankees can make 2 or 3 trades and still be in good shape on the farm. they may not get an ace, but they can get quality.

Well, I doubt anybody wants Hicks. Anyway, the Yank's staff is not reliable. You can't really say what they'll be. "Ifs" and "buts," "candy and nuts" just won't get it done. They need a horse or two. Even with Severino. And every GM in the business knows what the Yanks have and what they want/need. So a deal for a stud pitcher won't be easy. Just remember, the staff pitched their best last year (apart from Gray), they really pitched a lot better then everybody expected. I doubt they'll do as well two years in a row.

And not everybody wants to be a Yankee. Some can't handle NYC, don't like it or are just afraid. Some come and fail big time. That japanese dude didn't want to come here.

I don't think Cash is finished by a long shot but finding pitching is HARD.

Thank you Derek Jeter
