I’m slightly holding my breath but it looks like déjà vu again for Norwood

What's deal with this election. I was reading up on it today. The media make it seems like both Norwood and Bottoms are crazy. They also trying to say a lot of black local politicians are pulling for Norwood :eek2: What are the numbers?

Click the link you won’t believe it that’s why says déjà vu again for Mary Norwood

Wow.
Just wow.

Why don't democrats "throw dirt" by saying that their populist opponents are "Trump Supporters" in the same way that Rebublicans use "liberal" as a slur?
It will then be up to that opponent to either go full steam and defend Trump or denounce him.

They did 8 years ago and they did it again this time. Some local reporter on Roland Martin's show the other night said it wasn't going to work this time :giggle:

Norwood better stay low because I think she is in some legal trouble Because of mis-use of her campaign money

They did

There's less than 500k people in Atlanta. People often say they live in the the ATL, but actually live in the metro area (which consists of several counties and cities), not ATL the city.
Yup. And the reason why is because downtown Atlanta was shit. The black people that love here from other cities quickly move to suburbs

Bottoms did a phone in on the breakfast club this week which was great. I hope so pushed that same message locally though. I'm still pretty upset with nigs though. 759 votes... :hmm:
Yeah a lot of ppl don't actually live in Atlanta but damn.

I sure if anything happens it will simply be a fine and a slap on the wrist.

Atlanta should be ashamed of itself.

Like hell it should. This the same city in which many champion for debauchery and lewd behavior . U cannot call for shame politically when skanks are championed.

Fuck niggas who don't live there or the surrounding burbs gonna shame voters about even the thought of a white mayor. If America had O the A can and should have a white mayor in the future. Niggas wanna keep ish status quo. Just for looks.

Got family in city, burbs and the rural area.

Yeah she went out like Hillary.
A lot of politicians jumped ship when she looked like she had it in the bag. Now they are caught out there. Oh well.

Its a shame you wernt born a century and change earlier. You woulda made a great slave.

Grow up lil fella. Im saying having someone black in office if they aren't doing anything positive for the community is pointless. Its also time for a change in leadership if they aren't doing what they need to do.

I have fam in office higher then the state. I've seen the way things work. U talking out ya ass from an emotional standpoint. I love having new flavor at my spots in the community. They love adventure its better for my pockets.

How many millions of black people in Atlanta? A democratic runoff race for mayor and only 92,000 votes.

Still haven't learned a damn thing. :smh:

I caught part of Roland Martin's show this morning. They said between 17-23% of voters in various counties showed up, they also said that is normal for mayoral races. Roland wasn't happy about it, though.

Roland probably is looking at this the same way I am. Black voters need to understand politics is a matter that can't be ignored. Our cavalier approach to politics is part of the reason why we're rarely happy with our choices on election day. We do ourselves as much damage NOT VOTING as the republicans with their gerrymandering, redistricting and their other underhanded tactics..

The saving grace with Atlanta is that the white Buckhead crowd was unhappy with Norwood

Norwood is the dirty one she been doing some strange stuff with her she campaign cash

I see the Atl Mayor has been Black for decades but I don't see it as a Black and white thing.

Reed was a good mayor and not necessarily connected to Shirley Franklin who was connected to Bill Campbell.

Would voters there see the endorsement from Shirley Frankin as a bad thing for Norwood?

Depends on the circles you run in. Most people I know are moving in the city...or at least closer. Atlanta is gentrifying like crazy

Shirley Franklin and Cesar need to be ran out of town

Whelp, Kasim tried to tellem...

@ 1:50 mark

Yes it is kinda sad and crazy....but I have never seen a large turnout for any city that I have lived in for a mayorial race. Once I saw a black candidate run for mayor in a race back home and they got 600 votes. They came in 2nd place. I thought to my self that I could have gotten my high school mates and other people that I knew to vote for me and easily topped those numbers as a write in candidate.

Atlanta should be ashamed of itself.

Yesterday I heard a story about how the AU Center was one of the largest active precincts back in the day. They had a group of 4,000 students. All of those students formed a powerful voting block for years. Every semester they would always register the new group of incoming freshmen to vote. They were such a unified force....that one year they got a student body member elected to a city council position. That person became one of the youngest people to serve as an elected official in the city's history. After that, the powers that be said...NO MORE. They moved the either the primary or registration period to August..which was when students were on break and out of town. Sometimes when we make progress...they move the goalposts.

Confused, so ATL somehow preferred Norwood?? Or is the Bottoms chick dirty?

I used to wonder about her political path and why only a few people would ride for her. I even wanted to know what was up with her hypenated name. Then I found out that he was her dad.

Shirley Franklin actually pissed off a lot of black women with that endorsement. As far as Kasim Reed goes he has his ways but going out the door financially this city is in great shape compared to when he first got into the office

Shirley Franklin became the city's first black female mayor after the 2001 election. The city's population grew from 416,474 in 2000 to 448,901 in 2015 according to the United States Census Bureau. During this time, the portion of the city's population that was black shrank from 61.4 percent to 52.9 percent.

It has been said that under Kasim Reed, the city of Atlanta did not build any affordable housing. They had over 100 million dollars set aside for that. Instead the city used 30 million from that fund reserved for affordable housing to purchase land. The joke about Kasim is that if a white republican mayor was in office during his term...black Atlantans would notice any thing different.
