Game Of Thrones: The Sopranos with swords or Dynasty in chainmail?

Ok let's see...

Varis has ALWAYS served the Realm and has been setting up pieces for 20+ years..

So the very same pieces he has 'put in play'... he has also worked to completely undermine & kill... in order to stay alive himself.

Don't get me wrong, I like Varys.

But I can also admit that for every 2 steps Varys takes forward... he takes at least 1 step backward at the same time. And he's been seriously LUCKY that all his 'best intentions' & 'carefully planned schemes' have not backfired badly on him, over the years.

How?

Well, if you wanted Dany to be Queen from the get go ... because you think she is the 'best person' for the job... you do not send REAL ASSASSINS to kill her... if you 'serve the realm' and want 'what is best for the people'. :smh:

You send fake assassins.
Or bumbling oafs.
Or you do nothing at all... but tell everyone the opposite.

Dany was almost killed TWICE. Literally.

She was saved by Barriston Selmy from a little girl who gave her a deadly scorpion on a pier.
And she was saved by Jorah Mormon from a wine merchant who tried to poison her.

So Varys almost sabotaged his own plans.

He GOT LUCKY Dany had someone looking out for her, both times.

If they had succeeded in killing her... Varys would probably be groveling at Cersei's feet as we speak, or doing her bidding... just like he was doing for all the other rulers before her.

And btw, if Dany 'started to go mad'.... Varys would be the very first person in her current entourage who would get killed. Trust.

She has no 'love' for Varys. :smh:
He's with her because... he's Tyrion's wingman.

(Regardless if he was actually the person to convince Tyrion's to 'meet her' in the first place.)

Plus she already thinks he's a backstabbing turncoat... compared to EVERYONE ELSE in her posse.

So if shit ever hits the fan... the line to 'get beheaded' starts behind Varys. Not someone else. Please believe.
please rewatch from s1 - you missed a lot

Varis only sent one assassin under Robert's orders - and that was when Viceron(sic) was alive and still considered the principle to lead an invasion by Varis and his allies
The faceless assassin was sent by the old masters to kill Danny - not Varis - that assassination attempt was after she had made them enemies in 1 or 2 cities

As for the rest of your post - lets say that Varis doesn't remain 1 step ahead of everyone else gets himself executed or an accident kills him -
he is replaceable and not alone... he is only one member of the conspiracy that kept Danny and brother alive long enough to be able to invade Westeros

Man somebody somewhere has to have the whole season already. Suspense be killing me from week to week.

On another note, Is Yara dead? Because it's not GOT style for a major character to die and it not actually be shown.

If Jaime becomes king(queen) slayer again and kills Cersi at some point when she gets too crazy, even too crazy for him... That might save him from Dany...especially since her boy Trion still got love for him. ... It's not like she doesn't know her dad was an awful man.

Nah they both gotta die. No way she lets the dude who killed her dad live.

People said the same about Lost, Galactica, Breaking Bad, The Wire, OZ, and let's not forget about all the classics from the 70's and 80's. I don't think there is such a thing as the best show.
I guess you're right. It is so subjective. I've heard people call Game of Thrones Dungeons & Dragons on steroids. I know so many people who just can't get into it because the story is just too vast.

I don't know of another TV show that has as many storylines as this show has. It's like a tree with seemingly infinite branches, compared to most shows that are much more streamlined for The Limited intelligence of Their audience

Also, for those who have not seen Justified they should check it out. Great dialogue and one of the best TV shows ever

And that's what makes this show the GOAT. The backstory to the show deserves its own show.

He hasn't killed Yara yet she gives them a piece to negotiate with

...and Euron wants to torment Theon some more (force him to be a true Greyjoy)

Ellaria Sand is dead after the mountain goes full Zawd on her ...she killed Cercei daughter

I don't think Tyene Sand is dead yet either, she knows how to use her sexuality as a weapon

writing has flaws. for instance, the surprise about what to do with the dragons. um, 90% of those dudes were around during the mad king and knew the story of the slaughter of them. They have amnesia now?

time jumps. don't get me started on the travel issues.

bringing in ed sheeran. personal move and it took away from the GOT world. We are supposed to be lost in this world and then you see ed. lol. that was not a good move. it was just to appeal to arya because she's a fan in real life. hopefully harry styles won't be in it next.

Wait. Whut? Which 'old masters' had sent the faceless assassin (girl) on the docks? :dunno:
Which enemies had Dany made when she married Drogo? :dunno:

That whole incident on the docks happened in Season 3, Episode 1  BEFORE she met with the Slavers at Astapor.

On the TV show, Dany spent ALL of season 2 in the city of Q'ath.... looking for her Dragons.
And the season 2 finale was her killing the Sorcerer and his clones... in the House of the Undying.

^^ This assassination attempt happened BEFORE she ever went to Yunkai, or Mereen, or even 'swindled' the Slavers in Astopor.
So I'm not sure which 'old masters' (or Wise Masters) wanted her dead at this point. :dunno:

The Wise Masters were in Yunkai. And she had not even gone there yet. :smh:

At this time... the only person (on the TV show) who wanted her dead... was King Robert Baratheon.
Remember, on his deathbed he admitted that Ned was right about Dany & asked him to stop the wole assassination plot.

Check the 5:10 mark... when Ned leaves the room, he talks to Varys and tells him to stop all his assassination plans.. but Varys responds "I'm afraid those birds have flown. The girl is likely dead already." So the little girl with the Scorpion on the docks was definitely one of the 'earliest assassins' sent by Varys himself in season 1. Not sent by the 'old masters'. (Maybe that's how it is in the books, but I dunno. :dunno:)

Lastly, who else was part of the 'big conspiracy' to keep Dany alive... on the TV show? :dunno:

The only other person who was involved at all (that we know of)... was Illirio.

But he never sent out any assassins to kill her (that we know of)... nor did he send out anyone to keep her alive. :smh:
He only 'arranged her marriage' to Khal Drogo... then bounced. (And we haven't really seen him ever since.)

So there's nobody else left to 'replace' Varys... if his big plan fell apart 'by his own actions', imo. :smh:

whaaaa?
what are you talking about?
they were around during the mad king and Targaryen rule. How could they not know the history of the dragons in the Dance of the Dragons and their slaughter? I'm sure it was heavily talked about during his reign. It was common knowledge. At the beginning of the episode, they seemed confused. It was one, if not the greatest, civil war.

Yeah he molested like two of his brothers or something right?

Makes no sense that folks just act like they forgot. That info should be in Maestors books. Danearys isn't that old. Its not like its been 100 years since dragons.

  • ka-BOOM guess who stepped in the room it's Euron....hailing from the Iron Isle.
  • tumblr_otktarLP5c1rk4g57o1_400.gif
  • Euron is insane, he loves this shit...in full beast mode
  • Unless your name is Indiana Jones, a whip is not the best weapon against an axe
  • tumblr_otm07gFOWt1s95j2so5_540.gif
  • RIP Sand Snakes: Euron used their weapons against them, piercing Obara with her spear then strangling Nymeria with her whip.

Dragons had died out long before the mad kings reign.

she's fire too. Hopefully Bronn takes her in. Where has that nigga been?

It has been about 100 yrs since dragons were last seen.

also in the books the maesters of the citadel are hinted at being responsible for the death of dragons and magic.

I'm betting though that at some point, Nymeria will show up to help her old fam though. Probably against the white walkers and their crew when they make it to Winterfell, her and ghost will be ripping zombies to shreds. Hopefully they both make it to the end.

if im not mistaking that is what is actually happening in the books. Nymeria is the leader of a super pack of wolves.

dance of dragons was centuries before the rule of the mad king
the mad king had no dragons only wild fire
no one saw a fully grown dragon in 300 years- iirc
the last dragon Tyrion's uncle described, that he saw as a child, was smaller than a house cat
most people in Westeros forgot about magic - don't believe the whitewalkers are real
didn't believe Danny has dragons - and only kinda believe now because of how many people from Esos keep saying it

no shit. you completely missed what i said. and the dance of dragons was 170 years ago.
I'll say it again. Under Targaryen rule, how do you not the history of the civil war and the Dance of Dragons? Even King Joffrey quoted the civil war at one point. Now, they forgot all about dragons and how to kill them. They can't be that stupid.

It's almost like an American not knowing about the civil war.
