Kyrie Irving requesting trade out of Cleveland to find bigger role

David Griffin said exactly what I was saying

What's backwards?

Why would he want to commit staying somewhere for another 4 or 5 years when he has no clue what the team will be like? Their culture could suck. He could hate the city. The coach might suck. The team might not be good.

If you were the GM for one of those teams Kyrie has listed, would you be ready to give up your top value assets for a guy you might only have for 2 years?

Why would Kyrie want to be traded but not want to commit anywhere? That shit is backwards.

For Cleveland to trade Kyrie they will want the motherload. For a team to give that up, they will need to be sure that Kyrie is there long term.

Yea you don't commit that early...its rare for players to sign extension that far out...2 yrs....

Westbrook haven't signed his yet...and he won the MVP

I bet you Jimmy Butler didn't guarantee he would stay in Minnesota

You think Paul George did?

Teams don't normally ask you that. What if he says he'll stay, is he allowed to change his mind? It's dumb to ask that.

Butler didnt request a trade.

Makes all the difference.

Keeping with Minnesota for example, they can look at Kyrie and say well you the one who put us on your list, you the one who wants to come here apparently, so if you want us to put our chips on the table to go get you, we need some insurances.

And its not a matter of Kyrie changing his mind, if you trade for him you sign him to an extension ASAP.

and again, why would he sign an extension without being with the team? Can you tell me an instance of when that's ever been done?

He said he wants to leave Cleveland he isn't picking where he's traded too. It's not like he has a no trade clause and can pick his team.

The difference is that Chicago wanted Butler gone and was willing to give him away for cents on the dollar, basically just getting rid of him.

Cleveland is gonna ask a team to give a huge haul back for Kyrie, they want to keep him and would only trade him if the offer is worth that much.

Im sure you've heard of "sign and trade" deals before.

Complex called Dwight a soft bitch for not wanting to play with an old washed up Kobe and bouncing as a free agent after 1 first round exit. Now hes in here cupcaking for Kyrie forcing a trade and not wanting to play with Bron after 3 Finals trips. :hmm:

I did  So you can go do a search for that?

Maybe all the dicks you've taken to the head has you in the early stages of CTE misremembering

Because I was calling Dwight a bitch and soft long before that, and I didn't really care if he left. The only problem I had was we didn't get anything for him.

We know you of all people Mrs James think it's absolutely preposterous someone wouldn't want to be within Lebron's vicinity.

Chicago wanted Butler gone. Kyrie wants to be gone.

and what does any of that have to do with a team wanting to know if you will re-sign? When is that asked of you before you even get to the team? CP3? Did Utah do that for George Hill last year? Jeff Teague?

Who does that :dunno: I'm still waiting for you to give me an example of when that's done and why in the world would a player agree before playing on the fucking team and dealing with the organization.

And it's not like he has only one year left, he has two. You have players who leave after being traded during their last year.

You buy cars based on pictures online, bruh?

Report: Kyrie Irving Went Days Without Talking To His Teammates During The Playoffs

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin dropped a good nugget about Kyrie Irving’s relationship with his Cleveland teammates on today’s episode of The Basketball Podcast. The Cavs reporter was asked about the possibility of a trade that would send Irving to the Suns and had this to say:

I tweeted this a week or so ago—I’m not sure. Phoenix of course hired James Jones this offseason. James Jones has been inside that locker room. He’s seen Kyrie Irving—I think I reported this on SportsCenter this week—he saw Kyrie Irving in the playoffs this year, in between the first round when the beat Indiana and the second round when they played Toronto, go consecutive days without speaking to a teammate at practice. On that stage! It’s one thing to say people go through their ups and downs in the regular season, but when you get to the playoffs, the main thing is the main thing, and we’re brothers, and we’re pulling together to get this thing done. Even at that level there were still things that made him sullen or reclusive from his teammates. I’m not so sure Phoenix would be interested in that type of deal.

Now maybe James Jones has seen stuff that—he knows just how special Kyrie is though, and he can sell the franchise on him. But part of me thinks more that it would be a caution flag coming from James Jones.

While the flurry of trade rumors around Irving has subsided in recent weeks, there’s no reason to believe the star guard is now content to stay in Ohio. This is just the latest in a steady drip of reports to suggest he’s on uneasy terms with the team, and has been for quite a while now.

Kyrie Irving Reportedly Went Consecutive Days Without Talking to Cavs Teammates

The divide between Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers extends to his fellow teammates after he reportedly went multiple days during the playoffs without speaking to them.

During an appearance on The BBall Breakdown Podcast (via Dan Feldman of NBC Sports), ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported former Cavs forward James Jones said he saw Irving "go consecutive days without speaking to a teammate at practice" between the first and second rounds of the NBA playoffs.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported in July that Irving met with Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert to request a trade because he wants to be "more of a focal point" and doesn't want to keep playing with LeBron James.

Windhorst also noted at the time Irving signed a five-year extension with the Cavs in 2014, he expected to be the "franchise player." James returned to Cleveland as a free agent shortly after Irving agreed to that deal.

There hasn't been any movement on a deal involving Irving since his trade request became public. Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN in Minneapolis (via Feldman) reported Aug. 4 the Phoenix Suns would be willing to include Eric Bledsoe, Dragan Bender and a 2018 first-round pick in a trade for Irving.

Irving was instrumental in helping the Cavaliers win the 2016 NBA championship. He hit the go-ahead three-pointer with less than one minute remaining in the fourth quarter of Game 7 against the Golden State Warriors.

The 25-year-old Irving set career highs last season with 25.2 points per game and a 47.3 field goal percentage.

Cavaliers star Kyrie Irvingreportedly prefers to play for the Los Angeles Clippers next season, according to Peter Vecsey.

The Clippers reportedly made a trade offer for Kyrie last month.

While guesting on the HoopsHype podcast, Vecsey mentioned that having Jerry West makes the Clippers a dark-horse candidate for Kyrie’s services (starting at 1:13:23):

“I’m told [Kyrie] wants to play for the Clippers. […] That’s the team I was told he wants to play.

“He loves L.A. He’s been working out a lot there this summer.

“Do they have the assets they get him? I don’t see how. But they also have Jerry West and he’s been able to figure out before.”

Kyrie not talking no big deal. Let him live. He tired of living in bron's house. You see dudes everyday that's gotta wear on u.

Acting like he's Ron Harper on the Bulls circa the Jordan years or something.

Ummmm ok

I dont even think Thomas is their main focus. Cavs probably seeking Brown, Tatum, Smart or a draft pick.

Celtics not going give away that Brooklyn pick but I know their let go of their's which should be in the upper 20's. Cavs gotta take that if that's the offer.

Celtics going be a scary team for the next couple of years. They probably get a center of the future in the 2018 draft and really start to dominate the league
