Official 2017-2018 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread

Steelers will win enough games to make the playoffs but I don't believe their defense is good enough to get to the Superbowl.

Trust me defense has nothing.........absolutely nothing to do with the two loses. Redzone offense is the reason for the two loses.

....and of course the Ravens are up over the Raiders. Fucking cocksuckers.

My concern is securing the Division and getting some separation over the Patriots. We should be two games up on BOTH of them.
Agreed. We letting games get away that will hurt us in the end. :smh:

Gerry Dulac's report card: Jaguars 30, Steelers 9

Quarterback: This kind of had the look of the Tommy Maddox game against the Jaguars in 2005. Ben Roethlisberger threw five interceptions for the first time in his career, two of which were returned for touchdowns, against the league’s No. 1 ranked pass defense. The other led to the first touchdown. Even the rest of it wasn’t very good after the opening 49-yarder to Antonio Brown. Of his 33 completions, 16 were for 6 yards or fewer. Grade: F

Running backs: Le’Veon Bell had 25 touches but only 15 rushes against the league’s lowest-ranked run defense. Worse, he averaged only 3.7 yards per touch. Bell broke off a 15-yard run on the field-goal drive that gave the Steelers their only lead, but his other 14 carries gained just 32 yards. Same in the pass game. He was targeted 10 times and caught all 10 passes, but they aren’t productive, not when they gain only 46 yards. Grade: D

Receivers: It has become quite apparent that the only receiver who can or is making any plays is Antonio Brown. He was targeted a whopping 19 times and finished with 10 catches for 157 yards. Brown had four catches for 97 yards in the first half, including the 49-yarder on the first play and a 23-yard catch-and-run on the second FG drive. There’s something wrong with the scheme when Martavis Bryant has five catches for a 4.2-yard average. Grade: D

Offensive line: It wasn’t as if Roethlisberger didn’t have time to throw, especially in the first half. He was sacked twice by the team that leads the league in sacks (18), but both came in the second half when he attempted 34 passes. However, he was hit on a blitz on his first interception and his second pick was tipped at the line before it was returned for a touchdown. David Decastro’s holding penalty wiped out a late TD pass to Brown. Grade: D

Defensive line: It doesn’t seem to matter if it’s the Bears gashing them with outside zone blocking or the Jaguars lining up and running straight at them – they gave up more than 200 yards rushing for the second time in three games. The Jaguars finished with 231 yards, thanks to a 90-yard TD by rookie Leonard Fournette, and ran the ball at will in the second half. That was evident when they ran on all 12 plays on a FG drive to start the fourth quarter. Grade: F

Linebackers: Ryan Shazier had another interception – his sixth in the past 10 games – to set up a FG at the end of the half. And T.J. Watt and Vince Williams had the only two sacks on Blake Bortles. But the defense got worn down in the second half and couldn’t stop the Jaguars’ downhill run game, even when they knew it was coming. The Steelers couldn’t even blame missed tackles. They got outpositioned and outblocked. Grade: D

Secondary: The statistical oddity of the Jaguars’ defensive performance is the Steelers will supplant them as the No. 1 pass defense in the league because Bortles attempted just one pass in the second half and finished with 95 yards. His 31-yard pass to Marqise Lee was the longest against the Steelers this season. Mike Mitchell made two nice open-field tackles on Fournette, but does he really have to celebrate after a 12-yard gain? Grade: B

Special teams: The only good news is Chris Boswell made all three field goals. The bad news is he supplied all the points. Otherwise, there were only two kick returns of any kind in the game – a 14-yard kickoff return by the Jaguars and a 9-yard kick return by JuJu Smith-Schuster. The Jaguars couldn’t even take advantage of good field positon after a 29-yard punt by Jordan Berry. Grade: C+

Coaching: The players didn’t even want to use missed tackles as an excuse after another poor performance against the run. In the past 12 quarters, the defense has allowed nine runs of 18 yards or longer, two of 50+ yards. The offense continues to go sideways – literally and figuratively – when 16 completions gain just 6 yards or fewer. Something is not right when Bryant and Bell combine for 30 touches and average 3.8 yards per touch. Grade: D

Just throw the whole game away!!!:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

Todd Haley ........there is a reason he has gotten zero job offers

Nah
Big Ben is trash this ain't on Haley
its the same incredible offensive machine it was with Haley calling the calls when Ben still had some left in the tank
When your qb is trash everything else suffers.

I wouldn't put it all on Haley. Bell fucked up by not being in camp. Point blank period. I would stop doing so many runs out of the shotgun though. Fuck dat shit. Give Connor more runs too. Just a few.

He's not playing well at all. He has never been this bad in his career.

ZQXNY2.jpg

consistently this bad no but he's been trash on the road for the past 3 years
then towards the end of last year his arm and decision making went bad
then spent the off season talking about he might retire
then shat on brown talking about being a distraction and shat on tomlin as well

The locker room is split up, you know it is bad when they were not even all on the same page when they protested.

Big Ben is past his prime, but let's be for real, the offensive line is not that good. I think they still runaway with the division, and win a playoff game.

We just have to improve our chemistry Bryant was out last year and preseason Bell was out preseason tuit was out a couple of games. And Ben could play better. But Ben is still great. Landry is a bum if we didn't have Ben we would be in trouble...

Calm down

Jones ain't shit. Your right. His mother ain't shit. Still a long season I agree. Steelers go out and win 4 straight you forget all about this game.

You realize they ain't going 16-0 Right? It's the type of game the Steelers win too. A couple turnovers, injury here or there and the Steelers win. Trust me. When you think shit won't happen in the NFL it happens.

Ain't nobody say.nothing about no 16-0

I know you riding for your squad but I've never heard a QB give into self pity like Rapeisberguer did yesterday...he was talking all off-season about retirement and to say all that shit yesterday shows that self doubt is creeping in.

Not about riding for my team. I had the Steelers losing both to the Bears and Jags cause of the history of this team. I'm one of the realist muthafuckas on here when it comes to talking about my team's. Chiefs can lose next week period. Plus their dealing with some serious injuries. Let's not sit up here and act like Bell can't go for 200 yards against them. That's all I'm saying. It's the type of game the Steelers win if you go by their recent history.
