Tell that too the motherfuckers who had to stand in front of Mike Tyson, IN CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHTS!!!

Dude this bullshit of 'the best needs to fight the best' nonsense has been thrown out the door for over 20 years now, Floyd got rich doing it, and a helluva lot of other fighters built their careers on it. Dudes don't get punched in the face to prove whose the best, they get in their to make as much money as they can with as little risk. Everyone wants to blame the sanctioning bodies but its the fighter too, and if anyone TRIES to claim Floyd fought the best most talented fighters available each time he fought they need their fucking head examined. Floyd was what he was, and he even proved it in August, an amazing talented fighter who was even more amazing at selling a potential 'threat' and mitigating the notion of other real threats.... You avoid fighting a fighter for less money (WHICH AGAIN, MAKES SENSE TO ME), sooner or later they are going to get caught slipping, then you can switch the narrative to say (see, he lost, he wasn't that good so I didn't fight him)... Wash, rinse, repeat bullshit, and most people fell for that shit in a lot of cases...

Notice I said a certain level. Tyson fought NO ONE. And when he did fight Holyfield and Lewis...No fear. And they beat that ass.

And the best do fight the best ON THE WAY UP. Once you get there,it can still happen but there has to be some consistency and ability to draw from the new guy. That didn't start with Floyd. There are tons of fighters who couldve fought Muhammad Ali but they weren't with the right promotion. Sugrarray Leonard and a few others were able to stay away from Aaron Pryor because he didn't have the draw back then. Countless stories of couldve beens.

Floyd was put to tons of legit tests on his way up. You show me another fighter who fought through several generations of newcomers and at the level he did and win at the age he did. Ali didn't. Tysom didn't. Joe Louis didn't. Larry holmes didnt. Sugar Ray didn't. Neither one.

Bruh you keep throwing in things "like tender"/"sensitive" (that's sideshow shit) to try and help your argument but they don't. They simply weaken your argument.
Your argument was that Floyd ducked Paul Williams. The fact is he did not duck Paul Williams.
Your other argument is that if he really wanted to fight Paul Williams he would have offered him money if he really wanted to fight him. That's the position of the lessor name fighter trying to come up.
Hell..Floyd didn't really start making money until some time after 2007
Your arguments are just silly.

Sorry. Floyd ducked the fuck out of Paul Williams. That muthafucka was fighting at welterweight. He was taller and longer. Floyd avoided that fight because unlike EVERY fight he had at welterweight it's the one fight he couldn't simply back up and counter. The height and arm length meant eating a damn good jab all night and "risking" getting caught to land a punch. Too much of a risk to fight Williams. So yeah, call it ducked or avoided. Either way Floyd didn't want that fight. Smart move for him.

How is a fight (in England, check my post) that would break a record lose money? If done in March they have 6 months to promote. Remember they had less than that between the Chavez fight and last night's fight. Besides, the fact that it's a rematch promotes itself.

Also the talk of the post fight was NOT having the fight in Vegas because they feel like GGG wouldn't get a fair one. GGG needs to act fast while he has this leverage to set things up to his advantage and sitting for 9 to 12 months does not do that.

A fight with BJS is easy work with high reward. There is nothing to negotiate here but if there was you have 2 - 3 months to do it and and 8 week training camp.

As far as promo, Oscar did most of it this last fight. Why should that change now?
there is always shit to negotiate and its rarely ever quick

there will be a 10 week camp not 8

the A side promoter is still golden boy - so there is not a Canelo fight away from Vegas / near Mexico
MGM Las Vegas etc own pro boxing
IMO if G insists on moving there will be no rematch

This re match is like nothing GGG people have ever seen or promoted before - there is no comparing to any other fights of G or Canelo except Mayweather
this rematch can be on Mayweather levels of revenue if done right - bigger than Canelo Mayweather on par with Pac Mayweather- this means a longer promo tour and effort
Golden Boy Top Rank will want to build up a show to Mayweather Pac or Mayweather Canelo numbers
coming out of BJS in march to fight Canelo in Sept is unrealistic when you look at the politics and logistics
1. negotiating the rematch can not start until after the BJS fight which is a risk and will cause lost time for promo
2. a rematch is not a promo leg up - to get the best numbers these guys need to pull in casual fans globally - that requires a spectacle - that neither is capable of on their own - they need the fight to break through to pop status

I'm saying:
this rematch on Cinco de mayo-
in Vegas-
after a global promo tour and pop media placement
is way more money in Sponsors merch PPV gate endorsements than a BJS fight in England and a September rematch

Vegas MGM and US \Mexican Sponsors pockets are just deeper
You think Corona Cuervo Tecate etc going to let that shit happen anywhere else or time?

It was planned that way so they get a rematch

Basically.

Some would say Boxing is dead, but imho, theres actually some good fighters out here. The good Boxers dont have the popular names or a promoter who loves the sport, so thats why we get Floyd vs Conor, female judges who are told what to do, etc etc.

boxing is coming back, the fuckin klitchskos damn near killed the sport, now that they are pretty much out the way,

boxing is gonna have a little surge.... heavyweight division is starting to get interesting again....

by the way anybody got links to the highlights of the fight last night..

We'll just agree to disagree. Respect.

If we can get the Spence's, Crawford's, Joshua's, etc can start fighting each other, boxing would a true comeback. We need competitive fights and not winning titles hiding behind mandatories, etc. We've got a nice core of talent out there and this has to potentially be one one the best eras in boxing since the late 90s early 2000s

Yup, but 2017 has been a monumental step in the right direction for boxing (bad decisions aside).

We've had several top p4p guys fight each other, and we still have Rigo vs Loma (I'm not a fan of this fight but whatever) in Dec.

It sucks that HBO has basically killed of their boxing, but ESPN hopefully picks up their slack.

Boxing still needs a true marketable personality. Someone needs to step forward and be that person. Canelo isn't that polarizing person for all boxing fans.

He didn’t duck Paul Williams. He didn’t fight Paul because it wasn’t the most money on the table.

Totally devoid of facts. Floyd is and was a certifiable SUPERSTAR when he was fighting years ago. He could fight a fuckin' midget (AND HE DID) and makes ridiculous amounts of money. HE was the draw not the other muthafucka. They were along for the fuckin' ride. It really TIRESOME watching folks use this reason. It's nonsense. He avoided that muthafucka who was a CHAMPION by the way because he simply couldn't use the shoulder roll shit with a significant taller fighter with a SIGNIFICANT reach advantage. You don't fight THAT dude trying to protect your undefeated record.

Theoretically that sounds correct, but he's had periodic stamina issues before at lighter weights. The difference now is, he has a guy hitting him with thudding hard ass punches in addition to the stamina problems. Canelo is definitely from a skill perspective the superior boxer, but GGG has a couple intangibles which I believe will always be Canelo's problem, a steel chin and a killer instinct. Like I said before, THIS fight was the one for Canelo to win... catch GGG flat footed early, nervous, and put the wood on him. The fact that he started out moving and running so much actually gave GGG a chance to adjust to the big stage and bright lights.

I seriously can see Canelo getting knocked down and potentially out in a rematch. GGG will be a much different animal the next fight, and I frankly don't see Canelo being able to make enough 'safe' adjustments to combat GGG's strengths...
Wrong, GGG got old overnight. He'll be much older next time.

Paul Williams LOST his very first title defense against a journeyman in Carlos Quintana. The Floyd fight looked nice on paper, but Williams wasn't a smart fighter, and he gets really overrated by people when they talk about what could have been.

Williams fought to NONE of his strengths. He was borderline 6ft 3in, but he was an volume puncher that liked to smother guys and fight on the inside.

People love talking about how Floyd avoided him but never talk about the guys who DIDN'T avoid Paul and exposed him in the process. Erislandy, Sergio, and a very average Quintana.

Kostya, Margacheeto, and Prime Mosley There's always somebody Floyd was afraid to lose his 0 against, right?

And one name you don't mention in exposing him was floyd... Thats was floyds schtick, he would duck a dude until he lost or slipped up and then piggie back off of that shit to justify his duckage... Anybody with the slightest bit of common sense caught on to that bullshit right away Bruh... You just recited it verbatim...

Yup. Canelo was coming off a loss when Floyd beat him.

Nah, he was just pre prime and green as fuck... We aren't talking about Canelo though, we are talking about Paul Williams... no need to try to deflect big guy... Ironic how you can NEVER find Floyds name mentioned when talking about good tough fighters who were exposed though... He just piggy backed off of others work to validate his duckage...

LOL 'pre-prime' He had 40 fights under his belt and was a unified champion. He just got exposed as being not as good as people thought he was. Floyd also showed that he was several levels above him.

Anyhow you said he only fought guys who slipped or lost in their last fight. Canelo proved otherwise.

For every Canelo there is a:

De La Hoya who he fought in his 3rd from last fight
Mosley who he fought in his 53rd fight
Marquez who was coming up 2 weight classes and Floyd PURPOSELY came in over weight for the fight for
Waited 7 years to fight Manny after he had lost a fight

AND

Lets not forget all of the duckage... Stop it Dude, Please :giggle:

Ok?

I agree on Marquez, but be honest. The weight wouldn't have made a lick of difference. Floyd didn't bully him or out muscle him. He outclassed him.

The Mosely thing has been beaten to death. Shane himself avoided that fight. The articles are plentiful, as are the videos of him explaining why he didn't want the fight.

You realize Manny had 3 or 4 losses BEFORE Marquez nearly killed him, right?

Yeah but he was on a roll until he ate that right though! Outside of that bullshit decision to Bradley, he was on a fucking ROLL!! Floyd saw him slept then ALL OF A SUDDEN its time to fight. Like I said, I don't take shit from Floyd, Dude was a master at this shit, but he was equally a master at dodging certain fighters and fighting others at the right times.... Elusive as hell. His greatest gift wasn't in the ring but in promoting himself. Respect to him though, but I see his bullshit for what it was... On down to that clown show a few weeks ago...

Manny declined on doing random testing. Floyd's not to blame for that.
