Warner Bros.’ The Flash movie, recently retitled The Flash: Flashpoint, doesn’t yet have a director or a firm release date, but it may be receiving a helping hand from another corner of the DC Extended Universe.

Nestled within a Forbes analysis of the commercial success of director Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Womanis the contention that star Gal Gadot is expected to make an appearance in the Flash film, characterized as “Flash’s solo movie but […] also more of another superhero team-up featuring several additional DC superheroes.”

Ray Fisher’s Cyborg was announced last year as part of the cast, but if the film will somehow adapt the 2011 DC Comics crossover “Flashpoint,” as the updated title suggests, it would certainly make sense for more heroes to join the fray.

The Forbes report added that Wonder Woman could potentially appear in the slew of Batman-related movies in the Warner Bros. pipeline. She’ll next be seen in November’s Justice League and in 2019’s Wonder Woman sequel.

The Flash film has endured a tumultuous development, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who wrote the original story treatment, courted to direct, but ultimately declining. The were succeeded first by writer Seth Grahame-Smith, in what was to be his feature directorial debut, and then by Rick Famuyiwa, who left the project in October 2016. Although numerous filmmakers, from Robert Zemeckis to Sam Raimi, have reportedly been in the running for the gig, The Flash movie still doesn’t have a director.

The Flash: Flashpoint stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Billy Crudup as Henry Allen and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Originally intended to hit theaters on March 16, 2018, the film currently has no announced release date.

didn't we TELL WB/DC to do this from the jump?

Ya'll lurking?

Jon f*cking Stewart.

Potential to do some grown up shit with the fights from that story. I want Gal Gadot to be mean as fuck in it.

DC will get it wrong.
Agreed. I feel the same way about this that I did about Superman v. Batman. It's the absolute worst story to try and make into a movie right now.

It's like if Marvel had started Captain America's movies with Civil War instead of building into it and the world around it. DC wants all of their glory up front without putting the work in. Also, it's just not a great story to set in their movie-verse. They've just barely established (or will presumably establish) what the character's norms will be here. Why muck all of that up with alternate histories?

Then again, we know nothing about this movie, so it could just be more of a name than anything else. Again citing Civil War, the MCU version of that was significant;y different from the comic version (to its benefit, IMO). We shall see.

THIS!!! If they somehow manage to not include the Aquaman vs Wonder Woman storyline, I'm going to totally give up on the DCEU. If done correctly, Flashpoint can correct most if not all of the wrongs that have been established to this point. The Flashpoint comic and animated movie was straight SAVAGE!

what does this got to do with BGOL?

bgol media group

has BEEN trying to convince WB/DC to unite its film and TV universes from the jump...

because it is easier and more cost effective to do so since they own the rights to ALL of their comic book characters.

but they REFUSE

and let Marvel do it to GREAT SUCCESS.
